  • I am 20 and i love vinyl records please visit my channel to c some of my collection

  • nice- alarm, laurie anderson, aztec carera, buzz cocks, english beat, big country and the BOWIE

  • @CollectorOfMusic Glad you liked it. It brought back some great memories making these videos.

  • That "Oh Superman" single is a jem! Never get rid of it!

  • @RareNoiseUploads Don't worry. it's staying right where it is.

  • 45s were the days when u didnt half to buy the whole album for the hit song.nice collectio.

  • @musicman257 Thanks. Maybe that has now gone full circle in these days of mp3 downloads?

  • I did not expect to see Albertos Y Los Trios Paranoias in your collection, a great single. I remember playing "Kill" as my mum and dad sat in the lounge wondering what in the hell they had done to get me as a son. Readers may not understand that the first words in "Kill" are "I dont give a damn and I dont care am gonna Kill me mum n dad and pull out me hair" And thats the clean version not the full F'ing version LOL

  • I used to love the Alberto's & was lucky enough to see them live a couple of times. That Snuff Rock EP is a great one. I've been trying to get it on CD, but have failed so far :)

  • haha your one cool guy

  • Nice video! I should show some 45s as well. So far I've only shown LPs. Do you have more Beatles or just the two shown here?

  • Thanks. Go ahead & share you own 45's, it would be good to see.

They are the only Beatles 45's that i have, unfortunately :)

  • I can't tell you how fascinating I find this. Congrats on the rare items that you have and this is quite an education for the younger people A great education from a professional indeed.

You would be saddened to know that I sold most of vinyl in 2 periods, when I was 20 and then later on, on Ebay. Sad!

Andy this has tremendous value. John Peel reminds of "The pope smokes dope!"

  • I could have talked for many hours about those records & the stories behind them. Whether they be my stories, or info about the bands etc.

I sold a load of my vinyl LP's years ago. Mainly because of the amount of space they took up. I also sold a fair amount of my 45's collection, believe it or not!

I now regret that, as i expect you do too :)

  • Laurie Anderson is fantastic. Thanks for posting this video, fun to watch.

  • My pleasure, i'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • Great selections. I have an old Black Sabbath picture disc. Perhaps I'll make a response video of it.

I'll try and catch up on this whole series ASAP! I watched part 8 first... whoops.

  • Do it! I'd love to see that picture disc & anything else of interest you may have.

I'll forgive you, this once, for starting in the wrong place :)

  • I have some catching up to to but this is really a great series. Like 1DRock37167 said, it's a shame you couldn't add some audio clips but at least there is BlipFM.

-I think maybe I'll check out High Fidelity later this week.

  • Boy, you do have some catching up to do!

It's a great book, but then so is pretty much anything by Nick Hornby imho :)

  • Buzzcocks, Booker T and the MG's, and BOC...that's quite the collection.

When I was 20, I worked at a music store. One day, someone walked in and said, "hey, do you have those old school CDs? You know, the big, black ones?"

It took every ounce of willpower I had to keep from throttling him.

  • And that's only the "B's" ;)

That's a great story about old school CD's. I can just imagine that happening. I admire your self-control btw :)

  • Quite a collection you have there.

When CDs first came out, it took us several years to get on the bandwagon - but eventually we did. We tried to replace our LPs song for song and methodically compared the CD to the LP to make sure they were the same - and if not, kept both (Queens Greatest Hits comes to mind) Same with the 45s. So ya - we still have a bunch of LPs and 45s and tons and tons of mp3s. :)

  • You sound like a bit of an anorak as well Danny ;)

I'm still replacing a lot of my fave older music with either CD's, or MP3's as well. It's frustrating having to buy them all again. And even though i've bought a lot of that music more than once, i'm still not allowed to use that music in this video.

    What a crazy situation :)

  • Nice walk down the lane of great music past!!

Davy Bowie was awesome in his early days.

