@swordslasher299 i have about 7 more including the switchblade (the leafy bug as Eddie Murphy called it) to post, and a few 100 request to design test and post, so i should be getting to it soon. i really like these and want the complete collection to be posted so stay tuned.
I know it's probably at the limits of aerodynamics, but have you tried designing a TIE Fighter to go with it? The Interceptor variant would probably be stable enough.
@millenniumf1138 that would be really nice if i could get it to fly, it might actually work pretty well if i could get the center section and the wings to provide enough lift as a group to keep it air born, it would be light so it just might work.
I've always wanted an RC TIE Fighter that could hover and fly fast and do aerobatics, maybe some day.
Just use normal paper if your wingspan is 5 inches or less.
All of the template I have for download are designed to be printed on normal paper.
If you want to scale it up past a 5 inch wingspan then you need to use thicker paper.
if the wing span is over a foot then you would want to use foam. At that size you can start putting servos, receivers, and motors on them pretty easily.
Not to long, it took longer to figure out the best way to do the wings and guns.
I would like it to be able to loop better, but it isn't really that sort of aircraft. The guns and long nose act like a big lever, making it hard to pitch up.
@taoistflyer I suppose you could make some clear lifting surfaces out of mylar on the nose to balance the lift better. That seems to work for some RC models pretty well.
This one is based off pictures of the original x wing toy. I took top down pictures of an x wing toy.
I opened the file in pc paint. then I cut, pasted, rotated, and scaled, the pieces the way I wanted them. It took me a few tries to figure out the best way to construct it easily, this is version 2. Next I print one, fly it, and see how well it works. I usually go back and make refinements to the amount of nose weight or the tail surface area.
Not the first but definitely one of the first easy to make paper versions.
Their is another video of a flying paper x wing on youtube, but it doesn't look as realistic as this one, and it takes a lot of folding. Their have been a few rc x wings over the years, as well as an x wing kite.
what a wierd and cool sissor!!

Hey, taoistflyer, i printed in a diferent paper, and it flies fine. 5 * dude, congratulations....Oh try to maker the Snowspeeder!!!! =D
biostu 2 years ago
Please make the snowspeeder, i think it would be easier than the x-wing, plz!!!!!
biostu 2 years ago
With normal paper doesn't work, witch kind of paper you use?
biostu 2 years ago
I used normal printer paper, it should fly fine.
Don't expect it to do the aerobatic loop though, the center of gravity and flaps are all to far back for that.
The guns and the nose are a little to heavy for it to loop, but it flies straight very well.
At least mine does.
taoistflyer 2 years ago
LOL, nope, I'm just a random douche who wanted something that didn't exist so I made it myself.
