TO YOU !WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACCOUNT BEING PULLED. HOPE YOU`RE HAPPY WITH YOURSLF! WE NOW DON`T GET THE OPPERTUNITY TO ENJOY HIS GREAT POSTINGS! I CAN`T PUT INTO WORDS OF HOW CRAPPY THIS IS!!!!!!!!

  • Well, I just found out that victrolamans account has been suspended, and that the Blue Steele song 'Betty Jeane" (where Betty Jean is my mother and Blue my Grandfather) was pulled due to terms violation.

for 1, all of Blues music is PUBLIC DOMAIN, I Know this for a fact! I would like to know who claimed rights!

  • I don't understand. Why was victrolaman suspended? I have some Blue Steele discs I'd like to post, will that get me suspended?

  • what a delight wonderful.

  • She was her best in Sunset Blvd with Bill Holden. I think she plaved herself in that movie.

  • exelent actrees autentic glamour de diva mi not understand jennifer lopez in hollywood crazy new time is crazy

  • G.S.even looks good at 2:15 with little or no make-up on.

    Mary-

  • I Love all of Steele's Fox-Trots. All are great! To my knowledge, he was based out of Mobile Alabama, but he recorded in a ball-room in a hotel in Memphis Tenn."And That's Hollywood" was spoken at the end of the record by Blue Steele.

  • Great Music - surprised to see Gloria smoking tho. she was a health food addic......

  • Everybody smoked back then. But I also saw her smoking in a pic from the '60s.

  • nice record. Thank you. By the way the record has been issued on Victor 22436 and had been recorded in Memphis during May 1930

  • I tend to suppose: "because"...

  • Beautiful montage, though sometimes her voice sounds like sour apples: it all adds to the atmosphere.

  • To me the vocal is far from weird, she does an excellent job - taking into account she actually is not even a singer (which explains the imperfections) who only recorded a couple of sides.

  • The vocalist is Mabel Batson. The lady who sings this in the film is Blanche Sweet, the actual clip from the film can be found elsewhere on youtube (check my favorites). This film has no connection to Gloria Swanson whatsoever, however this song surely applies to her career.

I have also uploaded some fine Gloria Swanson clips to my account.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Is the Blue Steele Orch. on that film clip? His wife is still around and I just heard from a Grandson.

  • No, the band is not. Fascinating about hearing from his wife!

  • Wow! Thanks Lou! I met her when I was REAL young. My grandmother, Helen Steele (Broadhurst) Blues first wife, introduced my mother to her when I was around 7 or 8. Man, having flashbacks!

  • Fantastic record! Swanson - although not a really professional singer - made some astonishingly fine recordings.
