  • omg! it's so helpful! i have hidden eyelids and i think this tutorial helps me cos' no matter how hard i try, eyeshadows just look weird/fake on me.

  • This is a good video except the lady's accent is really strong im not trying to be mean but it really is. I kind of have some difficult time understanding it. Other than that, This is a great video. It has all the information that i need. Thank you!!!!

  • i don't think the eyeshadow methods looks flattering on the semi-double eyelid or the double eyelid eyes. they actually turn out looking monolidded. look great on monolids though.

  • Great Tutorial!!!

I had been shown the gradient method .. i was told to use the darkest color and line the top lid and then create a triangle shape to the top of eyelid and then blend blend blend. Have you tried this?

  • I wonder from where do you get those tutorials or .. do YOU make them ?!? :O btw your videos are ALWAYS helpful thank you ^_^

  • @xoxR0R0xox

LOL - I've made disclosure in my channel and blog abt where i source my material.

Look up FAQs - Top 2 in my channel.

Also a blog entry in my blog...

  • I love your videos. I'm doing my sister's (Not blood related) makeup for her wedding and so this is very helpful since I am black and she is monolided.

  • im in LOVE with the wave! definetly trying that one out! thank you so much!!!

  • Makeup and fashion?

Come on you must be kidding. You look so antiquated.

  • oh,thanks for this video :x it's helpful

  • @thelilhizzy

Well, I just dropped by your channel, and you seem an Asian "fan"?

I LOVE Rain too, but really, I'll betcha I speak English way better than him.

And I'm Malaysian - English speaker is NOT my 1st language.

Watch my "GiveAway Prizes Revealed" LIVE vid, then comment!

  • @suelynn76 you're Malaysian?! im so proud of you! XD i am too :P

  • @thelilhizzy Gtfo

  • i don't like the fake crease technique... it doesn't flatter asian eyes and doesn't showcase the beauty of what asian ladies already have!

  • the crease of both my eyes are not at the same position ): one higher, one lower. very hard to put eyeliner! cause it can be seen on my left eye but can't be seen on my right eye T__T

  • @chocolateai1 omg my eyes are the same >.> it's so annoying..

  • omgg i lovee this!!! best tutorial for asian i makeup ever!!

(: i was wondering what song did played around 9:26 ?

    THANKYOUUUUU (:

  • the girl on the left at 2:45. Her eyes slant up on the outside. That is how my eyes are except I have an eyelid crease.

I've never seen any makeup tips for leveling the eyes out. I have my own little things I think help but would love to get more tips.

I'm white and other white people will say I have "asian eyes" and asians think I look partially asian but whenever I look at asian makeup tips it's always about the "monolid" and they use winged eyeliner a lot (which imo makes it worse).

  • Can I use these techiques for my eyes? I'm not asian and I have pretty big eyes and a very defined crease.

  • Thanks for explaining the facts. I'm of Asian origin (Thai adopted) with a small eyelid that goes in to a < near the nose. Most Asian make-up styles is for monolids but make-up styles for Caucasian eyes don't work either. I've been using eyeline brushes for my lids and lip pencils for crease. Now I favor the graduated horizontal or vertical look rather than a deep color stuck in the crease. Don't start me on lash curlers, lol!

  • this is great becaue i am african american and everybody tells me i have asian eyes and i just tryed to wear eye shadow but never knew how

  • This is an AMAZING tutorial! Can you download the pictures of different eye shadow techniques anywhere? Thank you

  • This is an AMAZING tutorial! Can you download the pictures of different eye shadow techniques anywhere? Thank you

  • I am caucasian but have eyelids that are more monolid than "hooded." I can't wait to try out these techniques.

  • incredible facts- thanks!, anyone tried Maybellines new product line?! it's not easy to get makeup in Walton but you can obtain some magnificent samples of makeup from "GratisMakeupSamples"! there handy.

  • i love the song at the end what's it called?

  • @ScribbleShot The song's "Not A Single Day" by Rain

  • I love how informative this was. I am a makeup artist, (and happen to be half asian/caucasian with a small double lid) Although I do very well applying makeup to others, I have struggled for years with where to place eyeliner and crease colors because of my asian eyes! This was sooooo helpful, thank you so much suelynn!

