I'm in the market for a controller for ableton, the one thing that puts me off the launch pad is theres no crossfader....... Been looking at the Novation zero sl mk2. Would go for the apc40, but the novation stuff is a bit more affordable.
@christianTluciani yes but how do you get the sound out of the computer into a club system if playing live? do you not need to plug your computer into a soundcard then run your soundcard into the club PA?
@bstabz Oh yeah, that's exactly how you do it. I run my computer through an m-audio fast track, but there's a lit of different types of usb interfaces you can use.
@ace101guy You can use it as drum machine, synth, controller... basicly everything :DDD Just insane gadget. You can use it everywhere. For a long long time i wanted this, but no body is selling it in my country...
@Jobatone The set consists of a LOT of pre-defined audio clips. There is no need to cue stuff in as its pretty hard to go 'wrong' as anything that comes in should theoretically work with anything else in the set. Then all that needs to be done is perform what's there. The only time a CUE is required is when playing in drum beats (in Lives Drum racks) as sometimes the '1' beat becomes a little hazzy ;-)
@introducinglive I see ... I guess this is more towards producers that just want to play their own stuff then. I can't really see a club DJ using this cause you would want to hear the track before throwing it onto the dance floor to make sure its appropriate. As apposed to an artist (like dm5) who can play whatever cause its his show.
@Jobatone Many DJ's use Ableton Live, it beatmatches for you, if you want to listening to a track before throwing it into the mix just route it to your headphones like on a regular mixer.
@Jobatone tons of dj's use ableton and just have their whole sets loaded up. it might be lame, but it's pretty common place in club or party scenes where nobody gives a shit what the dj is doing and his only objective is to get drunk girls dancing. doing it this way saves a LOT of money on records and equipment transportation.
@MattHood This is the most true statement I've ever read on youtube. I know people are going to hate endlessly, but it's all about the money in this game anymore. Sometimes you just have to try it all!

bstabz 5 months ago
