i have a halti for my dog.....he's pretty well trained with it. I also run him with it with my bike. is this considered dangerous to him? We also use them in the races.
Thanks so Much for your Demo. Your video has convinced me to try it out on my two german shepherds. I can't wait to find out if my walks could actually be pleasant instead of me coming home with no voice from yelling, sore arms from yanking and being pulled and my dogs coming home with sore neck muscles.
@Pinkgalinfca Ni problem! This harness works amazingly even though I don't use it anymre because I always have my dog off leash. She turns 2 this weekend! She is such a well behaved dog! Good luck with the harness! It'll work for you! Tell me what happens!
@midgetgem1506 This dog was only about 7 months in this video, she is about 22 months now and I don't even NEED a leash on her because she's so well behaved. And, I don't see the problem with her in front.
@midgetgem1506 you r right..she still pulls. And I thought my BOC was crazy :-D Mine heels extremly well when off leash but when on leash..he always wants to be in front of me sniffing everything.. :-(
I think I might get this but I'm also leaning towards the halti! What to do! Have you tried a head collar before? I know most dogs hate them and the harness seems like it would be more comfortable.
@fakingfrench I made this video over a year ago and I don't even use the Easy Walk Harness anymore. I just use a normal walking harness and my dog doesn't pull. But not all dogs are as easy going as mine can be. I would not suggest the halti at all. It's just so unenjoyable for the dog I find. It makes them dread walks almost. I would definitely use the Easy Walk Harness! It helps with pulling 100% and it's not uncomfortable.
I find the best simple solution is to walk backwards for half a dozen steps as soon as they start to pull, and if they are especially over-excited make them sit for a short while to calm down a bit before you start to move forward again. If you put in the effort to be consistent with this, they get the message very quickly that pulling takes them in the opposite direction to where they want to go, and change their ways :)

@IAmDanIAmNotSam Some people aren't very patient with the whole walking backyards thing when they pull. That's me. Too impatient. When I go on a walk I want to get exercise and actually get somewhere, instead of only walking backwards when my dog pulls. I just find it's easier to use a harness to prevent the pulling so I can go on a walk, enjoy my self, and actually get somewhere. I just prefer it. What you suggested is way to fix it though.
@erockinoz Used properly or not, it still will damage their trachea. The choke chain works on my dog but it's not safe for any dog, regardless of if used properly or not. Why would you use a tool on your dog if its just going to damage them in the long run? I know how to use it, but I don't because I could use tools that are so much more humane that that. I actually don't use a harness or choke chain, or any other device. I walk my dog off leash.
This definitely sold me on buying one for my 7 month old German Shepherd/Lab mix. I've tried every method of training to get her to stop, but ever since we moved everything is too exciting to her and she never quits pulling (especially when she sees a squirrel, no matter how long ago she saw it). Thank you so much. And good job getting your dog spayed too.
(Your excellent taste in music helped with the sale too. What were the first songs?)
@SarahSiobhan Im glad that this video helped you! Did you get one yet? They work like a dream! Nothing works on my dog, not even trying to train her to walk on a loose leash. This harness works SO well, I will never try anything ever again! When they are walking it basically pulls their legs and they stop and turn to you, and it bothers them to pull because it pulls they're legs together pretty much. The first song was Your Man by Down with Webster. The second song was Give him Up by Faber Drive
@Court22132 I've tried everything as well. She just doesn't pay attention to me at all. Even if I have a treat in my hand. Maybe this will help. I ordered mine from Amazon last night. So it should be here in about a week. I'll let you know if it works for me as well as it worked for you.
@SarahSiobhan Treats are SO out of the question for my dog as well when it comes to walking. She just wants to see EVERYTHING so she hardly pays attention. I hope it works for you!

@rufus1236 It can be dangerous if it pulls back on his neck hard enough and stuff.

@Court22132 oh he's trained with it. thanks though! :D

@SarahSiobhan Oh oops, you know how it works! haha I didn't see your other comment.

It seems it works great..but I have no idea on a rational basis how it works on the dog...
AD49938 1 year ago
@AD49938 It pulls their front legs together so they basically get confused and stop walking or turn to face you.
