Some of the clips that were put together for this came from video games or other 3D renders... I'm thinking someone made EVA-01 3D model and animated to specifically for this purpose. Either way, pwnsaurus is correct: Most of these clips are derived from a rather wide range of movies. A fake, certainly, but pro quality editing work. Bravo!

They did begin some work on a live action film, check out some of the artwork sketches. It'll probably never come to fruition though, too much budget needed
