  • Its Australia, so the rotation is in the other direction

  • Is this played backwards? It looks like the rain in the background is falling upwards and if it's in the U.S., that's rare that its rotating anti-cyclonically

  • this is amazing!

  • Very eerie to see it spinning around with the time lapse.

  • WHat is all that noise that I hear??

  • nice low precipitation supercell

  • @rdtony Holy shit you go that close to a super cell did you check for forecasts if it would join with another one and make a mega tornado?!

  • I think chipmunks were eating the microphone Lolol

  • Reported on NWS

  • reported on NWS

  • incredible rotation with that storm - great footage. you say it produced a tornado? was this visible to yourself or was it reported later?

  • Sounds like you've got a rat problem with all that squeaking...

  • too much camera shaking!

  • i be runnig backwards with a camera in my hand yelling " HELL YEAH"

  • @zelda11fan you're cool.

  • @MrJDMz32 thanx =]

  • great job!

  • Why do the big scary clouds always have to come toward us?

  • WWOOWW INCREIBLE

  • Such a rare treat to see an anti-cyclonic rotation.

  • if you see a hole on the supercell, it's the mesocyclone!!!!!

  • Good shots !!

  • Was this video shown backwards? Or is that really a clockwise rotating supercell (an exceptionally rare occurance)?

  • And what happened next? I saw nothing, no rainfall, no lightning...please post the aftermath as well :)

  • no tornado??? :((((

  • run u were just to get hit by a tornado

  • the sun raise from the background was pretty cool

  • why was it stationary?

  • thats a mesocyclone lol

  • imagine how scary it would be if it were really moving that fast.

  • DUDE! FREAKIN RUN!

  • that sun raise behind it was awesome. But this storm was rotating very fast.

  • Actually there is alot of rotation in the clouds did it produce a tornado.

  • Hmm, doesn't look like much of a supercell. No real striations, no strong updraft, just some rotation which many storms inherantly have.

  • low topped supercell

  • omg

  • WOW THIS IS COOOOOOL I LOVE THIS :D

  • wow, that's incredible.i would have passed out or i would've been saying all bad words pooping on myself

  • there was probably supercell in my town 2 days ago

  • where was this video taken? If this was in the United States then that thing is rotating anti-cyclonically!

  • @umleroi Australia. We're... Kinda backward in comparison to you...

  • Thats guna drop a big one

  • is it me or did that thing look like a big grey sphixter.....

  • OK great job, subscribed!

  • Great footage.

  • per me lo spettacolo più bello della mia vita è la (|)

  • SWEET

  • amazing...great job catching this

    -ryan

  • That's nasty

  • still cool though :)

  • that isnt tornadic, there is no tornado

  • it could possibly produce one later on.

    that is a tornadic.

  • true :)

  • Interesting and somewhat rare clockwise rotation. Where was the location?

  • Wow, you are right, clockwise rotation are very rare.. I think there is only one tornado that have recorded rotating clockwise

  • wonderful! how much time did you record?

  • omg, rotation is intense!

  • that looks awesome

  • thats a big scary mother fucker right there

  • dude tht wasnt a torando i saw u video taping it its just cloud

  • no, not a tornado, a tornadic supercell. Usually where tornadoes for though.

  • I love weather and that was awsome. Holy shit run....

  • omg!!! did it ever touch? id be pissin my pants lol

  • are rewinding it?

  • wow beutiful

  • asome but where is this? because it's turning clockwise

  • Australia!

  • Welcome to the Coriolis effect.

One hemisphere (southern) has clockwise storms/cyclones/drains, the other anticlockwise storms/hurricanes/drains.

  • The coriolis effect only impacts weather over longer size and time scales. Thunderstorms can rotate clockwise in the northern hemisphere, although most do not.

  • I think the rotation in tornadoes is due to vorticity, not coriolis

  • Probably a bit of both - don't they usually spin the other way below the equator? I am totally guessing here but it's interesting to think about.

  • My bad, coriolis affects vorticity, so tornadoes will would spin clockwise in Southern Hemisphere. However, tornadoes are very rare in SH. So the guy that gave me a -1 below makes me lmao.

  • you're right about the storms/cyclones, but i found out the clockwise drains/anticlockwise drains thing is a myth. not trying to make you look dumb or anything though :D

  • Uh, do you mean the different direction the water swirls between the two hemispheres? If you do, it is true.

  • really? i'm confused =_='

  • Cyclones in the southern hemisphere rotate counter-clockwise (iirc). It's the opposite in the northern.

  • no... its the other way round...

  • you're right.

  • SWEET!

  • This seems another LP supercell. Cascade precipitation and rain free base are clearly separated. Gorgeous rotating base!!!

  • Wow...very nice ! Nearly stationary...check out my timelapse videos on my page...timelapsing is so cool !! Thanks for posting your videos

    Beamship

  • You'e quite welcome!

  • awsome, one time when i was in Texus i saw one just as big, and just about a minute after it made a tornado that touched the ground :o

  • Are you in the Southern Hemisphere? That's the first anticyclonic (If you are in the North Hemisphere) supercell I have ever seen. WOW!

  • They are majestic and amazing: something the size of Mount Everest floating in the air!

  • nice

  • yea... i love scary feelings when i'm close to nature...

  • man it's fuckin beautifull...

in my country strongest wind is 40 m/s :D

i wish i will see tornados in my life.

  • if you see one, it's NICE!!!! just being in one...um, no. that's scary