  • That's certainly my favourite period of his. Especially the Hunky Dory & Ziggy Stardust albums. Great stuff :)

  • it´s incredible how the music industry changed in the last 20 years. for the good and bad.

  • It's certainly changed a hell of a lot.

    Since the 70's we've been through vinyl, 8-track cartridges, cassettes, CD's & now MP3's. That's a big change :)

  • Too bad youtube is such a prick about playing music, I would love to hear some of your old vinyls.

Interesting, the 45rpm singles here had a much larger hole in the center. I always thought is was a bit odd to have 2 different sizes.

Big Country holds a very special place in my heart!

I loved this tour through your vinyl Andy, cant wait for the next instalment:)

  • You're not the first person to mention about not being able to actually play some of the music. If i'd done that though, the series would have been way too long!!

In a later episode, i do show some U.S imports that i have. I think they've got the larger holes as well. Strange... I always thought that was done so the 45's could be played on a jukebox? :)

  • I would have watched the series no matter how long it is:)

I hadnt thought of the holes being larger for play on the Jukebox, that makes sense. I always assumed it was that way to make you buy those little adaptor things that snapped into the center.

  • 3:24 - Oh Superman!!! Ahhh I love that song! It's strange you mention walking through history, because even though that song was made a very lng time ago, I remember seeing it on TOTP 2 and I still have it on tape, very strange act!

  • wow great collection :D i wish i had the money to buy the one my cousin used to have he had around 7k albums and 2500 singles alas he converted to cd he did save space and sold some really rare ones to pay some bills he did save a few hundred that were special to him .This has been great can't wait for part 2.

  • That sounds like a great collection your cousin had. I'd loved to have had a look through that.

I got rid of 100's of vinyl albums myself, years ago & now regret it :)

  • Now that really WAS a trip down memory lane. I seem to have the same sort of tastes as you do Andy, ie, if it's good, who cares about genre. Can't wait to see the next lot.

  • Hopefully you'll enjoy the rest of the series, where there will be more of the same, just with different artists.

Yep, if it's good, it's good, no matter.

So many people listen to music with aural blinkers on & deny themselves so much enjoyment :)

  • Out of interest, you may have mentioned them but i haven't been able to watch all of this video, what your opion on the smiths?

  • I love The Smiths & they do turn up in a future episode. Although i've only got one vinyl 45 of theirs, not sure why? I thought i had more than that.

I did buy the vinyl albums though & have a lot of their stuff on CD & now MP3.

  • Ah good man! Had a chance to watch all of this video now and must say you a very respectable collection, will keep my eye out for part 2

  • Part 2 is now posted :)

  • I converted much of our LP collection(100+ albums) to digital format using ADS Tech's RK 150 converter box ($45 incl. shipping). Yes! We are keeping our vinyl recordings! Looking forward too the rest of the series, Andy!

  • I'm thinking of getting one of those converters as well Willy. As there's a lot of my vinyl collection which i still can't find anywhere else. Quite a lot of those 45's i haven't heard for years :)

  • What a cool collection. I recognize many of the early 80's names from my brothers vinyl collection. He was into Aztec Camera, Blue Nile, Big Country, Specials, The Beat, Bad Manners, Anne Clark etc. and that's how I developed my love for that music. I have a bout 50 vinyl 45's and a few albums. I love Adam & the Ants. I have the last two albums from them on vinyl but could never find the first one 'Dirk Wears White Socks'. That one is very rare. Ah, I could talk vinyl with you for hours ^___^

  • I did talk about vinyl for hours! Well 90 minutes anyway & i could have talked for far longer, believe me.

It was amazing how many memories going through those 45's bought back.

    Good times :)

  • Yeah watching your vlog brought back some memories for me too. Look forward to the next one Andy. =]

  • Thanks.

