I think that China has progressed enormously, and will continue to do so. I don't think that there is any possibility for a free Tibet, just look at the distribution of the population in the area. I think that China has progressed enormously, and will continue to do so. I don't think that there is any possibility for a free Tibet, just look at the distribution of the population in the area. Not an easy issue, but I think that there are lots of people who critize China, and don't have the same standards for the actions of the US, EU...

@JWPemperor Hmmm yes the Chinese are a new world power, and will act accordingly without morals if necessary. However it has come far from the 60s. The biggest challenges that China will face you did not even mention... the ageing population, and water scarcities.
As for Tibet I do agree that the Chinese did a horrible thing, but changing it now is just not going to happen. Tibetans are already the minority in the area,

@JWPemperor The African issue btw is very complex, and all not all Chinese actions have been bad e.g. DRC where as some have oil from Sudan, and no regard for environmental factors. European and American legacy from slavery, proxy wars, neo-colonialism is not any better. Also the EU and US subsidies are harming the farmers... not to mention oil exploitation. Doha negotiations have also been quite harmful for many but good for others.

Not all Chinese investment in Africa have been bad; for example the $9b technology transfer to DRC. They just don't follow regulations, and deal with monstrous governments (Sudan). The US, and EU have been exploiting Africa for hundreds of years now...

plus, talking about history, I really don't feel like educating ignorant assholes like you. why don't you just check the old maps of China made by yourself(I mean not your my friend i still doubt if you can successfully point out Tibet on a printed map. I mean the official bureaus of UK, Portugal or the US, etc) in 1900s,1800s or even 1700s, to see if Tibet was of the same color with China.

well you are free to ask anyone you want but we all know you also have the right to decide what to hear and what to ignore.you can always find unsatisfied people and they became your super evidence of "ALL Tibetan hate Chinese". I have traveled from Xining all the way to Lhasa by cycling. I saw happy people, with unlimited beliefs and increasing life quality. no ever mentioned about independence
