  • Id Rather Drink Soy Latte's And Drive A Volkswagon with My Mac Rather Than Take Anger Pills And Fix Viruses On My PC. LOL Just Kidding I Know You Like Your Viruses Pc Fanboys

  • bla.......bla.......bla.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • he must have been stoned if he was talking to an apple guy :P

  • @NickLock34 Considerably it could be in a certain sense. :P You can carry it with you...as long as you have access to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. xD

  • @NickLock34 I think you need to look up Mac Mini in a search engine and educate yourself. :-)

    - Jason

  • @NickLock34 It *is* a computer. What do you think it is?

    - Jason

  • great job. i kinda wanna get one now cuz it looks great. i already have a macbook pro though. heehee

  • Keyboard and mouse need to purchase also?

  • only naive people buy oped macs

  • @nukec What exactly is an "oped" Mac?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia overpriced like..

  • @ThoughtsMedia i think he means open

  • Comment removed

  • fits in your pocket!

  • How much was this in total? Im looking at buying one :)

  • ok thanks

  • very nice video but i missed a few spottes umm does it hav all the software as a say mac book fo example garage band and pictruebooth (or what ever its called :D) so could you please resspond to this and explaine what it has like in it and can you plug in stereos can you put CDs in it? thank you

    -martin

  • @themartinghost Yes, it comes with iLife 2011, which includes Garage Band, iPhoto, etc. The Mac Mini has a DVD drive - I'm quite certain I mention that in the video. I'm not sure what "stereos" are - you mean headphones? Yes, it has a headphone jack.

    - Jason

  • but does it run crysis 2 ?

  • you are excited

  • omg i bought an hp keyboard and the duracells lasted 2 years in that shit ha ha

  • Are you drunk?

You can't hold the mac in your hand :-P

  • @tjalfedaugaard Drunk? No, I don't drink. I can't tell if your second line is a question ("Why can't you hold the Mac in your hand properly?") or a a statement ("You're not supposed to pick up the Mac and hold it in your hand."). So you tell me. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia It was a joke :-D

But what do you think about the mac mini?

Was it quick before you switched the ram?

  • @tjalfedaugaard I never even booted it up with the 2GB of RAM, so I can't say. I imagine it would work just fine.

    - Jason

  • This is gorgoues! Im thinking of buying one in the next couple months. But i know if i do, a new 2011 model will be released!

  • as if you could be "anti-apple" !? WTF

  • @ilovelilyandgaga Look up my name online (Jason Dunn) and "Apple" and you'll find lots of things that I've said that are anti-Apple. There's a lot about the company that I don't like (just read the comments on my Macbook Air 13 unboxing).

    - Jason

  • yes the battery life sucks, but its great to have a wireless keyboard

  • Buy the mac first and the ram on the interrnet!!!!!

  • Yes I agree, 4gb ram is really expensive, for me to upgrade to 8 gb, is gonna cost me about £200, which for that amount, I can get a netbook, so I think I'm gonna stick with my 3gb, but probably will upgrade to 4gb in the future.

  • @mumihp Unless you're running a virtual machine - such as Windows on top of OX S - having 8 GB of RAM will get you basically nothing. 4 GB is lots for day to day use, even if you're a heavy multi-tasker.

    - Jason

  • I'm sure if apple lowers thier prices, then a lot more people would buy thier stuff, with the current recession going, people would just go for the cheaper comps/laptop over apple.

  • @mumihp Ah, but that's just it - Apple doesn't want to lower their prices because they don't *want* everyone buying a Mac. Just like BMW and Lexus doesn't want everyone driving their cars. Steve Jobs believes that only a certain type of person should buy a Mac - someone that's willing to spend the money on the premium experience.

    - Jason

  • the only apple product I only is a ipod touch 2g, and I think Apple overprices there product, but I admire the creativity, I admit Iove apple packaging, and the style + looks of thier products, so I give them props, I been using windows over 10 years, and if the mac line was cheaper I would buy it, but I can't justify myself, in paying about a grand on mac when I can get a comp or laptop with the best hardware out there for cheaper, so I've stick with my sony viao.

  • Is this product worth buying? I can't afford a macbook or mac desktop.

  • @Lazybabyz If you don't ask too much of it, yes, it's a worthwhile little desktop computer - it's fairly fast given the hardware, it's completely silent, and OS X works quite well on it.

    - Jason

  • When are you gonna do the review?