I'm probably going to upload one a day. Although i am thinking of uploading another one today, as it's the first day :)

  • Thats quite a collection you have. I dont actually own any music CD'S, but it'll be fun to look back at my DVD'S when they go extinct!

  • Vinyl actually seems to be making a bit of a comeback. Especially for Dance music & that is now spreading to Rock music as well.

I have quite a big collection of CD's as well. But, for me at least, they don't have quite the same appeal :)

  • Wow! Great collection Andy. I have some old singles layin' around somewhere. I should dig them out. 12" as well and LPs. Oh, the memories. hugs, Chris

  • Dig out that vinyl Chris & show it to the world.

You can then have your own trip down memory lane, just like i did :)

  • sadly my collection has disappeared for the most part -mostly because my darling brother stole them and claimed them as part of 'his' collection! Mine were mostly from the 60s and early to mid 70s. The first record I ever purchased with my own money was the 45 of Love me Do with She loves you "Sie Liebt Dich," in German on the flip side - an import I bought in London when I was 7 years old!.

  • Great series Andy - I remember when Zipster went through his collection a couple of years ago - but he only got about half way!

it was great to see some of those records I forgot about ! Look forward to more.

  • I remember Zipster doing that series as well. I enjoyed that too.

it was great fun doing this & bringing back all of those musical memories.

I'd forgotten about some of them as well! :)

  • Nice to see someone with as versatile taste as me :-)

I really like Donald "duck" dunn. :-)

  • I've always had very varied musical taste. For me, that's the only way to be.

I'd hate to have a blinkered view of music, as some people do :)

  • The 45 of Help??? Let It Be? My jaw just dropped on my keyboard!

I came into music in the 80s during the cassette heyday. Sadly, I only have a few albums laying around, but don't even have a turn table. For as much as I LOVE my iPod, I can see the beauty of putting on an actual album/single and wasting the night away listening to music. Blip reminds me of this lately!

Great series. Looking fwd to more! (Cool to see other parts of your house too!)

  • I had a feeling you'd like those Beatles 45's.

Thankfully i didn't really buy any cassettes singles. For me, they just don't have the same appeal as vinyl.

Strangely, i don't have any way of actually playing all of those 45's! I really must get some sort of turntable. Even if it's one of those things that converts vinyl to MP3.

I think there will be approx 7 parts in the end.

Thanks for encouragement btw. I think the comments here already, have proved you right. Not that i ever doubted it :)

  • I meant to say i agree with your thoughts about Blip.

That site has taken me back & helped me re-discover a lot of old songs. Some of which i'd forgotten all about.

I've also started using Blip a little differently & just dipping in & out of the site when i fancy hearing a particular track, or two. Whereas before, i'd go on there for a "session", although i still do that :)

  • Blondie, FTW!

    Quick video response coming...

    :-)

  • Okay, I misquoted - it's not all that quick!

    8-|

  • I did actually find another copy of the very early Blondie single later on & it even had the proper sleeve. WooHoo :)

  • I suppose Blondie's better than Abba yo.

  • Dem's fightin' werds!

  • Andymoosman pnw3s OhCurtBabblbabble.

  • I would have to agree that Blondie are better than ABBA. No offence Curt :)

  • *FAINTS*

  • ill show mine soon,i got some classics.high fidelity, read it about three months ago bit behind the times me but what a funny book.loved fever pitch as well.

  • I like Nick Hornby full stop. But, i think Hi Fidelity is my fave.

I'd love to see your vinyl collection Stuart. I have a feeling there would be some great stuff in there :)

  • "Don't Fear the Reaper", one of my husband's favorites, if I recall correctly.

  • He obviously has good taste :)

  • Dammit! LOL!!! I was going to make a video about my vinyl collection!!! Don't you just hate it when that happens! Oh well, I'll just have to make do with a video response to yours!

  • I've been thinking about doing this video(s) for quite a while now.

I'd love to see some other responses to this.

I love rummaging around in somebody else's record collections :)
