READ IF YOUR ATTEMPT to jailbreak FAILED. disable the passcode on ur iphone and then put it on sleep mode (lock button) before starting the jailbreak. dont touch it until told. hopefully it helps, thumbs up this comment so everyone sees it. (am not trying to get any attention, just wanna help!)

Worked great, only took minutes. Thanks!! Note: make sure you have the lock screen lock disabled, and when running the absinthe program, make sure its located in the same folder that you unzipped the rest of the files, ie don't drag the program alone to your desktop and run it.

1.- when extracting absinth from the zip folder, EXTRACT EVERY SINGLE FILE (not just the absinth.exe file) to a folder, i suggest creating a folder called "absinthe" or what ever on your desktop. then follow every single step on this video.

@DixForce that's probably because you upgraded the firmware to 5.0.1 and dind't restore the device with shift-click on the Restore Button, selecting the 5.0.1.ipsw file. I'd recommend you try that. The other thing that probably happened was that you didn't modify the absinthe, I mean you didn't run it with compatibility mode (Xp service pack 2 or 3). I hope this helps you. All this information I'm giving to you is based on the untethered jailbreak for iphone 4 on iOS 5.0.1

I can't get passed the 'Beginning to Jailbreak' step and have tried probably everything that came to mind, including switching USB ports, other computers, restoring to older FW build but it's just stuck there...Plus my 4S is brand new, never been used before. If you get stuck on the last section of jailbreak once absinthe app is on phone "absinthe is setting things up" screen here is what I did for it to work. Unplug iphone then replug hit "jailbreak" it will say your last JB was unsuccessful unplug replug to try again. OK once you unplug double tap home button hold an app till they all begin to wiggle. Close all apps that are running. Plug in again and run the absinthe.exe again (starting over) and it worked for me. hope this helps!!!
