hey, nice built! Did you add something like a resistance spring / magnet to the HDD galvo? Since the two I extracted only have a weak positioning magnet which doesn´t reset the arm fast enough.
The laserpointer is connected to an universal ac power adapter at 3V. The green solid state laser have to be cooled, because it fastly warm up and will break if its not cooled. I put the laser into an old external aluminium hard drive case and connected an old pc-fan too.
I used the moving coils from the hard drives "read/write arm", connected these to an audio amp via audio cables. X-Axis to the right channel, Y-Axis to the left channel and controlling the Mirrors with an audio tool on my notebook while panning the audio signals from one to the other channel.