  • @HappyHapagirl Oh wow! Thanks! Oh wow! You're a MA? Why not make tutorials too!?!?

This (and Part 2) is the most FUNDAMENTAL.

The subsequent videos (Cartoon-Inspired, Eyeliner Only, etc) are done with the assumption you guys have watched these LOL.

  • Great video. Exactly what i was looking for! thanks

  • @amicat Glad to be of help ;D

  • this was great, watching it reminds me of university lectures where they talk next to a slideshow, lol. thank you <3

  • @sidebraid LOL You're very welcome - I make makeup sound like rocket science? LOL

  • what if one eye is single lid and the other is double

  • it is really really much to long

  • @pawakin There's an "EXPRESS" version I posted as a Vid Response to this :) I just wanted to cover every possible Asian eyeshape :P

  • I have hooded, asian type eyes, I don't use sponges. I think brushes are easier to clean. But I use smaller type eye shadow brushes. I prefer using defining brushes, pencil brushes and smudge brushes. The large c type eyeshadow brushes are too large for our small hooded eyes.

  • If you don't put the crease shadow too high, I think it's ok. The picture #6 at 5:40 shows a good example.

  • @ji94552 Hiya, Thanks for highlighting that ^_^

  • whats the name of the song in the end?

It sounds beautiful, I can tell it's Rains voice!!!

  • ^_^

    Hiya,

The song's "Not A Single Day"!

  • thanks ^^

  • interesting video! i'm japanese, i use eyeshadow brushes(since i love youtube makeup gurus!) but all of my friends here don't know the eyeshadow brushes!!!! isn't it surprising? they're like "what are these brushes?? your hobby is painting or somethin?" lol all they know/use are sponge tip applicator here XD hehe

  • LOL When I first started out, I too obsessed over what the YT gurus use (brushes)!

Now I use BOTH - sponge tips & brushes DEPENDING on the e/s texture & colour payoff.

Asian brands have a LOT of shimmer & the colour payoff isn't the greatest. So sponge tips are almost a must to avoid fallout and get more colour payoff (esp if they DUN have UDPP or TFSI).

I use brushes when some e/s are too pigmented, frosty or soft (sponge tips wud pick up way too much)

Maybe I need to make a vid on this :P

  • Yes!! This is something I need to learn, too! I was given a Mac eyeshadow brush that I don't use because it's too stiff and picks up a lot of product from my Lancome palette, but not enough from my only 2 Mac eyeshadows.

  • hmm.....the girls in this tutorial who had the double lids wasn't what i expected :[ my family and myself have a really large fold compared to them. i thought when i was going to watch this tutorial that i would see a big double lid. but i guess if it an asian person had a deep crease they could just go for a caucasian application...also i think any asian person could pull of the fake crease look if the already had a deep crease :] and idk but i think viet ppl(myself) have the biggest creases...

  • This is a long vid but the narration was really interesting, kept me entertained through out the whole thing:) I'm going subscribed ! And as a side note, I think single lids are cute. Asian pride! lol

  • TQ - I ramble a lot :P

Asians, all shapes & sizes rock LOL Thanks for subbing ^_^

  • @eviole i honestly think monolids are cute to, but because i grew up in a family where western beauty was more favored(i guess), i'm more comfortable with double lids. but but if an oriental person had monolids or double lids or etc. he/she would still look asian because of the rest of he/she's facial features. and i would know because i've seen myself with monolids and double lids becuase of the loosness(idk if that's a word) of my lids change once in a while :]

  • I'm from Malaysia, and English is not our 1st language.

So, I have a Malaysian accent. Does it bother you? :P

  • wait, your really malaysian? thats so cool! :D

  • Yup yup!

Cool?!? In what way :D You really like Malaysia? ^_^

  • ya. i think its like super cool cuz its so multicultural there just like america. :) i have a close friend who's malaysian.

  • Yeap - but there's always this underlying current of tension...Like now if you read our local news :(

  • lol but didnt u guys just have this like economical boom a few years ago?

  • i seriously don think u carried a M'sian accent.. Just an unique one .. [:

  • Hhmm...LOL What is a M'sian accent anyway? All of us speak differently...In English I mean....

