@InsideScoop You mean liberal, not progressive. People on the right think Maddow, Olbermann, and Moore aren't "progressive," but "regressive." Don't mix and match terms and use them as consanguine. The Rachael Maddow show started in 2005, Countdown with Olbermann started in 2003, and Michael Moore had his documentaries since 2001. How can you say the left had no critical mass in the media in 2007?
@derivativesarecool The Rachel Maddow TV show began in 2008. When Countdown with Olbermann began, he was hired as a "sports guy," not the liberal/progressive commentator he evolved into. Moore has to finance his own documentaries
@derivativesarecool If you're nominated for an Oscar, you're probably going to get financing. He had a $250m grossing documentary. The notion that Michael Moore still completely finances his own films is ludicrous.
Moore's Fahrenheit 911 was financed by Miramax in 2003-2004.
As a black woman I view AA as offensive and racist.
And if I recall many black students who got into a University through AA dropped out. Mainly because a lot of them were not prepared or qualified to be in the school in the first place. And people wonder: why the achievement gap?
How do you know that they got in through AA is because their black and black only. Something tells me you arent black or atleast dont know what your talking about. Most black people that attend college graduate. BTW there are students who get it because of their parents or what that guy said because their rich. BTW did you know that white wome and disable people benefit from affirmative action more than blacks or any other ethnic group? Probably not.
Man,this guy is out of touch;white males would LOVE for Legacies to end. Everybody knows the game;if Junior doesn't get into the school,.Daddy won't donate. That's the "idealism" of the pigs that run the Universities;I don't care if legacies get in.Americans want a sense of fairness,period;Luckily the Supreme Court made a good decision today for the New haven firefighters.
And alot of white people like George Bush get into schools and come into money they don't deserve. Most whites think they are entitled to whatever they want. Alot of them are ignorant and have no business running anything. But most of you whites blame minorities for getting things they don't deserve. I think you need to look in the mirror. If it went to people who deserved it most whites would not get into any college. They are lazy and don't hard because daddy will get them in.
Because alot of the kids nowadays who receive help through affirmative action don't work twice as hard. The work half as hard knowing they will be able to get into school where they work half as hard again. Finally they get out into the real world, unprepared and unequipped and they don't perform they way that the liberal's hoped they would. But boy do they feel better about sending a minority through school. Give yourselves a big pat on the back for wasting a whole lot of time and money.
The answer to your question at 1:15. His father donated $200 million to the school. It's great for the school's public finances.

0:17. They do. Rachael Maddow, Keith Olbermann, etc. How did this guy get into Yale? He seems to simple-minded.

@derivativesarecool This was recorded in 2007, before there were progressive TV hosts with shows on air.

Legacies aren't funded by the state, affirmative action is.

Did you not listen to what he said about Bush. You never answered how do you know they got in through affirmative action.

@thecaliforniaknight you're making strawman arguments.
I am against AA and you would be as well if you were for equal rights for all men.
period. nothing elsee matters.

I agree that we should get rid of both legacies and affirmative action.
