yea the point for me is i grew up with the c64 version and i like this the most til today cause in the other versions they did a lot of cencored thinks. And they did another color for the faxes i dont realy know why also on pc
The music in this game as well as the graphics made the NES port much better than any of the computer versions. This is the only NES game I didn't get rid of.
Have played almost ever version of this game. The Commodore 64's version had the best sound track of them all. The addition of character specific songs on the NES version was a plus, though.
A wonderful classic from LucasArts. Someone made a remake of the game, MM Deluxe, but my beef with it is that it doesn't use the character's music, but instead uses music from Day of the Tentacle for rooms in the game.
The video footage here is (half of) a Maniac Mansion speedrun that I did 4 years ago. It's ok that you used it, but you should acknowledge who made it and where you got it from.
I thought I did, if you check the description. I was under the impression that user had done the run, but if you're sure it's yours, I suggest you take it up with him. In the meantime, I can change the credit to something else, just let me know if your Youtube account is fine. Sorry about the mixup, as I always try to give props where they are due.
If you get a chance you should listen to the soundtrack for this game from the Commodore 64. Same songs, but the C64 SID chip was capable of sooooo much more than the NES sound card. Still a great soundtrack, but the C64 version will always hold a much closer place in my heart than the NES one :)
Although I haven't played the C64 version, I'm not surprised that it sports better renditions. Oh well, I went with the release that I thought would be familiar with most, although for a game like this one it's hard to tell.
The Nintendo version was probably the way to go. While it's music wasn't as crisp as the C64's, it had about 17 more songs in it's playlist.
When the Commodore version played music, it was badass. Sadly, 90% of the time you were listening to crickets, clocks, footsteps, and other ambient noise.
when I found out I could just push that brick in the cellar to get out of the "prison" I felt like I was born all over again

Great game, and great music too.
I liked the NES version because of the music. Even knowing that Nintendo censored it (The NES version, not the music ;) )

I want back those days where NES had the best graphics =/ where a game was short but fun to play..
