  • I wish that somehow I could have this version to keep forever and listen to on a portable music device. You should have your mother record this! Skal!

  • what a beautiful instrument. a very haunting sound to it

  • Yes, another video in my favorite menu. Thanks!

  • Great job! that looks like a pain to tune though :(

  • wonderfull!

  • absolutely amazing.

  • The floating camera made me a little dizzy, but the playing was wonderful.

"Land of Fairy Tales" is a beautiful name. Bravo to your mother for her playing.

  • Just browsing YouTube casually... stumbling across this made my night. Fascinating instrument, wonderful performance =) Just thought you should know

  • Just wonderful! Helt underbart! :)

  • Well played. Gotta show this clip to my finnish friend, i'm a swede myself :)

  • Whats the matter? Can't the camera person stand still or do they ants in the pants, very hard to look at the instrament while the camera is moving so much

  • Finnish music rocks. from black metal to this......

  • @ferkando

    no, una viola de teclas

  • Whoa...what a strange instrument! It's like a keyboard/guitar/violin. Fascinating.

  • nope, it's not a Hurdy Gurdy, it's a nyckelharppa, or keyed fiddle.

  • The clothespin seems to be a critical part of this instrument!

  • As far as I remember nyckel harpa has also been known in some countries in the continental europe. In hungary they have an intstrument with same kind of mechanism, but instread of playing with bow the player turns some kind of crank. The english translation for the instrument I have heard is "keyed fiddle".

  • It's called a Hurdy Gurdy!

  • Hurdy Gurdy is the english name for what they play in Hungary... propably in other countries around the area.

  • yoo, that shit is tight ma nig!

  • I want a nickelharpa how do i get it??

  • That depends entirely on where you're from?

  • what instrument is this?? =O

  • Nyckelharpa. Lit. 'Key Harp'. Predominantly Swedish, but also Finnish, instrument.

  • this is beatiful :D

  • how do you play it?

  • den kan jag spela på fiol :)

  • This is really, really beautiful!

  • thank you! I will tell my mother (playin).

    Happy new year!/ E

  • Happy New Year to you and to your mother also! I just read the translation you gave of the title above, which, yes, is even more beautiful!

    :-)

  • Wrong camera-man, Right musician....!

  • Absolutely wonderful - I love the clear sounds, and the revirb. What nationality are you as it says Tango Finlandese, are you of Finnish origin?

  • Hello ! Isn´t she great? Both me and my mother are swedes, but a couple of years ago she started takin an interest in the finnish tango and started playin it on her viola, then she took it further to her key fiddle, wich is her main instrument. This tango, Satumaa is from Finland.

Happy new year to you! / Erika

  • underbart!

  • Interesting to hear minor key tunes on this instrument. Most nyckelharpa music seems to be major key. I like the crisp resonance that comes from the "frets" stopping the strings, but the sound can be a little umcomfortably "glassy" due to the bow being so close to the bridge.

  • Wow! Bravo!

  • I am learning to play the nyckelharpa. I love this tango! Do you have sheet music to this version of Satumaa that you would share? Thanks!

  • wonderful! BRA! (that is Sedish for "good") the nyckelharpa or key fiddle is a wnderfully resonant instrument with 4 strings that you play with the bow and 12 others that

"ring" or resonate (sympathetic strings). It is an interesting connection between Finland and South America....the Tango is quite popular and prevalent in Finland--a long distance connection!

    bexo enorme hermosa!

    martín

  • super!

  • So awesome. What's the instrument called? (I don't speak Spanish or Finnish, so please bear with me. xD)

  • Oh, you like it? In swedish this instrument is called Nyckelharpa - lika a harpe with keys... they keys are those who press down the strings, manouvered with the left hand.

This is my mother playin, its a finnish tango-melody, so beautyful! The title, Satumaa means "Land of fairytails". Even moore beautyful now, right?

  • Thanks. She's really good (or maybe not, I've never heard anyone else play a Nyckelharpa before, so I don't have a comparison).

  • "Key fiddle" or "Swedish key fiddle" in english.

  • bello...

  • redigt bra! gött mos!

  • Felicitaciones
