time would be better spent learning to set up the guitar correctly then learning to play it.

@0cscott it depends on what someone is going for.the biggest reason is to have something to look really awesome on stage,to set apart from other bands,all for putting on a better show.during my time as a gigging musician,ive come to learn that sadly,more value is placed on aesthetics and stage presence than playing skill and musical composition.thats why im buildin a guitar with LEDs in the fretboard,for it to look cool,and i do think it looks cool.dunno about these lightning bolts tho...

making a tutorial on how to do this would be awesome :). this was easily one of the best led setups I've seen, especially considering you did it yourself.(the three-point switch idea is really good, in case you get sick of it.) If not a video tutorial, maybe like some pictures or a written tutorial? Because there is no decent tutorial out there on how to do this :(

they are set at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19and i think one or two more but i forget. they just make it easy to find the fret you looking for . instead of having to count the frets.

No. It's only 3 volts and 20mA. Not enough to hurt anything. The electricity takes the path of least resistance anyway, which is from one fret to the other through the string.

Not sure what you mean. There is no controller. Just a 150ohm resistor in series in the circuit. And yes...it was a TON of soldering. Not to mention I had to bore out the back of the fretboard with a Dremmel tool to make room for the wires.
