As a follow up: Anyone watching this video and contemplating making a canoe trip should first learn how to paddle properly. I recommend getting the classic Bill Mason videos that show clearly how it's done. When you switch sides, you zig-zag which is very inefficient. When done properly, you may switch sides only ever half hour or so, paddle much more efficiently, and no water gets in your canoe. It's also infinitely more enjoyable and easy. No wasted movements or energy.

Excellent video but you reallyi should learn how to paddle. I'm always amazed to see how many people don't know how to paddle - even people with years of experience. You can always tell when someone doesn't know how to paddle properly by the water in the bottom of their canoe. You SHOULD NOT switch sides when paddling except as a change of pace or in certain maneuvers. Also, get rid of the bent paddles for this type of trip.

God these videos are great but man this one was so annoying to watch every few minutes just when I would be getting back into it would freeze and that damn circle made of dots appears and even when it had loaded it would stay there until I manually went back like 10 seconds happened like 10 times so far and I'm still not finished. For me this was just way to well prepared, organized and perfectly mapped out with a good budget, it almost feels like there is no chance of anything going wrong, the previous series were so off the wall and completely random they were fantastic to watch, one of the first things you did was lose your wallet, now thats an interesting trip! Don't get me wrong you are incredibly watch-able just naturally as a person, but the lack of general adventure in this series is a bit gutting.

@morfuk hey! I completely understand where you're coming from. However, this trip was only planned in terms of what kind of equipment to bring. Other than that, we had no idea what to expect or where to stay. The budget was just the same if not less than the Mexico trip. I hope you continue to watch. It's just a matter of adventure and when the curve balls appear..whether it's day 3 or day 37, it's guaranteed to be unpredictable.

you don't have to change the side you're paddling on to steer (use a J stroke), only when you're tired of paddling on that side