  • @sheppard56omega Yeah, it is long overdue, isn't it? Maybe this week before CES makes my life crazy... :-)

    - Jason

  • @Dyingdeathwolf ya they just cost so much! thanks a lot apple

  • Great video I'm really considering getting one of these now

  • @flamingzippo123 same I just have to save up for it

  • I HAVE THE EXACT SAME KNIFE AS YOU ;D

  • I honestly don't understand the point of un-boxing. Who really cares that much about the packaging? LOL

  • @lucschott Did you watch the video? I doubt I spent more than two seconds talking about the packaging - it's about the hardware inside it.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Oh trust me, I watched the video. I also gave you a thumbs up and a favorite. I was talking about Unboxing as a whole. How thorough you were with reviewing the product was well appreciated. I honestly thing you should have named it something else, Unboxing doesn't really seem fit.

  • @lucschott Oh, OK. :-) If you're talking about the unboxing videos where the person doesn't talk and literally it's them just taking it out of the package, then yeah, I agree - I sure don't watch those! My videos are really more of a "first impressions" video, but "Unboxing" was and still sort of is the "hot term" for those types of videos. Maybe in 2011 I'll change to calling these something different - who knows. :-)

    - Jason

  • Mac OS X Kitty cat

  • The Mac mini can be used as a living room computer by hooking it up to a HDTV. With that in mind would you go for google tv or a Mac mini for entertainment purposes?

  • @Ja1258 I haven't used a Google TV device yet myself; I guess it really depends on whether you're looking to integrate your cable box in the mix; that's what Google TV brings. If it's more about Internet video, or accessing your own DVD/video library, I think a Boxee Box would be your best choice. I'm just not a fan of having a full-blown computer connected to a TV. I've done it a few times, and it's always a bit of a hassle.

    - Jason

  • Are the specs good enough to edit with Final Cut Pro / Sony Vegas?

  • How is this computer for adobe programs?

  • i love in it...really just few month back i even hate apple fans..(why ..seriously without any reason..!) ...but now after buying few apple products ...i wanna say, the guys are really king in their field ....yeah ..i love them but i've a little excuse ..hmmm.....( yeah yeah ..roses have thrones with them).....apple products are so much expensive absolutely their price met their quality and experience but spending money is a big problem ...LOL....

  • i bought this for 599.99$ on amazon.com!!!

  • i got a really yerning question, do i have to use HDMI for the mac mini or is it some way possible to use AVI or anyother to connect it to a moniter (just curious) and is it possible to play COD 4 on it

  • @THisIsBLuurr ignore the first part of the question i typed the questions before that part of the review but still curious about COD4

  • should I get a MacMini 'cuz I want to have one just for its awesomenness but can i also use wndows movie maker or someting alse on it? for converting and editing my videos

  • @WzzupThijs Windows Movie Maker is a Windows-only program. The Mac Mini comes with iMovie, which is part of the iLife Suite. The Mac Mini uses OS X, not Windows. I think you need to do some reading. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia thnx do you know if I should buy one this year or should I wait until there comes a new version?

  • @WzzupThijs It's your money, and your decision - I don't tell people what they should or shouldn't buy. I will say though that this Mac Mini is still fairly new, so Apple isn't going to replace it with a new model until, I'd guess, late 2011 or even later. Apple doesn't update the Mini very often.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia 'Mkay thnx

  • how much was it?

  • what is inside this thing???

  • @The2323full Technology!! [All the specs are in the video description]

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia what is this thig at 1st i fort it was a laptop

  • Never got even 6 months ever from my logitec keyboard or mouse... Ever

  • @topgearmad1 Yes, it should be fine for those tasks - though keep in mind, when it comes to HD video, the CPU will limit the performance, especially upon output. It will just take longer, that's all. :-)

    - Jason

  • I though geeks drive priuss?

  • If i get this can i use a mouse and keyboard from my pc? also can i use a vga monitor

  • @haloman180 Yes, I believe that should work without any problems - assuming your mouse and keyboard don't need some sort of Windows-only software to function (which would be very unusual). VGA is support if you buy a VGA adaptor from Apple.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia np i have never heard of this "mac mini" thing so i have never heard of peach or apple or whatever you call it

  • where did u get the knife, want it

  • @QUAY1E I already answered this question just two comments below yours. :-)

    - Jason

  • my magic mouse and bluetooth keyboard have a battery live of about 3 months or something likt that and i'm using them nearly every day

  • @TheRealDaftPunk First, no need to swear. It adds nothing to your point. The capacity on the one I have is 2 GB, but you can can up to 8 GB capacity. Check out Think Geek - they sell them. Prices range from $50 to $99.

