  • Don't forget D.A.C. black balling truckers!

  • i drive in chicago area tanker 34.80 hr plus ot. retirement and ins..screw otr ..

  • There's a shortage because too many of the new drivers are pussies & can't handle the lifestyle

  • @mesjc261975 Most can't even read a map or do trip planning!

  • This is for the people that think anyone can drive a truck, and your right anyone can.

But the big difference between a truck driver and a steering wheel holder is,the truck driver gets out of everything everyone else puts him or her into,a steering wheel holder just smashes the brakes and hopes for the best. After 39 years I know, now you really think anyone can drive a truck?

As far as the new rules go,they can replace me with a steering wheel holder, bye bye.

I wish everyone the best ,God Bless.

  • I have been on or around trucking for 27 yrs .I have busted tires I have wrenched I have lumped .I can go to work right now for any trucking comp I wish .But I am thinking serious about getting out because of these regs .The gov is forcing us out for some crooked reason ,and its all pointing to Mexico .Step back and take a good look at it ,we will be paying to make sure their trucks are safe ,we will be paying to put elogs and other devices on their trucks .They will be able to back haul

  • @truckdawg43 They say they wont but they will slip it in. You think trucking is fucked up now just wait .Its not a Lib Repub thing they are all just as guilty as the next .The pay isnt an issue if you want a good paying trucking job they are out there .If it has to be local join the teamsters .I wouldnt I have no use for em and they dont for me ,I wont pay some one to sit on their ass and wimper when policies dont suit them ,and you can thank Hoffa for LaHood .The Asshole that started this shit

  • I've been out here 18 years im a owner op and I've got to disagree with you I've seen thousands of drivers out here that have no business being out here I see them being scraped off the highway and these trucking schools don't teach u shit sorry

  • Everybody is crying about the amount of money trucking pays, lets analyze the situation. I drove trucks for almost 12 years, I was forced out due to a medical condition. That said I realize it is a low skilled job. Low skilled workers do not make much money, not trying to be mean just honest. Is it right? Can't say, it is just simple economics. We live in a knowledge based economy, the more you know the more you make. You can train to truck in 6wks. college takes 4 years! Do the math!!

  • their is no shortage of drivers just shortage of pay

  • its necessary to make a smokey and the bandit 4....unbelievable...168hrs in the week..$1000pay....$5.95 per hour..thats the problem....Drivers from the 70s were making 100k a year to go cross country....now ppl who dont know are happy with 50k a year...

  • There is not a driver shortage. This story is baloney. If you don't believe me take a driving course then get a decent driving job then post here

  • i have nothing aginest trucker and i know that work hard but they destroy are rods and use lots of fule and congest highways come on people we need to go bake to trains we will save so much money we wont know to do with it

  • @dondondonman I doubt it. It is going to be much more expensive to lay train tracks to the back doors of every store in the nation.

  • @SomeRandomFeller im not saying throw out trucking but rather cut it down to shoeter runs then we need less drivers and we dont need to send out 10 drivers to one route for 3 stores i work at a fareway its a food store and we get two trucks from texas and one from maine wer 2 times a week in NE IOWA 40 min south of minisoda now come on tell me thats not wastful

  • @dondondonman Do a little research before you post comments on here. We have been going back to trains big time in the last 10 plus years. The railroads are at full capacity and adding capacity as fast as they can!! The trains already carry intermodal containers, still there is a great need for trucks. like "somerandomfeller" pointed out, there is no tracks going to the local Walmart store. Every item you consume rode on a truck at some point.

  • @dondondonman Trucks may damage the road, but they pay for all the damage they do and then some. Trucks pay fuel tax, road use tax, base plate fees, IFTA registration fees, more than triple the rate for toll roads, and more tax and fees that I can't remember at this time. Look it up!

  • @ktumbleweed ok putting aside the time and effort and money it takes to dig up and relay a rode ro god forbid a highway think of all those taxes where do that come from the truckers no the owners noooooop the consumer really pays thows taxes you think gas really cost 3.50 a gal no it realy cost like .50 a gal its the government tax and vender greed and thats only one i have room to put on im not saying truckers r im saying we need to fase them out so thers not so many

  • @dondondonman How do you suggest we phase them out? Trucks drive this country! They have for many years. Are there a lot of trucks on the road? Yes, but it takes a lot to feed and clothe this country. You can partially thank all the safety advocates for that. They have demanded more rest time for truckers. How do you offset that? More trucks!! How long do think the country would survive if every truck stopped right now??

  • @ktumbleweed i dont know have all the ansers but i dont mean all the truckers need to go just a lage amount i live in iowa and a good rode should last the state about 40 to 50 years here you cant even drive at 4 mills at 3 am without seeing 2 truckers at least and at the day time tis non stop there evrywhere 6 to 7 all around you at all times are rodes here last about 5 years befor that need huge repares then its assfult repares for the next 20 years cuz obama likes to give are the

  • @dondondonman I can understand your frustration, but I think you live in a dream world. You are missing the big picture, despite your wishes to limit the number of trucks on the road and shift freight to trains the opposite is going to happen! The ATA estimates by 2020 the number of trucks will double!! The railroads will also expand at an alarming rate. So prepare for road conditions to get worse, you better get used to it!! Don't hate the player, hate the game! LOL!!

