Okay, what is that continuous droning instrument in the background? I hear it in a lot of tunes but can't find out what it's called. Only the bansuri and tabla are listed. Thanks. Beautiful music!
This reminds me of my time in Nepal.I bought a tape from a music shop in Kathmandu and the music was just like this but i lost the tape.I love this music
@TheOverfiendDj, tabla is indian musical instrument but the basuri(bamboo flute) belongs to the Himalayas region. nepalese need to promote our own Himalayas music and instrument. i am sick of seeing young nepalese only taking up indian and western musical instrument. the fault lies in nepali media which only promote of course indian and western music. watch this videos,
This gives me a harmonic ease. Remindes me of my birthplace and the sweet memories from there. I love all indian music, especially from Mohammad Rafi Sahab
james, these flutes are not factory made as far as I know...If they are made by machines you would certainly dislike it..so you have to contact a ustad..Ustads usually make flute..they buy bamboo and make holes themselves
beautiful wonderful tune, playing and video. would like it if the video had not cut off the final note so soon, but rather allowed it to sound for at least another second.
Hey, I'm not sure this will answer your question, but here goes.
The longer the flute is, the lower the pitch is and the deeper the sound is. So if you want a bass flute, go for a bigger one.
Secondly, it's widely accepted that Bansuris with a slightly wider than average bore favours the lowest notes (as in Pandit Chaurasias flutes for example).
Lastly, I think thats either a Concert E or a Concert D# he's playing.
love india musick Especially this song,*****

@BaronRogoff1 The droning instrument is calle Thambur. It keeps the scale in which the piece is being rendered.

Dhuns have always appealed to me
Excellent rendering
Would you listen to some of the dhuns by Nikhil Banerjee and post them please?
How about a USA tour?
Dhun melodies have the greatest connection with our roots.
