i tried to do a sampled beat but the tempo was always wrong

it always takes a lot of time measuring it up and it takes practice, but otherwise you can just click on the sample when it's in the step sequencer, and a box will pop up where you can pitch the sound and so on, around the middle there's a TIME STRETCHING box, and there's a button you can turn labelled 'Time', if you right click on this you can make it automatically stretch the sample sound to how long you want it to, it's not perfect but it gets the job done.

It also means the EQ's, Compressors and what not are of professional grade instead of this "WAVES" plugins crap.
