set your camera on a long exposure setting, the shutter stays open and records everything that happens during that time, so when you twirl your flashlight every movement will be recorded in one consolidated image. usually need a higher end camera because most normal ones you get at a retailer usually limit you to like 8 seconds. (you can do small jobs using night mode in most digitals)

you're over exposuring the picture. just get a slr camera. go out at night, take a picture...keep the shutter held open..draw something... close the shutter. badda bing badda boom.

you use a long shutterspeed in a dark space, and you "paint" with light ( like a torch) and you'll get such sort effect

like kasperzwemmen said, you use a long a shutter speed,. it works by the camera shutter staying open for a certain amount of time, and then whatever light exposed to the front of the camera is captured on the photo. its pretty simple, and quite fun to do :)

can also try looking on the internet for long shutter speed cameras if they're not what your looking for.

oh and id suggest looking at a camera with a shutter speed of over 10/15 seconds if you want enough time to do anything really good :D

I take a picture during 1min or 2min with my D200 on a tripod and graphers take Neon and Led to draw.

you have to slow the shutter speed on one of those high end camaras and it captures all the light and it shows up on the picture. if youv ever seen a time exposure of a night sky or a highway or city its pretty much the same deal. its kind of like when your developing film and it gets in the light but it only over does the spot where the light was not ruin your photo
