always really liked Candlebox. just more polished and smoother than some of their brethren but just as strong. 90s were a great musical decade. I think time has told us so.
@XA7XX7AX HA HA HA, I could be one of your parents.I'm 40 and my kids were born in 95 and 99. My 16 yr old son LOVES Candlebox, Live, Blind Melon and all the stuff he was force fed as a kid. Makes me a good parent, right?
@scottandrenae i was born in 86 so the 90s grunge and rock stuff was mainly what i was brought up on. i like a lot of bands my parents like, especially CCR
I remember when i first got this CD,i think i was like sixteen, i'd lay on my bed, eyes closed with headphones on and just marvel at the greatness. I'm lucky to have lived during that time. i'll rememeber it till the day i die. Long live grunge. I was lucky enough to see them at a small venue in Boston... In myTop five favorite shows of all time.
I saw them for the first time at Rock Werchter in Belgium many many years ago. They were completely unknown, never heard of them but they totally blew me away! Been a fan ever since !
candle box is better than David Guetta, Taio Cruz, Cascada, La Roux, Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Adam Lambert, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Mike Posner, Usher, Timbaland, 3OH!3, & other shitty pop artists
I see their debut album in almost every CD store I go to, but no one is ever taking a look at it. I did once, but didn't buy it. And then I heard Far Behind >_>
Eh they are relatively unknown. Most people only know "Far Behind" and even then you say "Candlebox, you know they sung Far Behind" and they still don't know until you play it for them.
I must confess, I didn't really care for Candlebox at the time of the first album. It wasn't until I was partying it up at a friend's house and he played the cd and I thought "Holy sht! This is great!" They're a really good band of musicians. The vocalist puts so much heart into his singing, I love his style.
This was the first Candlebox I ever heard..on a college radio station, even before Far Behind. I could not get over how much more primal and honest it was, over the post-grunge posers that were around then...
haha don't get me wrong i like candlebox, but by definition, they're post-grunge, they didn't even form until late 1990. The movement was already in swing and had some mainstream exposure with Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. and by their sound, they're also post-grunge, it's not as dirty-sounding as, say, Nirvana, Mudhoney, or Tad.
Yeah they're really more straight out Rock than grunge. I think the same can be said for Alice in Chains and post-1990 Soundgarden the same way. although they also had Metal elements to them. I think a lot of the bands of the early/mid 90's were tossed into the grunge category because they weren't the pretty, glammed up, in-it-for-the-chicks power rock that was all the rage up until then, hence the term grunge.
they had to be the best band in the 90's ... their sound is so different and so pure within rock. plus ... they speak so much truth not even with just words, but with everything....!!!! keep on child!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey. you should check out black stone cherry. they are a rock n roll band from edmonton kentuckey. the guys play their instruments well and their music rocks. they have a myspace page. you can find them here on youtube as well. and if you like metal, check out the autumn offering. you can see their video for "embrace the gutter" here on youtube.
One of my fav songs, another (somewhat) local band (Seattle), this and Cover Me my favorites-intense melodic ballads. Like this better than the la de da "Far Behind" that propelled them.
It's interesting. Being in Seattle when these guys were around in the '90's, I can't think of a single person I knew that like Candlebox. They were definitely a guilty pleasure. I finally went to check them out at the Showbox in '98(?) once Dave Krusen joined up. It wasn't all that great, but the free show they did @ the Mural in '99 was incredible! Kev's got some serious pipes!
ahhh...Candlebox, brings back good memories of being young. Dudes got a voice thats unforgettable, like Layne Staley. AIC is one of the best bands ever, Mad Season wasn't bad either
are u retarded? he said it was lame that the solo was edited.....you think the song is better with the edited solo? u should lay off the crack and pay attention
they were the first band i ever got to see live then have seen 2 more times since. they had such an impact on those years to come...gettin old i guess..me not the song
i fuckin love this song. hey johnnywade89 who are other 2 bands of the big four? alice in chains and pearl jam are definite favorites youre right there
I might get bashed for this, but i much rather listen to Candlebox then Soundgarden. The only two bands i really like from the big four are Alice n' Chains and Pearl Jam. In grunge I have my big 5, ALice, Pearl, MLB, Mad Season and Candlebox.

candlebox don't get the same respect that Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl jam did. however, Change, You, and far behind are some of the best 90's songs I've ever heard. This band sounds like rock more than any emo band today...