  • @ktumbleweed i supose then back to assfult we go =(

  • @ktumbleweed world rodes and not give the state that provides a vary nice chunk on the worlds food new rodes and trucks to ans from train stashions to conseriv the rodes im only saying why send 10 trucks to s.e iowa from ne ia when theres one train going that can hule all of it + more srry if my spelling and grammer are worse than norm i was upset the rodes is my buttin i mean come it theres foot wide foot deep pot holes in are freeway lord save me

  • Driver are the second biggest occupation.

  • They talk like just anybody can drive a truck there ia alot more to it than you think

  • @bloodlust1982 I drove for almost 12 years, and was an instructor and driver trainer. How much is there to it? On average 6 weeks of training and you get your own truck. Name another occupation you can do with not even a high school diploma required with 6wks training and make 30 - 50K right out of the gate! I have had 400lb ex football players to 4'10" tall 90lb women learn how to drive truck. It is not that hard.

  • I all these years I have been transporting goods everywhere and seen the metamorphosis that has occurred throughout the EU More and more distribution centers have changed their labor by illegal immigrants and recent immigrants who work for pennies on the transportation industry, fast food restaurants, Agribusiness etc.

  • Do not get me wrong there are many companies that pay well but being Latino and my record too hard to get them many people say that there is no racism I do not bite that I work at FedEx National LTL in Middletown, PA for 7 years only met 2 black and 3 Latino. in 215 drivers. I could get the job because the company was Watkins. first all companies that pay decent in the application they ask you what race you are. last week I made an application for ABF in Carlisle, PA and they did

  • I have a commercial driver's license for 12 years. My last job was in a reefer working for a small company spent weeks without seeing my family and barely enough money to pay rent and food. had family problems and could not solve decided to resign. they pay is not compatible with the risk if you have an accident and someone dies you can meet many years in prison is not life be within a truck 24 hours and see that all the money goes into the hands of those who sell Diessel

  • Also, some of you guys need to learn to start opening up your minds & try learning something new for a change

Truckers have no say so the FED mandates new rules to get qualified drivers to stay away. The result is morons driving for pennies

YouTube "NAFTA" Or the "NAFTA Superhighway" All you need to know about WHY our OWN Federal government is placing unqualified drivers on roads WE have to be qualified INSURED AND TAXED is all in there to wrap your feeble minds around. Get the BIG picture.

  • lol, she said infrastructure. The damn DOT is infrastructure! W/o their revenue & what they buy the economy is bad! CDL drivers have no 1 to blame but themselves. They have no lobbyist to speak 4 them & the FEDS walk all over them. Do meth while driving a truck & run over a family causing a insurance settlement? Guess what? New rules & regs! Why would I want a CDL? I ride a mc & a small truck & like being able to contest a ticket. If you have a CDL google, "Prohibition on masking convictions."

  • Most trucking companies dont wana pay drivers good, they want to pay dimes and nickles, thats why is driver shortage,i dont drive for nobody for free fuck them,i stay local making $13 hr,home every night.until i find a carrier with good pay i would drive again.

  • @pilottravel2002f Your absolutely right! I did 4 years with various companies and then 12+ years ago I started driving a mixer at $12.60 in '99 and know I'm up to $21. Unfortunately, everything else has gone with my raises!

  • Thank you to all the Truckers who deliver are frieght, and deal with fleet managers, and being away from home ! Thank you very much and GOD BLESS !!!

  • I love being a Truck Driver's wife ;)

    I

  • There's no real shortage of drivers. Just a shortage of companies that want to keep experienced truck drivers. This is a big game they play to justify getting tax credits for student drivers. There are plenty of ex-drivers that would go back to trucking if the market paid them fairly.

  • @alpineace2003 Yes. You said it! The DOT puts more rules out that doesn't make sense except to take in more fines.

  • The shortage is due to companies mistreatment of drivers. Period.

  • @Sidney38SNJ cont. I would also return to Swift try their Volvo driveaway division per an ad in the paper stating I could make up to x amount of dollars per year. Another lesson learned, don't believe newspaper. What I found out finally caused me to wise up when Swift starting missing expenses on every other trip (major ones at that) to not paying me a flat rate when in transit to pick up my next load as there was no return freight. To my understanding they lost that operation and xp drivers.

  • @Sidney38SNJ the other problem is most of the general freight companies are governing your daily miles by limiting how fast you can go to not necessarily paying you exactly or close to what you drive (i.e. mover's guide is bullshit especially when you have Microsoft Streets and Trips at your disposal or any accurate mapping program). On top of that I worked for Swift as was governed at 60 mph for two+ years of my life where the miles and pay were not there to justify even staying.

  • Between the DOT, and Stes DOTS and the HARASSMENT and rules and regs they keep laying on us, a lot of drivers are quitting. TWIC Cards, expenses once paid for by truck companies and the DOT Laws being forced on the driver rather than the companies (fines, rules, regs) there will continue to be shortages. I cant wait until I can retire and tell employers and the DOT to KISS MY ASS!

  • @brock1946 even with 2 years+ experience the local jobs out there don't pay that much for your experience some to the tune of $12/hr. Depends on company. The paid by the mile b/s should stop where drivers are put on salary especially in a governed truck. Those general freight companies are not looking to retain experienced drivers and I learned that when turned down for rehire later on at Swift when a terminal manager blackballed me. To this day my MVR is clean. Knock on wood.
