Elvis actually made a handful of genuinely good films. This is probably one of them. Follow that Dream, not as well know, is another -- I actually like it better than "Vegas"; "Follow That Dream" stands on its own as, simply, a pretty well done, funny, entertaining flick. Theme song to that movie is great too. His earliest films, (Jailhouse Rock, etc.) are generally considered superior to the later, assembly-line schlock he produced.

They actually had a thing going during the filming of this movie, and it got pretty serious. He wasn't married to Priscilla at the time, but he had been grooming her since 1958. Elvis was very close to leaving Priscilla for Ann, but the Colonel talked him out of it. And that is a real shame, for from what I've read, Ann-Margaret was the only woman who ever really made Elvis happy. If he'd followed his heart, who knows how his future may have turned out.
