  • i know him.. no joke

  • 3:40 gets me so pumped up, i've gotta keep myself from kicking my monitor in. that's some fuckin emotional energy right there.

  • damn that awesome china anti break shit ! it's great :D

  • really great to meet you Billy. have a great time on the road!!....KILLER SKILLS!! (shawn-you jammed on my kit in new hampshire)

  • sunshine the werewolf! billy rocks

  • Of course everything's in French! It's Quebec!

    Sick drumming.

  • billy, you're a drum DE---------------------STROYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • sick

  • He's not as precise or subtle as Chris Pennie. But there's such a tension in his drumming, that anger that can't be extinguished. It's perfect for Dillinger.

  • If my dad digged dillinger escape I would start going to the church. lol

  • @louiejack6 That's insane. I'm curious, do you know which four songs? Also, where did you get this information?

  • DestroyyyyY!!!!!!!!

  • I still think pennie fit the best just because of how versatile he is...but gil sharone and billy are no bad replacements by any means.

  • I asked him how long it took to learn all the songs, and he said 2 months. He also said that about 4 of the songs took him 5 weeks to learn.

  • Seriously, Billy Rymer is such a bad ass...I'm psyched on him...for true

  • After they picked Gil, I was fairly confident Ben and co. have good taste in drummers. I doubt they ever let a shit drummer in the band that just wouldnt make sense. Kudo's Dillinger. Good job to my n***a Billy.

  • KP REPRESENT

  • must admit, was expecting to be a bit let down by the drums on OP but i have been quite surprised, really strong. a lot of growing room too.

  • He is amazing! I think my favourite of all three!

  • I like rhymer better then gil. but pennie still trumps them all

  • agreed

  • He's great, he just need to put his own thing in there, and not play 100% whats on the records. I think the biggest difference between him and Chris and Gil is that they were heavily jazz influenced, and Billy is straight rock.

  • @lawbr00ks1118 This guy is jazzy as fuck, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Gil Sharone was actually really heavily influenced by reggae, watch any video of him playing and he'll incorportate tons of reggae.

  • I get at a laugh at people comparing DEP's drummers. They're all so high up it's pointless.

I'd love to hear more about the technology on the China's stand, if someone could help me out on that.

  • He put a spring on it, between two washers

  • Billy, you deliver over and beyond

    \m/ \m/

  • i love all of the accents and ghost notes on the snare, thats what separates dillinger from other most other metal bands. they have dynamics and groove

  • @underscoreisnotvalid

what are these ghost notes you speak of?

  • @cacaface123

At the end of the video where he plays the beginning of the ending in Sunshine the Werewolf. Those are probably the easiest ghost notes to hear. There are some in the beginning, but not as noticeable.

Ghost notes are musical notes occurring in a rhythmic figure which are purposely deemphasized, often to the point of near silence. In popular music drumming these notes are played, "very softly between the 'main' notes," most often on the snare drum in a drum kit. -wikipedia.

  • @underscoreisnotvalid listen to periphery

  • @Gorbs413... I have, and they are god awful. But I do like some of their older stuff with the old vocalists.

  • @underscoreisnotvalid ok well i'm assuming that you think they are awful because of their new singer. Have you listened to the instrumental version of the cd?

  • @Gorbs413 no i havent listened to it. I'll have to check it out though :). I don't mind the band - i bought the album off itunes the day it came out, i was really looking forward to the self titled, but i was just really disappointed. i find the album drags on too much, as well as the mastering being too clean and overproduced for my liking. and yeah you're right i can't stand the vocals. The cleans are cringe worthy at times, but still interesting, but the growls really are not my cup of tea.

  • Got that crucial pennie face at the end.

  • That's such a good sounding snare.

  • I agree. His snare sounds amazing!

But his hi hat sounds too dark... Chris and Gil had real bright sounding hi hats.

  • Why don't you bright sound these balls, fag.

  • if you watch him closely he tunes it between almost every song

  • Ahh my man Billy at the foufounes Electriques which roughly translates to Electric Pussy by the way lol ah an Billy is IN THE POCKET i dont care what anybody says Billy rules i love him brilliant drummer( Dont tell him that he would just rubbed it off anyway) and a kind gent

  • awesome, tight, can't wait for new album...

  • SY5TEMxOfxAxD0WN this kid is so fucking awesome for sure..but have you heard their previous drummers?

  • This kid has way more pocket and groove than Pennie. Every drummer they've recruited after has been exponentially better and a better fit to the band. I'm not sure how anyone can't see this.

  • more pocket and groove than pennie, but not as much as gil. but i like the balance billy's found.

  • whats the song called at 3:05?

  • Sunshine the Werewolf.

  • Gnarly.

  • He's good and I have no doubt he will sound awesome with the new songs. He is no Pennie though and like someone said before, he is kinda sloppy at least playing this particular song. Having said that, can't wait for the new album and go get them Mr. Rhymer!

  • its about time this band got a real drummer!!!

  • YESSS

  • probably the most ridiculous thing said over youtube ever.

  • @guttaraltastic moi?

  • yeah, but no one can replace pennie

  • gil did, and now billy is, deal with it.

  • im dealing with it fine. I just regarded pennie as a better drummer than gil. dont get me wrong, sharone could hit skins better than most other, just thought that chris pennie brought a lot more to the writing table. this guy is on form though man, dont get me wrong. gil fucked up quite a bit when i saw them.....

  • haha fair enough man. i guess im just getting tired of seeing chris pennies name in comments on videos hes no longer in.

  • yeah true that, he's old hat. got to look ahead to the new dillinger and the new awesomeness!

  • Foufs

  • brutality

  • I'm not saying he isn't good, and I don't want to jump to any conclusions as I have 100% faith in DEP, but stylistically, I don't really like the way he plays. Please prove me wrong dillinger!

  • sloppy? are you kidding me? you must be deaf and blind.

  • yeah, bad call.

  • I like the way he plays but have no clue about DEP. I just predicted a few of his fills so it's something like what I'd play. Which I don't think is a bad style...

  • @Saighton

there not really his fills, hes a new drummer and there in the middle of writing at the moment.

  • The Twitter url is wrong by the way. Their real account is 'dillingerescpln'.

  • Sick drummer indeed.

  • It works :3

  • thanks for the vid series so far...DEP is a pretty unique band with a good drummer.

  • wont load....

  • Loading fine for me... Probably YouTube, they were down all together yesterday for a while. Give it time, it'll play for ya.

  • Doesnt load.

  • c'mon, get this video uploaded properly, please!
