If you offered me a free house in Paisley with all the upkeep paid for i would not have it on. After living overseas Paisley presents itself as a very dull place with peoples ideas very insular and not taking into account the vast world that can be savoured out there. Respect my comments please, but Paisley is dead dull.
What is this the "knock paisley society?" I live in paisley and have for 32 years! I am also raising a child here! I love my town and the people in it! People are quick too jump on the "Oh your from paisley u must be a drunk or a junkie or both bandwagon!" Paisley is trying its best too regenerate and the genuinely good people that live there are supporting there community best they can! If u have the strong urge 2 hate in ur lifego shout at urself in the mirror! CMON THE PAISLEY BUDDIES!!!
As you probably know I live down under, but the Scots from Paisley here run it down in a big way............violence, lack of scope, stabbings, sectarian stuff, how can i live there, please tell me. And there are a lot of people with no money begging on the street.
I am a Paisley buddy but have lived overseas for over 40 years. Apart from the Ice Rink and soccerf I don't see that Paisley has much to offer. I see there is no future there for many people because the people are cynical and if you try to better yourself they laugh at you. When Paisley people realise that they are quite banal then they might get somewhere. Its one of those places where the people have given up trying new things, they just live in the same old bloody place and do the same things
Paisley is the worst place I have ever lived in. What has it got to offer? Soiccer? No culture whatsoever, its a boring hole with a lot of rotten weather. I lived there as a boy and hated it, it was horrible.
@2367921 go take a flying fuck to yourself with a doughnut, who the fuck are you laughing boy to say that all of the people of paisley are badly brought up like the sun shines out of your arse and your shit don't stink, and as for culture, perhaps if you took your head out of your arse you might see more.
Hating dumps like Paisley is normal to me when you find there are much better places. Everybody who has lived there and moved on never regretted the move, and the message abroad is Paisley sucks big time.
Anything that Paisley does that is good are only acts of attrition for the rotten things people have done in the past, the thugs, the sectarian violence, the badly brought up people, the assholes of Catholic teachers beating defenceless kids with a big belt.
yass! Home!! I live here! 0:01 is the kiltmakers across from the library and museumn,0:11 is the old army building next to coats memorial church (across from the uni)0:16 is coats memorial church. 0:50 is the abbey across from the town hall.3:46 is the old mill across from my dentist nd morrisons! God,i love living in paisley! it's really gd nd got hunners of nice friendly pepo.
I wonder if anyone has heard of Alexander Mc Guinness who used to live in the Sandy Road Renfrew area. He had a brother called Bobby who was intellectually handicapped. He would be about 62 now if he was still alive.
I know every inch of Paisley literally. In the 40s the Germans dropped some incendiaries on the fields near Arkleston Road. Some marsh birds went to live thereafter as it turned the ground into a chemical bog. And people used to twll their sons to keep out of there and would not tell them why. I found out from the historic archives.

I lived in Paisley and Renfrew area 45 years ago and glad to get out of it with all the sectarian bigotry. Also the schoolteachers were a pack of useless bastards whom I found out later were quite uneducated. Also the Paisley people sound horrible when they speak, it sucks to be there listening to that voice.
i also lived there 50 yrs ago.i agree with most of your diatribe....with the exception of paisley people voices ..you must be remembering some personal bad times.
Its like a prison sentence, youre right, what a hell of a hole, from Arkleston Road to Glenburn! And as I said to my teachers in St Mirins Academy before I left, its great place to get the hell out of, if I have to look at the Gleniffer Braes and that town hall again i will scream.
i used to live in paisley in 1995 to 1997.. it's great to view those familiar places again. i'll revisit one of these days. by the way, what's the title of the song?
I have been there so many times I miss my mother Nam ...great country , great city .

now all the streets are dark and bare,
oh of you can live in the town
and stick around
you can live anywhere.
Thats the way it always starts,
sitting here, waiting for the beating if my heart.
Gerry Rafferty, from the soundtrack to local hero.
think thats exactly what paisley needs!