    - Jason

  • Thats total BS dude... look at any site that lets customers review macs.... Its near 100% total customer satisfaction!!!!

  • @frontier1701 What's total BS? It's hard to explain myself if you're not going to be specific. :-)

    - Jason

  • I was referring to Apple letting only a select few review their products (possibly to get a loaded response)... Cant remember anytime any legit reviewer trashed their products... Apple just doesn't want to hand their products to probable "Apple haters" for review as its a waste of everyone time...I've got to say (and did in your 2nd video) it was nice to see a well spoken, intelligent review by someone who knows what their talking about. Thanks

  • @frontier1701 Well, you're welcome to believe whatever you wish, but in my fairly broad circle of technology bloggers and writers, Apple has a very well-established policy of only releasing review hardware to a select few people - and all of those people are notoriously pro-Apple (Walt Mossberg, etc.). Many of my peers have to go purchase Apple hardware to review it. That's not BS, it's a fact. Apple plays by their own rules, as always.

    - Jason

  • hey. i'm thinking of getting a mac mini but i dont want a LED cinema display anymore so i want to know weather a Acer T230Hbmidh 23 Inch Full HD Wide Touchscreen Monitor would work?

if so would it enable my MM to be a touch screen divice?

  • @alexxjones1 Yes, you can use a different monitor with the Mac Mini - but I don't think OS X has any touch screen support....

    - Jason

  • most of the tech people have the same voice.....

  •  ftw

  • kittykat!

  • Haha I like this dude wow only 6 weeks lame

  • He Said Noob.

    Oh Lord..

  • the mac mini is just a mini computar and you supply your own mouse display and keyboard

  • i want this computer but i have a question :can u use it on a pc????( i HATE PC!!!) because i want a mac!!!

  • @MrBakuganfan123 Your question is so confusing, I don't even know where to start. This is a Mac running OS X. It's not a Windows computer.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia sorry man im quebecer so my english is not so good!

  • @MrBakuganfan123 u can install windows on it. look for info in apple.com or on youtube

  • @MrBakuganfan123 you can run windows on a mac via boot camp or using parallels or VM ware fusion so you can switch between OSX and Windows without the need to restart computer

  • @lkirkup thanks man

  • @MrBakuganfan123 no probs anything else let me know I have 12+ months on knowledge from magazines and my Dad owns a 2007 Macbook

    Take Care

  • okay call me crazy but ....... WHAT IS THE THING!!!!!

  • @rubycheer101 What "thing"? You mean the Mac Mini? It's a computer.

    - Jason

  • sd card slot on the back!!!!! is apple serious

  • Hahaha, "Kitty Kat" loll

  • @Magazinonow I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the Magic Mouse uncomfortable to use - I really dislike it.

    - Jason

  • "i feel like a bit of a n00b" love it man! :D

  • Is this "made in China" ?

  • @vitalalive69 Unknown. Probably - most things are.

    - Jason

  • say gorgeous one more time and ill slap you

  • @kilro22 Gorgeous! GORGEOUS! Come on, bring it! ;-)

    - Jason

  • WOW i never knew that there was an "OS Kitty Kat"!!!! im such a mac noob too -.-

  • cool

  • @FlyingEye1000 Why do you think I sound nervous? I don't remember being nervous. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia on 9:01 u were damn nervous

  • @Madhoosudhan You mean when I fumbled with it? That has nothing to do with being nervous - it's just a slip. The Mac Mini has smooth edges, so it's not exactly easy to hold.

    - Jason

  • HELLO FRIEND WANTS TO KNOW WHICH IS THE TOTAL PRICE OF THE MINI MAC THE KEYBOARD AND THE MOUSE WITH THE WHOLE TAXES? THANK YOU

AND ALREADY YOU THAT FINAL CUT PRO IF IT WORKS WELL WITH MINIMAC

  • I want to know if the mac mini can support to work with final cut pro

  • @disidentes1 I'd love to be able to answer that, but Apple, being the completely dickish company that they are, doesn't provide free trials of Final Cut Pro, or even Final Cut Express. I'd like to check out Final Cut Express myself, but don't want to pay $200 for something that "might" be better. It's REALLY frustrating. So you'll have to find someone that has the software already... :-(

