I love old punk and new punk and I really fail to see how Green Day are shit. No one tells them what to write in their lyrics. No one tells them what structure a song should be. They're older stuff had riffs which I can here in Sex Pistols songs. And they released the first political protest album since 9/11. What's more punk than that? I remember reading an article a couple months ago, it was wrote back in 1994. An interviewer asked him why he decided to re-unite with The Sex Pistols again, he said Green Day's mainstream success encouraged them, because seeing all the kids so into new Punk bands again, he wanted to give it another try.
He hating them now because they're worldwide famous again, and he's jealous because he is not.

Did Johnny do that? NO. Because the pistols were manufactured and were put directly on a major label and straight onto TV shows for interviews to gain publicity with their obnoxious stunts. (and they were stunts)
