if you require a professional quality film positive for transferring your design try using Accent Publishing in San Antonio for your film. They can run up to a 30x40 film transparency or film positive. dan@accentsa.com or 210-654-9555
The artwork is the pattern that is used to transfer the track pattern onto the PCB. It is the copper tracks of the circuit board if you like... or should I say what is used in the photographic method of producing a PCB. We use a UV light box at school though rather than an incandesant light bulb.
Aha! I haven't thought about using a heat gun to agitate/heat the etchant. I use a foam brush on the board when etching though, which reduces etching times and undercutting.
I agree with you, there are several ways to make a PC board. Each process differs depending on the type of PC board material and chemicals used. This is the one we use in our college and it seems to work really good for the student projects.

I have bought UV curable solder mask on eBay,
very easy to use because it is not necessary an oven.
The results are great, they are like the commercial PCB.

I am interested in the design that you call artwork. What is the functional significance of the art.

could it be done just by pressing a bond sheet with an iron?

@TerminalJack505 the etchant works better at warmer temperatures. I preheat the etchant before adding the PCB. Agitation also helps even etching.

I find it odd that you have a really fancy PCB drill, yet you make the board under a desk lamp and etch it in a plastic tray :-O ?!

:D strange isn't it

Excellent job!
What do you do with the used etchant?
Is it considered a hazardous material for disposal purposes?

What exactly are you using as an etching solution?
Maxzoe20 4 years ago
It says right in the video, Ferric Chloride.

It appears your using fingernail polish remover not polish. Is this correct?

did you mean acetone?

Wow how many ways are there to make circuit boards, I've seen like 3 already...