    - Jason

  • @disidentes1 yeah, of course it can, i recommend you getting 8gb of ram, if you film allot, with a 500gb hardrive, and the fastest proccesor, and if you edit allot, don't even think about the magic mouse, get a microsoft based mouse, apple mouses are only made for quick computing, they get really greasy from sweat, trust me, mine does it all the time when i edit

  • haha nice knife :D

  • why the hell would you buy Macs this imac min iwhatever you call it is so much like $999 Australian Dollers and it doesn't come with a Dam Keyboard or Mouse For a Acer Windows pc you get DVi,VGA maybe Audio cable Keyboard and mouse for $288 Australian Dollers which is pretty much a bagain unlike macmini cost like 700 dollers more it should come with a keyboard and mouse and more better sepcs then a pc but good review dude

  • If you buy a imac, you actually save money over a period of time.

  • @Mruglytomatoes how? that's just what mac users tell themselves to sleep at night. I have a quad-core that I bought 2 yrs ago with a 8800GT (that costs less than a 100 bucks stand-alone) and still plays everything without too much hassle. The PC cost me 800 bucks without the monitor. I have no problems with it and won't upgrade anytime soon.

  • I got like almost a year once when I didn't use my mouse that much...

  • I think the Apple on top is plastic for the wifi or bluetooth (or both) antenna.

  • @Yamcha67 Well, it seems like some people can get a lot longer out of it than that, so I guess I'll have to wait and see. I do turn the mouse off when I'm not using it...

    - Jason

  • hahaha kitty cat:)

  • intel core series are a bigger chip and produce more heat and for this small of a pc heat and a bigger chip is a problem

  • @splice247 So? I would have been perfectly happy with the size of the last-generation Mac Mini if it means a higher-performance CPU in this one. Besides, Intel has mobile versions of the Core chips, and if a laptop can rock a Core i7, why can't a Mac Mini?

    - Jason

  • soy lates? what? hahah

  • My friend gets 3-4 months of battery with the keyboard. Maybe the Apple guy was wrong. ;)

  • @woods72 Yeah, turns out he takes his Macbook out of the room where his Magic Mouse is, so the Magic Mouse is probably going into a high-power "seek" mode where it's looking for the Macbook...he didn't tell me this until yesterday. :-( So hopefully I'll get better battery life than he's getting. ;-)

    - Jason

  • I hear ya, not much of a apple fan but I do recognize that they do know how to set trends for technology.

  • i want the flash drive knife thingy

  • @zain4cutes It's a Swiss Army branded knife. Go to Think Geek and search for "Swiss Army" and you'll find it. They have a 2 GB version (the one I have), 4 GB, and it looks like they now have an 8 GB version (which I've been waiting for). :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia think geek has awesome stuff and very nice review!! :D

  • Is the top completely flat?

  • @jaowseph Yes, it's completely flat. Does it not look completely flat? :-)

    - Jason

  • @ccmsfights we're like brothers :3 wanna be my friend?

  • I'm having dinner while watching this :)

  • panther, tiger, leopard, kitty cat.lol....i get mixed up too. i love the way it looks but why so EXPENSIVE!

  • Wow, interesting Jason. Thank you for your video man ;)

  • Great first impressions Jason.

    A couple "corrections" -

    1) It's OS (ten) not OS (ex).

    2) my magic mouse is on original batteries, sitting around 8 months right now.

  • @rockinthesixstring Thanks, glad you liked the videos. Curious about the "OS X" thing, I asked four Mac people I know. All said that both terms get used, though according to Apple, it's "Mac OS ten" and nothing else. Kind of a mouthful - I'll just call it "Kitty Cat". Oh, all agreed though that anyone who actually cares is being pedantic. ;-) Interesting about the Magic Mouse - maybe my friend has a defective one...?

    - Jason

  • you maybe said it in the video and maybe i din't hear it (i have ADD :p)

don't you think it's a bit overpriced for what you get?

  • @darkazer451 Until I power it up and use it, I can't really comment on it being "overpriced". If you look only at the specs, yes, it's expensive for the performance you get. But you can't ignore the engineering, the design, the quality, and the Apple customer service (which is always rated at the top, or near the top). Apple is a luxury brand, and you pay for that. You can find cars $10K apart in price that have the same horsepower...but different rides. So we'll see what I think. :-)

    - Jason

  • @skrbicdu Yes, as I mentioned in part two of this video, I'm going to be shooting a video of my experiences from the moment I press the power button on the Mac Mini. Will I share it online? Depends on if I think there's something interesting to be shared. :-) I'll certainly talk about OS X in the video review, but I'll want to use it for a few weeks at least, maybe longer, so I can give it a fair shake.

