  • It's so interesting to hear the influences of german in this...like I="eech"

  • when is the 'c' pronounced as a 'ch'?

  • My favorite part is around 0:28 seconds the part that i can actually understand without translation. However I will try to learn Anglo saxon

  • Same as modern german "ich"?

  • "Ic" reads like "each"?

  • beautiful poem

  • Marvellous reading. Im a bit unsure of accuracy of the translation though. Not only was it written in Old English (Anglo Saxon) language but it was also written in obscure words for the time it was written.

  • @TaTaAlwulf

The translation of this poem is one of the most difficult of the old English poetry because nobody knows who wrote it, who´s the speaker and what´s the story behind it. This is 1 of the most favoured translations though.

What I am unsure of is his pronunciation. For example, letter "f" in old En. was pronounced "v" between 2 vowels or voiced conson. Hence "gife" should be pronounced "give". That´s only a really basic 1, I´m surprised that someone who likes old En. doesn´t know it.

  • Wonderful. Beautiful too.

  • I'm Confused , com haha

  • @Wollinder92 Try ucalgary.ca, and type old English at the search engine, there are some good lessons there.

  • It sounded barbaric at first, but then it grew on me. It sounds probably better than Neo english does.
