Skydex rules>> my opinion for shock mitigation! but I know who got the big contract///don't know why??? and second how does 3.5 lbs for LEVEL III sound? put entire shock mitigation of my favorite SKYDEX in that and no more fractured skulls.
Level III helmet yes one that can take an AK-47 and mitigate the shock from that round? Wish I had helmet like that...... don't you?
Thing is if youget shot in the head. Even if your helmet can stop the bullet. The force of the hit will probably break your neck anyways. Helmet is made to protect soldiers from debris and bombs... bullet to the head will almost always = death. regardless of the hardness of the helmet.
@48scorion in 1916 just before the battle of the somme a british soldier in a frontline trench was issued a new helmet to replace his cap. just then a shell burst over head and he was kocked to the floor and when he got up he took his helmet off, looked at it and it had a huge hole i but his head was unscratched
@Soldierman345 they replaced the PASGT because of the now obsolete helmet webbing it had. presonally i like the PASGT look much mroe than the new MICH or LWH helmet.
if only we found a material that can protect from 7.62's and hopefully...50cals....
they used football helmet liners in the M1 helmet back in WW2 like they said. I guess football helms set an example for how to properly protect your head!
I mean we got cameras that are the size of pennies now and video screen that are as thin as paper and that to an extent can even bend. Why not put it on the inside of a ballistics shell.
@Haven893 dept perception becomes a problem if u cant estimate range y wont hit ur target and all the protection in the world wont help u then there is no better camera than the human eye but it cant focus that close cool idea though. I see them taking a page outta the greek’s playbook covering the cheeks. Leaving room for ballistics glass goggles or optics over the eyes
Those helmets are not designed to take high velocity rifles. I'll always wear steel helmets because I'd rather die than survive with TBI.

Why not make a helmet that deflects bullets, like what is done with tanks, instead of focusing on stopping a bullet?

what r u ppl saying?
if it will help fight against blunt trauma but not a bullet, its therefore somehow a redundant goal?

A bullet will take your head off. A hit from linebacker won't.
Oxstayne 1 year ago
instead of trying to find a helmet that reduces concusions, they should find one that reduces deaths by shots to the head.
Zerosupersayan 1 year ago
@Zerosupersayan You're more likely gonna die from an explosion, than a bullet. FACT.