    Wow! "Unique" - Thanks ^_^

  • @suelynn76 in english, i think the malaysian accent usually isn't very obvious, but for some malaysians, it can be very very obvious when they speak in chinese.

by the way, i just wanted to suggest that u can add some words or something because it can get a little tedious after some time trying to hear every word... :)

  • I'm a Malaysian Chinese, and I don't have big eyes at all! And my crease is only on the outer 1/3 of my eye...Just FYI...

  • oh forgot, and Burmese, too.

  • Thank you for specifically catering to Asian eyes make-up. Very helpful.

  • You're welcome, dear. Glad to be of help :)

  • BTW....nothing personal towards your comment, but just giving you the facts.

  • FYI.......Lao have big eyes with eye lids, too. I thought I should let you know in case you forgot to mention us, since you mention Thai, Cambodian, and Filipino.

  • woah!..you're korean aren't ya??..that's rain(bi) song at the end'..lol

    thanks for the vid'!

  • Oh, I'm not. I'm a pure Chinese - but I still love Rain....But I've gotta stop now - copyright issues...Boo!

  • Ooh..yeah'..'coz i use his songs in my vids too'..kinda disappointing though'.. but nice to know some of those who love him too'..! i'ma support him till the end'!.. btw,i didn't like your vid'..i LOVED it'!..thanks a lot'!..c(=

  • I like asian eyes, and mine are quite similar to asians so I'm trying to hide my crease :) nice tutorial

  • Wow! Hide your crease? Highly unusual for Asians - we love creases :P

  • so helpful!

  • You're VERY welcome. Glad to be of help :D

  • great tips and videos.i am subscribing.

  • Thank you. Glad to be of help and thank you for subbing :)

  • Very helpful tutorial. Thank you for making this ^_^

  • Thanks, dear...More PicTuts coming! :D

  • these and part 2 are the best tutorial i've found. thank you for sharing!!! :D

  • Thanks dear! Hope it helped you in some ways :)

  • it did help me a lot, i agree w/ other comments here, your tutorials are the most comprehensive and they teach the principles themselves, unlike other videos that work well only on the guru... your tutorials help me play around successfully because they explain the fundamentals! thank you!

  • This is the most informative eye make-up vid on you. I have so much trouble with contouring etc bc I am monolid girl but puffy eyelids. Horrible for make-up application. Thanks for posting. Cheers!

  • You're welcome. This (and Part 2) is the most FUNDAMENTAL.

The subsequent videos (Cartoon-Inspired, Eyeliner Only, etc) are done with the assumption you guys have watched these LOL.

  • wow! thank u ! this helped me i lot

  • Hiya...

I'm so glad you found the vid helpful :)

  • Thank you! I'm a woman of east African descent and i have monolid/almond shaped eyes...I tend to find techniques geared towards Asian women more helpful because of my features..

  • Hi there

Wow! I'm glad to be of a lil help - I suppose eyeshapes surpasses all creeds and race! Thanks!

  • this is the most informative tutorial for asian eyes. thanks so much .

  • TQ! I'm so glad you found it of some help :D

  • what's the song at the end?

  • Hiya,

The song is by Rain, a South Korean singer/superstar - "Not A Single Day".

  • omg I loveee this tutorial!

I just watched it again & listened really carefully to your explainations, I really like the "wave" haha. I used to think there's just one way to do make-up, no diff btw asians & westerns but what you're saying TOTALLY makes sense!

    thanks for this video!

  • Thank you for the compliment, dearie...I'm really glad it helped you in some way! I'm trying to show some alternatives to other Asian YT Gurus' methods

  • Thanks a lot for this. I like how you labeled a few different "styles" for doing your eyes. Very creative :)

Oh and, where is the best legit place/website to buy circle lenses?

  • Thank you for the compliment! I messaged you abt the circle lenses thing

  • ah yes, thanks! keep making videos!

  • Great video! All of your videos give explicit details and the answers to why for different asian eye shapes. To be honest most of the how-to videos on here only work well on the guru themselves. Yeah when you watch a smokey eye tutorial by an asian guru, it looks nice on her, because it is done for her eye shape. It looks funny when I do it to myself, because every asian girl has a different crease variation and eye shape. Thanks and keep the videos coming!

