Got this phone to be able to download BBC iplayer programmes which it does well, but unfortunately the rest of the phone isn't very good. Now got a HTC desire Hd which is a lot better but you lose the ability to download iplayer programmes.

Sick of people saying that It's crap, or rubbish, or making direct hardware comparisons.

It's an excellent phone with un paralleled features. And as far as hardware goes, one phone isn't better that another just because of It's hardware specs. It's all about how the OS uses that hardware. These aren't computers. You can't just swap OS for a speedier experience.

Actually you're wrong, you CAN upload the photo in about 2 seconds after you've taken it, by pressing a logo on the side or bottom of the screen (depends if it's in Portrait or Landscape mode)

@buymac Keep In Mind That This Review Is 8 Months Old...The N8 Has Undergown Many Of Software Updates Since This Review. (So As A N8 User) The N8 Is Pretty Awesome Now.....The Software Is Much Better Optimized For The CPU Speed So It Very Smooth And Snappy.

The Screen Technology Being AMOLED Makes The nHD Resolution Not A Problem, If It Were A TFT Screen Like The iPhone It Would Be A Problem Because The Colors Aren't As Vibrant And The Texts Aren't As Sharp As Amoled Screens.

And yes i know because i hold a symbian os nokia in my hand atm. Its exactly for that reason i am considering buying a HTC next time and same reason why Nokia has made a deal with Microsoft on their new OS. I dont dislike Nokia, but i dislike Symbian.

@07liberian Okay ill admit it, i hadnt read the latest news on the topic yet (which were released 3 days ago) but still N8 is inferior to most android phones on the market as i have tested all kinds of phones at mobile phone stores. The camera is nice, probably the best camera Mobile phones have to offer, but all other stats are average. Symbian still being one of the most inferior OS smartphones have to offer. Android, Apple OS and WindowsM7 being rated higher by numerous sources.

@07liberian Desire and N8 cost around the same here in finland. Actually Desire 20€ costs less, while HD and Z models cost just a bit over N8. Now for the things that are better in Android compared to Symbian: Speed, connectivity with all Google services(youtube,gmail,maps..e­tc), Android market(Lets face it, Ovi stores is crappy), Prettier graphics and smoother animations. Plus it has been developing at an alarming rate compared to other OS...

@07liberian Okay, maybe i ought to teach you something you dont seem to know... Generally Computers and Mobile phones are formed out of two elements: Software and Hardware. Hardware being CPU, GPU, Screen..etc everything physical. Software on the other hands means OS, drivers, programs...etc.

While hardware may have a bigger impact on the speed of the system, OS still plays a role. Example on computer: Windows Vista requires higher specs from your computer than XP... continues on another post...

@07liberian ...Thus if you look at the back covers of some games, you might notice the game needing higher specs to play if youre running Vista, because vista consumes more system resources to do some tasks than Windows 7 for example. Same thing with Symbian being slower than equal Android phone. Thus making YOU the Noob.

And next, apply the same analogy i used with Google connectivity to Ovi stores and Android market. You might find the apps you need from either, but better chance with Android.

Nokia N8. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!! LESS THAN ONE MONTH & I HAVE TO CHARGE THE UNIT EVERY DAY. SOMETIMES TWICE. You must send the phone to Nokia when you need to change battery. If they send you the battery to change it yourself the warranty in voided. If I had known this I would not have bought this phone. This phone also freezes at times! Nokia messed up on this one. Do not buy this phone until Nokia fixes the problem with replacing the battery!
