  • Don´t read this !!!

  • It would help to make the car longer and use a longer lever arm to pull more string through. There are 3 videos on my channel about mousetrap cars that might help.

Good job in coming up with this in a week!

  • @ScienceguyOrg Yup those are good tips, but our project had maximum dimensions. I made it as large as possible.

    and thanks!

  • can you send me the instructions please urgent!

  • @shij12 Any details on the mousetrap car design are in the link, found in the description. I hope that helps!

  • @soccerjudo10 I need to make one for phsyics and it must go 30ft for 60% of grade, any suggestions?

  • @Flingi2 Physics*

  • @Flingi2 yup, just a few. Use the lightest materials and the least amount of materials as possible (ie. use a frame, not a solid body). make the axles out of a light wood, instead of the metal i used (much to heavy). CDs work great, and just use trial and error when designing it! don't be afraid to go back and change stuff. I don't know what limitations there are for your project, but try out different ideas in order to see what works best. 30 ft shouldn't be too hard to do!

    Good Luck :)

  • I need instructions also

  • @santanerina

i offer research into why i built it how i did on the link in the description, but i don`t have step by step instructions to help you. look at some of the other comments to find answers for any questions you might have.

  • can u send me instructions for it i need seriouse help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just made the same model for my intro to engineering class, i used light craft wood and plastic wheels, along with a shorter rod, and i got a cunt hair shy of 8 meters. the lighter the better. and i used the little yellow "cheese" piece on the mouse trap to set it and trip it at will (we had to have 5 mechanisms minimum) rather than blocking it with your foot or holding the axle. great vid!!!

  • @caddyrolla123 Thanks! glad you like it :)

and you're right! the lighter the better! looking back, i'd say i could have made quite a few changes around that idea :P

  • um i have to do this experiment as well but the link n yur description isnt show so can yu plz give meh that website thanks

  • @kasieeasley i cant post links in the comments so ill try to send you a message.

By the way, did you click "show more" to expand the details section?

  • how do u make it go without touching it

  • @missymetz

The mousetrap isn't actually set, it's just held back by the string which is wound around the axle. the only thing preventing it from unwinding the axle and moving the wheel is my shoe

  • hey there, is there any way you can write out a step by step directions on how you made your car? it would be greatly appreciated (:

  • @timeouttime22

I can give you an outline of what i did:

    1. Build the frame, by gluing (hot glue gun) the pieces of wood together

    2. Attach wheels to the axles, and then the axles to the frame of the car (how you attach it depends on your design)

    3. Construct the mousetrap, attach a long metal pole (light weight but sturdy) to the metal frame of the mousetrap

    4. Place the trap on the device

I did the project a while ago, and i did it all "on the fly". Be prepared for lots of experimentation :)

  • @soccerjudo10 thank you so much it will be very helpful!

  • you dawg

  • how did you build it?

  • @kendra328 have you checked out the link in the description? it has a detailed diagram and some research.

As for the materials, i'd recommend making it as light as possible; i'd use light wood for the frame and a hot glue gun works great. For the axle, use a wooden dowel, and CD's work for the wheels.