    - Jason

  • @skrbicdu Well, that's part of what this experiment aims to find out: if I've been missing anything. ;-)

    - Jason

  • @skrbicdu , it should take him 10 sec. max to unbox it ! #LOL

  • My wireless apple keyboard gets about 6 months with constant use.

  • @SoonerCougarFan And it's using Bluetooth? That doesn't seem possible...?

    - Jason

  • "kitty cat" LOL!

  • mac mini is kinda useless , imac 27" is the best choice you have:D

  • @TheMRamstaff I don't need, or want, an all-in-one computer. I already have four monitors in my office: two 24", one 27", and one 32" LCD TV. I don't have space for an iMac, nor would I want to spend that much money on an experiment.

    - Jason

  • wow so now i know someone who doesn't own a iphone.

  • Mac Sucks!

Jason, whats your laptop? < I'm Curious :D

  • @AbdullaAlKhanin Right now? My main laptop is the Dell Vostro V13. I still use my Dell XPS M1330 now and then. I also use the HP dv2 regularly, and an HP Mini 1000. I have a few older laptops kicking around that don't get regular use...

    - Jason

  • 4 to 6 i get like 2 weeks out of mine

  • i can take a nap till you unbox this "brick" !!!!

  • Ive had my imac for longer than a few weeks and both mouse and keyboard are on original batteries...

  • Their keyboard sucks.. We had one in Tech-Ed. Months I've typed on it, and I never got use to it.

  • @DirtyMidgetStudios Yeah, I'm not sure how much I'll like the keyboard. It's basically a laptop keyboard, but typing on a full-sized desktop keyboard will certainly feel nicer. :-)

    - Jason

  • i want to know if i can use a different monitor if i use a the mini?

  • @mysticabib You can use any monitor you want, as long as it supports DVI, HDMI, or mini DisplayPort...Apple sells several very expensive adaptors for VGA, etc.

    - Jason

  • i wanna switch my windows to mac !

  • Good Review, can't wait till part 2 is up

  • the mac jokes at the end were funny.

  • I'm ANTI-MAC. I don't like the trendiness, and the hype that goes with apple's line. I owned 3 apple products, and all three DIED within a year. Way over-priced. As for the bluetooth keyboard and poor battery life, I suspect that's about right because bluetooth has quite poor reception range vs IR or RF. I'll never get pulled in again. I'll buy two or three PCS for the same amount.

  • @VideoGuyNC Ouch...all three died within a year? That sucks. Were they all iPods? iPods don't seem to be made very well - my wife had an iPod Shuffle that died a month after the one year warranty was up. Regarding Bluetooth, actually it's the opposite: Bluetooth has a range of 30 feet (Class 2), which makes it more power hungry than the RF used in keyboards which typically has a range of 4-8 feet. Bluetooth 2.x is just too power hungry of a technology to use.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Actually, two were Macbook air, the third was an older desktop model that I bought new in February of that year, and it died in November of that year. I also tried an iphone 3gs, but the phone performance was horrible. When I returned it, the sales person asked, "doesn't it work online?" to which I replied, "yes, but it doesn't work well at all for it's designed purpose, A PHONE!" Beware of apple hype.

  • @VideoGuyNC Oh, I should add that it's possible that Apple made the keyboard a Bluetooth Class 3 device, which has a range of 3.28 feet, but Bluetooth is still more power-hungry than RF.

    - Jason

  • Awesome, Awesome video. I'm so glad you made the plunge, or the flight I should say to a Mac! Hope this is a beginning to a new era of reviews.

    -Anthony

  • @MyiPodReviewer Well, realistically, nothing has changed: you won't see me reviewing iMacs, or Macbooks, etc., because Apple doesn't send that stuff out to reviewers like me. At best, now that I have a Mac I might be able to review OS X software or accessories, but that's about it. You should check out Apple Thoughts if you want Mac reviews - they review hardware and software on a regular basis there...

    - Jason

  • Good video. Very informative.

  • PART 2 PLEASE !!!

  • @DI3GX HD processing isn't quite done yet...soon. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia hahaa osex its version 10! os 10! next one should be osXI :O

  • this unit does look sweet, are you going to install windows on it and maybe you should do gaming vids and how fps differs on the mac plaform vs. the pc platform running similar software
