Everybody seems to think the voices in this song are from different sermons by different speakers. I've always been under the impression that they were from the same person, simply phase shifted a-la Steve Reich and altered to sound at higher and lower pitches.
This song needs to be listened to on the album. This song without following immediately into Sit in the Middle of Three Galloping Dogs makes it feel... empty in comparison.
Those speeches, I believe, were sermons and it's kind of hard to hear them all clearly since they're all played simultaneously, but from what I've picked out it's about "The Messiah's second coming", and if you're religious you know what they're talking about.
Im not sure exactly what sermon it is, but im pretty sure that at least one of the speakers is Harold Camping...He is known for date setting of when God comes back n stuff. Don't quote me though haha
I was listening to this song for the first time while doing my homework, I didn't know what the title was nor did I read any of your guys comments(I had Youtube's Autoplay on). Halfway through the song I started crying... Funny thing Is I have know idea what they're saying, The only words I could understand where "peace, World, God,him" Can anyone tell me what this Song is about?
At first I was fine, but then as I heard just what they were saying, I actually felt my stomach turn. How could anyone think like that? Is that even possibly sane?
At 5:30 I got massive chills. This song makes me feel so alone. So desperate. Like all life is stopped and it is only me fighting through an apocalyptic end. So intense

This song does not make me feel safe. This is one of the few GYBE & A Silver Mt. Zion songs that scares me. The voice over is from a religious radio station. He's talking about a nuclear war that would bring about the second coming of Christ. The end of the world. This is scary shit people!
This song scared the crap out of me. It was the first time I had listened to them...I was sleeping over my friends house, there wasn't a single light anywhere except out the window looking towards the street. I was completely alone. I thought a demon was about to posess me..
Note: For all people who like this track, check out "Thirteen angels standing guard around my bead" (correct?) from the same album. It's heart grippingly beautiful.
Not really solo at all. There are 7 of them. And you can't really call it Efrim's project. The fact that he sings is irrelevant. He doesn't want to be seen as the forefront of the live band and the voice is meant to be used as just another instrument. And it's not just Efrim. Sophie and Thierry also from GY!BE are in ASMZ as well.
Yes, you're right tombland, on all points. I also really like this about GY!BE, ASMZ etc. That they are totally against popstar worship. It's all about the music. I can really identify with that concept. However, ASMZ:s first album (from which this track is taken) is very much Efrims own i'd imagine. It's the song about his dog Wanda for example... and also the tracks seem to be more constructed out of one person experimenting than a band collaborating. But that's irrelevant of course.
Wrong, actually. I am completely aware of my age, though I don't see how it applies to this. I'm just a grammar nazi. You seemed like you were trying pretty hard to sound intelligent, but there were numerous grammar mistakes I decided to make you aware of them. I can point them out individually, if you'd like.
Ich kann in Deutsch schreiben, aber nicht so gut. Ob du hast sagt mir das du bist Swedish, ich würde nicht du behobt haben. Good enough? Also, I have no idea how to say "Swedish" in German.
You couldn't have picked a more unfitting picture for the song.

Very creepy piece. It reminds me greatly of those silent-ish atomic bomb shock films of latter days. They scared the crap out of me as a kid.

I've been looking a long time for the source of the speech, but haven't found it yet - though I've found two of the bible verses it quotes:
Daniel 8 25 (mentioned by name in song)
Thessalonians 5 1-9 (at the end of the song, beginning of the next)
