You did a good job and if this was court the judge may have thrown it out. However it's all in vain. I speak from experience. I've had many conversations like this and it doesn't matter. The bottom line is they are the FEDERAL MAFIA and they have a GUN TO YOUR HEAD and you will pay OR ELSE that's what it is. This situation in Los Angeles is OUT OF CONTROL. There a fucking sign on the 405 South that says "cone zone" "$1000 fine". Then they hit you with taxes and fees and it's $3,500.00 in court.
I just had an almost identical conversation with a similarly robotic and dim witted PVB rep. I wrote them a letter requesting the audio recording for precisely this purpose. People need to see the inequitable way the PVB does business. How did this end? Got any advice on where to go after a similar conversation?

Your logic is terrible, and you're a pain in the ass. Just because it's theoretically possible doesn't mean that's what must have happened. Also, by definition "undetected mistake" is undetected. Just because an undetected mistake may be technically possible, doesn't mean they should give every douche who claims he didn't get the mail an extension. It's obvious you're just trying to make argument.
Maybe I am a pain in the ass, however, this isn't the first time they have failed to deliver documents afterwhich there are no avenues of appeal, only to pay the fine. They actually refuse to grant you an appeal after a short cutoff, how convenient? Furthermore, this my 3rd call with them, it gets frustrating. All I wanted was anf explanation indicating that it is possible for them to make a mistake and that there are other avenues a person can take once mistake has occurred other then paying.
@flyhighone here's a "sure fire" way to get out of paying a fine. stop screwing yourself by being in the position where you get a ticket. no ticket, no fine, easy.
@flyhighone You are a pain in the ass, but a pain with reason. You are just trying to get some clarity and closure to this experience. I get it. You are also trying to get a fee waived, but thats sensible too... so my question of tonight is....
@tooosweeet They fail to send docs often. Forget about "every douche", what about a regular guy who got their fine doubled and had to spend 2-hours on the phone to get nowhere?
@tooosweeet how is the logic terrible? He clearly had everything lined up. Her lack of responce was to save herself from getting fired... she knew he had her beat. The undetected mistake argument is valid (especially followed up with the NASA link) to show that the policy of "zero lenience" is unacceptable. If she can't claim the system is infalable, then leniency (and common sense) should prevail.
@fimeilleur no, following the traffic laws and not being put into the position of getting a ticket( in the first place) should prevail lol. his ranting (over and over), on a point which the operator is not legally required or most likely not even qualified to respond to officially, is just not going to garner any sympathy(check between shit and syphilis in dictionary) or leniency. NASA lol, i hardly believe anyone is gonna die if the PVD makes a mistake (if one was even made lol) .
@regtracker Do you argue "abstinence only sex ed" too? The point of the video wasn't that he was trying to get out of paying the fine, the point is that he was not being allowed to extend the period of time to enter his plea of guilt or innocence due to an "unknown" error that was out of his control. The point made is that "zero tolerance" is bull shit. BOUNDS OF REASON... Discretion... think about those two words.
@truthugdesire True.... What's funny is that you can never get to anyone in-charge. That shouldn't stop people from being compassionate, reasonable and objective. Apparently she was not "at liberty" to be any of those things. Look, I have have spent more money in time dealing with them then I would have by simply paying the fine, but I juslt cant get myself to bend over and let someone lie to me like that. It would be better if they would just admit that it's bull shit but thats the way it is
That sucks... i hope you get 100 dollars worth of customer service out of them. At about 8 bucks an hour, you're looking at another 12 hours and 10 minutes of customer service.
Gaaaaah. They drive me nuts. They claim to have given me a ticket, that I didn't receive, but had to pay for in order to ask for a hearing. Then because the PO got it to them 4 days too late (I mailed it with 6 days to spare) they say I forfeited my right to a hearing. I'm not giving up though... I'm putting up a fight.... :-/
Nice lol
