And unlike some people say, the game is not gear based. ive had people with a 2k GS at lvl 60 do shit DPS..its all about how you play your class, and how you adapt to different situations, for WoW's raid bosses are very well scripted, and unique. First off, they're instanced. They lock you in to a small amount of people to do the encounter with. People use third party tools to help them make the encounters even easier. If you die, you don't lose anything and you can run right back.
In other MMORPGs, dying has a large penalty, you can bring, and sometimes need to bring, up to 100 people to do a proper raid
Okay, there were many things wrong with that paragraph..first of all, raids are about 40% part of EVERY mmo, aside from warhammer online. In wow instances and raids, you have MANY mobs to face, there usually quite long and open spaced. Mods(3rd party tools) dont make it easier, they make up for WoW's crappy UI(which is one if the only bad things) and you lose NOTHING from dyeing? you lose durability that costs ALOT to fix. and there are 40 man raids

And people don't play EQ and DAoC as much anymore because the companies went on to make newer MMOs and stopped working on the older ones. That and they made changes to the game that drove their players off. Specifically in DAoC, they made the game focus on raiding TOO MUCH. 100 man 8 hour raids were more hardcore than anything WoW has.

Mostly it's a friendly rivalry, similar to the one between Australia and New Zealand. Americans tend to ignore Canada, except for us Floridians who cherish their tourist dollars; and Canadians would like to be regarded as something other than the "nice" North Americans.
It's silly of course, but is not really taken seriously by those on either side of the border.
