I generally hate spiders, but some of them are kind of cute when someone isn't chasing you with it or when it's not anywhere near you :D.

And that was actually kind of cool. The spider ate/drank all the water :].

@MohawkMasters This is a Northern Black Widow, you are probably talking about a Southern Black Widow. No matter, both are still the deadliest two spiders in all of North America. (in a 9 year study period there were 69 reported deaths from the Northern Black Widow alone). Why this person is holding one is beyond me but they are fascinating creatures.

No they can't kill you so fast. Yes they are toxic but the amount of venom they inject is so small. If you're a healty adult and non allergic you'll be fine.

@DJSoultrain8 no need to leave mean comments, I know they're venomousand I know what I'm doing. Of course I don't recommend handling them unles you are familiar with them. Some people can be more sensitive than others to bites. It depends on that, and the severity and location of the bite also. For me, bites from widow spiders are very mild, but still sting and itch.

lol, everyone is born with different venom tolerances. It's like how some people are allergic to poison ivy and break out in rashes, and some people aren't allergic and don't react at all.

@DJSoultrain8 Wrong, black widows are not very dangerous, depending on your age and where it bites though. If you are above the age of 10, and below the age of, lets say 60, your chances of being killed by a black widow is very slim. But it also depends on where it bites.

Thank you for posting this. I have misted my spiders here @ home. You wouldn't believe it, but I was bit by a Northern Black Widow spider (not 'her' intent). It was accidental. I was feverish and had a reaction (obviously), but survived it. They do NOT bite for no reason. Our encounter was purely coincidental.

@alexnaruzoom The Sydney Funnel Web and the Brazilian Wandering spider are two that I know that are more dangerous than the black widow and the brown recluse. Other spiders that can give a nasty bite are the whitetail spider and the hobo spider.
