'is there a chance for my child to learn to speak and socialize" this is just one of the many questions in a parents mind... these videos answers that question... and gives new hope... suddenly i feel God's power after watching the video... God has His own ways of answering our questions ^ ^ God bless
love this..i was about to ask if there is a posibility for my son to speak, he's 5 and have autism too.. love this...really love this...heaven sent video ^ ^
You shouldn't be too worried, because he could be really smart. It turns out that really smart kids talk later than other kids, because there's so much going on in their heads or because they're ashamed they say something wrong, or his abilities lie somewhere else, like in maths or something. The smartest people in the world where late talkers, did you know that?
@Mirjam091 This video was taken nearly a year ago but Wyatt is no longer considered nonverbal! Yay! He talks so much now just not conversationally yet. You can check out my other videos to see how far he has come this past short year. :)
I respectfully suggest that all here should read the books "Late Talking Children" and "Einstein Syndrome", both Thomas Sowell. These might be very helpful
my daughter was like this. She memorized and repeated entire episodes of cartoons and programs she liked. She did this starting at age 4. So, although she was "talking" she was not communicating. But, good news! At least in my daughter's case this was here way of learning how to talk. She is 10 now and can carry on a complete two way conversation with others.
I would like to ask you which therapy method you pursued for your daughter? Our 5 year old daughter repeats cartoon episodes too but we are very anxious to know whether she will one day be able to carry out a normal conversation.
@andremag74 well she had occupational therapy, prompts in school and she still has speech. "Normal" conversation came very slowly. First she stopped repeating which scared us. Then there were two word sentences, then she could speak in sentences but didn't know how to make the "exchange" with another person in conversation. Gradually then she learned that. Honestly, I believe it was her motivation to interact that brought her along but she did have to learn at her own speed. Don't dispair :)))
@andremag74 I would like to say also that it took my daughter until about age 9 to get where she is now, so if your daughter doesn't do it immediately don't give up and think she never will. They have to "learn" much of what we just automatically do when we speak. But they can and do learn. :)))). I like to think of it this way.....I do not have any talent for painting but I could, if I WANTED to, teach myself mechanical techniques and create a piece. I think its similar for them.
Thank you so much, your comments have given us lots of hope. Our daughter has regular occupational therapy and speech (as well as lots of home sessions) but as you said it is a very slow process. At times we question whether there is some kind of therapy in other countries that we do not know about. It was me reading about MB12 that brought me to look on youtube for info but I'm not sure about anything anymore :) I suppose we should continue doing what we do and be positive :)