  • Hiya!

What you mentioned above is very true - unless you manage to find a YT Guru which happens to have the EXACT eyeshape as you LOL. I guess XTeeener and FuzKittie have the most similar eyeshape with me, but still not identical...Calls for improvisation! :P

  • Thank you so much for all your great videos, they are so helpful.

  • You're very welcome-glad to be of help :D

  • Eh ur from malaysia too? :D Nice tutorial btw. Which state r u from :O

  • Thankyou soo much for this. I see asian celebrities on TV quite often and their eye makeup are soo simple yet beautiful. I always wanted to know how they did it! Im gonna try out these techniques mentioned in the video.. it was very useful, probs one of the best eye makeup 'tutorial' i have seen atm.

  • Thank you for the compliment, dearie...I'm really glad it helped you in some way!

  • where do you get all your knowledge form?

  • i found this very helpful and informative. so many other gurus just show you how to apply shadow to their own eyes but they don't tell you why you do it and not as diverse as you.

  • wow this is really helpful thanks !!!

  • I'm so happy this helped out you in some way :D

  • yeah, these type of make up are more natural for asian.. than smoky eyes.. which most American born asian love.. so u can basically tell by looking at people's make up

  • Yup :D

I just wanted to show alternatives to the Asian eye make up techniques in YT, which is VERY different from what we do here in Asia :)

  • i'm not asian, but i have semi double eyelids, so it helps too... and i like eastern makeup techniques more. so thanks for the video! <3

  • Hi there

Wow! I'm glad to be of a lil help - I suppose eye shapes surpasses all creeds and race

    Thanks

  • Thank you for breaking down the different techniques for us! :)

  • Hiya. Thank you. Altho I've received comments about being too technical LMAO

  • thank you sooo much! im asian but i have a more double lid with a crease.

this is so helpful because most videos show how to fake a crease for mono lids=)

    <3

  • Thank you, Emmi.

Asian eyeshapes are so varied, so I try my best to cover as much as I can!

    Hope it helped it out!

    There's a Part 2 on Eyeliner too!

  • thanks for the great tips, I'm gonna try it.

  • Thanks, dearie...Glad it helped you in some ways. Watch Part 2 for Eyeliner! :D

  • Hi Jupiter...

Thanks for your compliment...I'm so happy you found it helpful :D

Watch out for Part 2 focusing on EyeLiner!

  • Very good tips. I love it. Thanks you so much.

  • Suelynn - this is a FANTASTIC video. I love the comparison between Western and Eastern makeup techniques. An absolute must-watch for Asians starting in makeup!!

  • Hiya...

I'm so glad you found the vid helpful :)

I'm currently working on Part 2 focusing on EyeLiner for various Asian eyeshapes - watch out for it LOL

    Thanks for your support... :D

  • Nice video! And I like the song at the end.

Could you please tell me who sings it? thank you :D

  • Hi Alina...Thanks for your compliment!

The song is by Rain, a South Korean singer/superstar - "Not A Single Day".

  • Comment removed

  • thank you :D :D

P.S. I am not Asian, but I like to watch Asian techniques of makeup, because they are very natural looking. this video was very welcome! ..and looking forward to the second part :D

  • I'm working on it :D but since I hold a full time job, sigh, vid production is not gonna be super quick! Be patient, yea?

Oh...I love this song so much (one of the FEW ballads that I actually like) that I used it in my Jap Palettes and CD'or vid too! LOL

  • Very detailed and helpful! Great editing too, hehehee. <3

  • 10Q 10Q 10Q! I think I spend more time editing than filming :P

But really, these techniques are peanuts compared to your makeup prowess!

  • Thank you thank you thank you LOL...I think I spent more time editing than filming!

Ahhh...These techniques are peanuts compared to your makeup prowess!

  • Really nice video! I always look horrible, when I try to do the cut-the crease technique... :p

  • Thank you, Jess...*touched*

For me, it's a hit or miss...I think I have the right brush and shade, but my technique bllerrghhh...Sometimes it looks great; other times, "Sh*t! Gotta start over" LOL

  • ... that's the same with me, SueLynn! Haha... still have to practice a lot! :p
