  • First loco I ever had a roster on :)

  • brilliant whistle it is!, id have 1 on my fiat panda if i cud

  • Great vid. I like the chime whistle but would still stick to the original GWR whistle. realy nice locomotive.

  • that whistle needs sawing off a putting a GWR whistle instead the proper whistle

  • if only all GWR locos had a whistle like that

  • I always wondered if it would burn your butt to sit on a locomotive's boiler while under way.

    Now I know the answer.

  • You would not want to sit on the smokebox, however! Next time it's raining and you are watching a steam locomotive, hear how the rain spits as it hits the smokebox. What it might do to somebody's rear does not bear thinking about.

  • A fantastic video I really enjoyed watching it. Now that chime whistle seriously gets on my nerves!

  • getting a wee bit steamy in the ash pit.

  • great video!!!!

  • That's a delightful video Peter. Sensitively filmed with some excellent camera work. The watering and disposal scenes were particularly striking. Add in a few more lineside shots and some more cutaways (!) and you have nearly a quarter of an excellent NNR DVD!

    Keep up the good work

    Mike

  • Mike. With your help, inspiration and encouragement I believe I'm finally getting there. Many many thanks.

  • 6619 is an 0-6-2T - I must have missed this event. Thanks for the record. Al

  • Yes of course. Thanks for pointing out my error Alex. I do apologise...

  • Very good video there! But the whistle doesn't sound like neither of the two GWR whistles.

  • Thanks Philip, Yes 6619's chime surprised me too! Not quite what I was expecting to hear! Sounds distinctly American to me (akin to the S160).

  • The whistles off a norwegien 4-8-0 compound. The owner likes it so he thought he would put it on. The engine is also fitted with a kylchap exhaust system which explanes the sharp beat. I was part of the support crew for 6619 when it visited the North Norfolk Railway. Im the person looking at the back wheel set in the shot of it on the pit.
