It's called a chain sinnet not a finger loop braid or a chain stitch FYI. Better to tie the loose ends in a slip know and use the same techinque, that way you have the center of the rope
a fellow I worked with taught me to use this method for those 50' extension cords. It's great because it leaves the business ends readily available and you only have to undo the amount you need.
if you start on the ends you dont need to find the middle

This not is a life saver if you have alot of rope say 300 feet and you wana drop it down and not have it get tangled thank for showing how its done
