Compare it to the Cayman S... i rode in one a while back, and even just by riding in the passenger seat it seems weirdly organic

Why did they choose the PDK version of the Cayman? That takes away one of its greatest aspects - the flawless six-speed Porsche manual transmission! Yes it's an amazing achievement, but in the mountain-road environment I think the manual is the better "driver's transmission."

I prefer something a little less scary! :P Something I won't feel like I'll wrap around a pole by accident on a rainy evening. Cause a slight miss in the throttle, and spinning like a top you'll end up. :P
@untouchabledriver87 the one i drove was a 993. It was on a track, and it was pretty amusing there, but i dont think id dare to drive like that on a normal road.
For a just hands down driving machine i would take a z06, the zr1 is to much and the z06 is nothin fancy juts a 7.0l and a steering wheel. But i semi agree with the cayman because ive test driven one and it just feels like a true sports car

@omarofuae The Viper is no longer in production (and was terrible when it was in production) and the GT-R has too many computers controlling it. A driver's car is a car which is both nimble and engaging to drive (when driving the GT-R, one feels like the electronics are controlling the wheel, not the driver). Ultimately, they got it right: the Cayman is the best driver's car, followed by the R8 and MX-5 Miata.

I suggest you do to a used car lot and test drive (mash it) a 2006+ MX-5. It may not be that quick in a straight line (0-60 about 7.0sec) but it handles fantastic due to: 2,500lb curb weight, RWD, 50/50 weight balance, independent suspension, small dimensions. Easily the best handling used car in the 12-15k range (for a clean one).
a skyline would smoke a zr1 and its better built and yu can drive it around a track the zr1 is fast in a straight line when yu turn the wheel yu just get alot of smoke and wheel spin its fun but yu can do that with a 2k car with 100hp like an ae86
Sorry, but in a Road & Track (2006 or 07 I think) test the Skyline GT-R is about as quick accelerating as the 911 Turbo and Zo6. But it spanked them by almost 3-seconds a lap at Willow Springs raceway. Three seconds is HUGE.
Oi Yanks stick to drag racing and NASCAR. Real drivers and real drivers cars come from Europe and Japan and not the USA . So stick to testing how fast a car is in a straight line and not around bends. We've got Top Gear and Fifth Gear for that ;)

it handles great,
suspentions a little stiff but not any worse then the avrage sports car.
its DAM fast around the track.
its got the most usable performance thank to its advanced AWD system.
its mid priced, more than the Mustang but less then the Corvette.
and its good for all year round driving unlike half of these cars.

I have been reading automobile magazines for 10+ years. Reviews are totally off and incorrect.
1. A 2010 Buick LaCrosse interior does not look like a BMW interior.
2. The suspension of a Lexus LS430 is not stiff and uncomfortable.
3. The Cadillac CTS-V is not a competitor to the Audi A8.

Why did they choose the PDK version of the Cayman? That takes away one of its greatest aspects - the flawless six-speed Porsche manual transmission! Yes it's an amazing achievement, but in the mountain-road environment I think the manual is the better "driver's transmission."
I'm glad she won, though, because before seeing this video I'd already decided to buy a Cayman once I can afford it.

mid engine 327 hp the Porsche IS best of the pack and then some.
I Like the looks of the Z car best and Like how it performs the engine is push back as far as they could get it but it's too big to get it into a true mid format but mid engine and 327 HP anyone can appreciate that.

there are people talking, that the miata shouldn't be on the contest, but nobody gives a rellay good "argument" to say that, sure, it's not so "fancy" like a porsche or the R8, but the miata would'nt be in the contest, if the miata don't "deserve" it. (sorry if my english is bad)

haha I love that comment "Gosh... I hope the won't hate me for this, but the Cayman is better than any 911..." haha I test drove a Cayman S, and I'd have to agree with him. They are worlds better when it comes to a consistant, predictable, and driver-friendly application. Perfect balance of weight and power in my opinion. :)

@MajkeTiTvoje haha Indeed they are! I also test drove an older 911, it was a '92 911 Turbo, and it was far from linear acceleration! haha It was very squirely coming out of turns. I prefer something a little less scary! :P Something I won't feel like I'll wrap around a pole by accident on a rainy evening. Cause a slight miss in the throttle, and spinning like a top you'll end up. :P

For a just hands down driving machine i would take a z06, the zr1 is to much and the z06 is nothin fancy juts a 7.0l and a steering wheel. But i semi agree with the cayman because ive test driven one and it just feels like a true sports car

@omarofuae The Viper is no longer in production (and was terrible when it was in production) and the GT-R has too many computers controlling it. A driver's car is a car which is both nimble and engaging to drive (when driving the GT-R, one feels like the electronics are controlling the wheel, not the driver). Ultimately, they got it right: the Cayman is the best driver's car, followed by the R8 and MX-5 Miata.

@anthonywilliamhughes mustang = ugly. porsche design is so much better as far as exterior aesthetics. also, the porsche cayman s will run circles around the gt500 on a track and get way more looks than the mustang. explain why motortrend and can & driver pick the cayman s over the corvette gs and lotus evora????

It's funny you would think a real driver's car would be a manual lol. I really love all of these cars but I dont think the mx-5 is as good as they made it out to be. Maybe it's because they were at mazda speedway lol

I suggest you do to a used car lot and test drive (mash it) a 2006+ MX-5. It may not be that quick in a straight line (0-60 about 7.0sec) but it handles fantastic due to: 2,500lb curb weight, RWD, 50/50 weight balance, independent suspension, small dimensions. Easily the best handling used car in the 12-15k range (for a clean one).

Live axle and undersized wheels and tires definitely drop the Mustang GT 5.0 and GT500 models down several notches when it comes to handling feel.

a skyline would smoke a zr1 and its better built and yu can drive it around a track the zr1 is fast in a straight line when yu turn the wheel yu just get alot of smoke and wheel spin its fun but yu can do that with a 2k car with 100hp like an ae86

Sorry, but in a Road & Track (2006 or 07 I think) test the Skyline GT-R is about as quick accelerating as the 911 Turbo and Zo6. But it spanked them by almost 3-seconds a lap at Willow Springs raceway. Three seconds is HUGE.

Oi Yanks stick to drag racing and NASCAR. Real drivers and real drivers cars come from Europe and Japan and not the USA . So stick to testing how fast a car is in a straight line and not around bends. We've got Top Gear and Fifth Gear for that ;)
