I can not find the study that says one third men would rape if they could avoid detection. I did however find a survey that said 51% to 60% of men would rape if they could get away with it. The survey had major issues including representative bias amongst one of its many flaws including asking ambiguous questions.

This really has nothing to do with the subject of the video either. Completely asinine.

One's childhood history has no bearing on consent women make in adulthood. So a woman who was sexually abused in childhood can consent to have sex in adulthood, it is illogical to believe that a woman consenting in adulthood is raped.

The reason why there has never been a female 'Newton, Descartes, or Voltaire' is that women were not even allowed to leave the house unchaperoned, let alone go to school, work, or become a philosopher. But I will admit that it requires more than one functioning brain cell to connect the dots.

Since most prostitutes start out as children - who are not legally able to consent to sex, are pimped, and have been abused in their childhood, prostitution is very much rape.

If you watch the entire debate, Wendy Shalit clearly has a dislike toward men in general. She just comes across as a very dislikable person with a chip on her shoulder. The other debaters on her side at least make intelligent arguments as to why prostitution is wrong.

By the way, I believe that prostitution, done safely and consensually between adults isn't wrong and has absolutely nothing to do with sex slaves and child sex abuse

The thing I hated about this entire debate is that they did not specify weather or not the person should be of legal age to sell sex and it was something they chose to do. In this section, the strongest argument I heard from her is "trafficking" "sex slaves" and everything in between that says it was forced, not something the victim chose. So naturally, you are going to agree with what she says because we are all against those things but says nothing of when It is a choice.

This debate could be interesting but I don't think that it addresses the real issue. For example if you believe that it is wrong to pay for sex it does not necessarily follow that you would think it is so wrong to warrant criminal penalties. Lying is wrong but its perfectly legal. Also the real problem is not the transfer of funds which is legal (obviously), it is the sexual promiscuity that follows. A better debate would be, do you think that sex outside of a committed relationship is wrong?

" are you seriously asking for empirical data to show there are male prostitutes? i do not support prostitution. but your right, the debate strayed way off the topic. the engagement ring argument held promise. but dating was not used as an example of a socially accepted form of males essentially paying for sex. my statement is an a priori critique of the affimative sides complete lack of equal gender representation and misandry. the reason three feminists don't mention male prostitution is that it would be too hard to demonize men as exclusively victimizers after.
