PERMANENT WAVES (1980) marked the starting point for Rush's full-blown entry into condensed, accessible progressive rock. They abandoned the 20-minute suites and mystical lyrics for catchy progressive song structures, and more human, worldly-related topics. But, Geddy Lee (vocals/bass/synths), Alex Lifeson (guitars) and Neil Peart (drums/lyrics) didn't lose their brilliance in composition, even if most of the track lengths were fit for radio. ENJOY! ;o)
Good for you, having a good taste in music! People ought to educate their children in good music, like my dad did for me. Neil Peart (the drummer) is doubtless the best drummer EVER, though I like Steward Copeland from The Police too.
@Cereghini Was that Steward dude the one that invented that weird off beat type thing on that song "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"? I don't know what it is called when he does that.
I have absolutely no idea, but that's my favourite Police song. Sorry I can't be of more help. Although, I'm sure he didn't INVENT it. He may just have popularized it.
Everyone should lisent to this song, specially all this new kids from disney selling their crap on MTV. Souless empty people with nothing but money on their minds.
Waiting to see Rush here in Chile in a few weeks ;)
Never fails to ease my mind when I remember why, with a Mass Communications BA, I never got into the field. "Glittering prizes and endless compromises/Shatter the illusion of integrity" clinches it for me :)

@greattools He didn't "invent" anything, but he did get a lot of influence from reggae styles, and gave them his own twist. i love that song, too :)
