  • @09nicksch Brand new Neon back in 98' was something like $13,000 ... Tiburon GT in 04' was $22,000. Gotta love how Hyundais drop in price so fast though. Maybe I'll pick up a Genesis Coupe when it comes down soem more. You know what else is awesome? I can now buy an 05' 350Z for the same price I bought the Tiburon GT!

  • Fuel cut off is 6250 not 6200, and they make no power over 5000 if it's a stock cam. So it's hard to redline, you have to try. Going from the top of 3rd to second will do it tho!

  • @TheMustangguy90 Ive never seen a 5.0, even a stock one last longer than 200k miles. I can go on craigslist or ebay right now and find at least 5-10 ls1 cars with 200k or close to it on original block. I cant find one 5.0, just a coincidence... no thanks.

  • @cmigneco just to jump in here the old 302 windsor was a bullit proof engine... with regular maintenance they can easily go past 220k miles and that being bagged on a regular baises... on the flip side any engine with regular maintenance can go a very long time... but vehicles with over 400k miles running amazing is a hard to belive on original motor no rebuild... you would be an idiot to buy one lol ... just my two cents

Your understand what im saying though, almost any car and especially foreign cars can last a LONG LONG time with proper care. I agree with you though, it would be foolish to touch anything with more than 120k miles regardless.

    you will get good reliable power and well, you will just be getting way more out of the car!!

  • yea i got an msd ignition and then once i do head,cam.intake it'll rev to 6,200 according to the heads specs.

  • the cam specs are what dictate your power band.

    What heads are you going with?

    a few hundred dollars worth of porting by an old timer who has several decades worth of knowledge & tricks will really push that stang over the precipise of power!!!

  • eventually im going to get a head/cam/intake package from TRICK FLOW. so..yea lol. its 2,400$ for that but it will bump me up to 360HP at the crank. and thats not including my exhaust,mass air and throttle body.

  • my 91 stang has been converted withmy 1969 302 block with 289 hipo cast iron heads with 2.02 intakes and crane cam and my beast will hit 7500 rpm in a split second. just have to know your fords. and those that dont beleave me i have videos i can upload.

  • that sounds like a nasty combo, sounds like would run fairly strong. i,ve got an 89 with the stock block(freshened to stock specs with the exception of ARP rod bolts) edelbrock rpm heads and intake, comp cam with .544 lift and probably too much duration. makes peak horsepower at around 6500 6600 and doesnt fall off too bad, dyno shop is rev limiting it at 7500 lol oh and i built it all myself with my own two hands when i was 17

  • Ouch, did that really hit 7k RPM? Thank god for the 3" stroke and how tough the 5.0's are. I've had my throttle get stuck in my truck and it just started revving to hell and back. 1 year later, I still run the piss out of it. Never caused a problem.

  • It looked more like 6250rpm the yellow begins at 5k and the red is at 6k and it didn't look to get too far into the red. You can safely wrap it out to 6k it just doesn't make power up that far stock.
