so many years later now; a meaningless game in a strike year, neither team made the playoffs... and I can't stop watching and enjoying this game. Why?
true. Dorsett wasa mistreated often in Dallas. Like never getting the ball enough. Especially in the 79 Superbowl when he was OWNING the Steelers. Then in the 2nd half they got away from the run and ended up losing the game. I love Tom Landry. I think he's the greatest coach ever. But he could have been more liberal with a once in a lifetime talent like Tony Dorsett - who should have ended his career with more than 15 thousand yards there in Dallas.
YOu are so right. Landry officially jumped the shark on that Super Bowl because he could have won it if he was smart enough to keep giving Dorsett the ball.
maybe we should thank Tom Landry for how he used Dorsett over the years... while it did save some wear and tear on TD's body, itr also created some mystique around TD's career. Now people have to imagine or speculate just how high he would have put the ydg...if he WAS given the ball 35o times a year and broke down eventually, people would be saying how he wasnt big or tough enough... instead, people marvel at his skill and longevity .

had landry used dorsett more and ran the ball down the steelers throats the cowboys would have won the game.

I'll never bring myself to question Tom Landry's intelligence. Rememberm he had other Hall of Famer's on the offense as well.

Yes I know you are right. It still drives me crazy ! We would have 6 or 7 rings if TD was used properly !!
