plymouth is what ubuntu now uses as default to boot and make it look nice at the same time. if you just type in "ubuntu plymouth" in the search bar then you will see that the thing that appears after grub and before the login screen is plymouth. hope I helped.
linux is so awesome. The only bad thing so far for me is that the video editing its to weak,i have used openshot, but its buggy as hell, kdenlive crashes to much and dont have any good features, and the interface its a hell of a mess.I hoppe openshot gets better, because it didnt worked to well.
@gamealcohol I agree, pitivi, kino, and avidemux are okay but still not good enough as well as what you said. Maybe this is where a company steps in and makes a good program for all our needs and doesnt surpass the 20 dollar mark. I'd buy it lol
@teshlau it should be pretty good for a LTS release but to be honest i cant wait for 11.04 because then they will implement more things like gnome shell which they couldnt possibly put into an LTS for now.
Is not stable , on my laptop it freezes a few seconds after login, the new boot method introduced bugs and are not fixed all yet, do not install it as your primary OS, play with it on a VM or install it in an other partition.
Too late. I upgraded already. So far I don't have any problem yet. I was hoping that it would boot faster than 9.10 but it didn't. So, maybe I shouldn't be that excited.
what you need to do if you havent already is.... install "bum" and turn off anything you dont want starting up, for example, no printer then turn off cups. No bluetooth then turn that off. If your not blind then turn off visual assistance, and so on. also do the same in the "system, preferences, startup applications", make sure to come back here and tell me how it went lol good luck
I think that if you clean install it it would be faster. But is posible to tweek it a little to make it faster, go to the forums and post a bootchart of your boot

That is depressing; WMM is one of the worst programs I have EVER used.. especially the new LIVE one.

how stable is alpha 3? I'm so tempted to upgrade. But I worry that it might make my computer unusable.
