  • I love the style.. spot on,mate!

  • Ha nice hair dude.

  • well then, you sir are the Jason Lee of skating! Nice trick

  • well then, you sir are the Jason Lee of skating! Nice trick

  • @MCNASTYFC3S

Isn't Jason Lee "the Jason Lee" of skateboarding?

Seeing as he was considered one of the best street skaters of his time and started (and I think still owns) stereo skateboard company.

Still, Jason Lee skateboard comparisons always welcome....

  • that blew my mind, nice trick too

  • You remind me of coach frank !

  • @matias7anriquez Any comparison to Jason Lee is always welcome.

  • "Painful trick, if it goes wrong..." LOL! GREAT TRICK BY THE WAY!!!

  • @x00czar00x Well, it's easy to stop it from going wrong though. As long as you don't try to cheat the first part by doing it flat, or cheat the second part by catching it with your foot above the trucks, all will be fine.

  • He is a true australian

  • @MrJamie576 I'm not even close to being Australian.

I'm just about as english as can be.

  • your thick tips are better than aronls

  • would this be a nutter for a shorter person if you mess up on it.. lol

  • @DUDENOHELP I'm only 5'7 and I've never come close to a "nutter".

Truth is the board is out infront of you and not completly vertical either, making it almost impossible to "credit card" yourself.

I will however warn that if it does go badly wrong you can hit the inside of your back knee.....and that'll smart for a bit.

On the whole, the only thing likely to hurt after trying this trick is your feet.....if you keep catching the edge of the board over and over it can begin to bruise up.

  • @theunknown4evr i think im like 4'9 im not sure but ok ill try it and see what happens

  • @DUDENOHELP Won't be an issue. As I say the board won't go vertical enough to do any damage of that particular region of the body.

  • I don't understand how u make them look so easy lol

  • @Vreck93 Practice certainly helps.

I've always felt the key to making tricks look good was being confident with them. So obviously, practicing them allows you to get used to doing them and takes out that "fear" element with most tricks.

(For example, when learning kickflips you learn to flip them and tend to land with just one foot on the board and the other on the floor)

So, long story short, you really have to commit to landing it solid, and hope, that you nail it.

  • you look like jack black

  • @matoyskier everyone says that but I really don't.......jack black has a huge wad of cash for a start.....

Only similarities is being overweight with long hair and a big beard.

  • Comment removed

  • @volcomskaterforlife I don't really need to defend that comment as I've just seen what you look like.....

  • @theunknown4evr Damn, whered you find that come back? Under your addidas headband?

  • @volcomskaterforlife

Mate, you made a music video to a Dido song...

  • @volcomskaterforlife dude go suck a dick you stupid fuck

  • BRITISH DA

  • how the hell do ppl have enough time to do all that at one jump

  • @realpatriot13 : You actually don't need any time in the air on most of these tricks. I personally have never had very high ollies but I do have a shed load of tricks that seem to do a lot in mid air.

The fact is most of this trick is done in the first split second, the pop.....Get the pop right and the trick isn't hard at all.

The only trick I've done that I really felt hang time had anything to do with it was 720 shuvs. And even then it's down mainly to the initial push you get.

  • lol i landed those on accident when i was really trying to do an impossble

  • so awesome good job thanks for making this vid!

  • so awesome good job thanks for making this vid!

  • so awesome good job thanks for making this vid!

  • any subs i just like the english accent!!!!lol

  • looks like an ollie into a mid air truckstand and land. thas what i love about feather flips.

  • I've actually done pogo air's before on flat.

Ollie to mid air pogo and back before landing. That's a scary trick though.....if it goes wrong....it really goes wrong.

  • dude thats in london right

  • Indeed it is.

  • not a feather flip

  • beautiful grammar

  • dude not a feather flip but sexy ass casper

  • No, it is still just a feather flip...

  • Are you English?

  • yep

  • @odrian99 or australian

  • Putting a time frame on learning a trick is somewhat impossible.

It took me the best part of a year to learn impossible's, yet it took me around 3 attempts to learn front foot impossible's.

What I would say though is this, if you dedicate some time to it each day and don't get frustrated, you'll learn it a lot quicker. When you get annoyed with a trick or do a trick for too long you tend to end up just making the same mistakes over and over. Best to give the trick an hour a day, no more.

  • whay you dont put slowmotion

  • i did this trick wrong and the top truck hit the side of my knee and it really fucken hurts !! i never want to do this trick again

  • I do warn in the video that it can hurt if it goes wrong.

Stick at it though......pain is temporary, glory is forever.

  • lol okay

  • Not really, as on casper and hospital flips you'd be using your feet the other way around to flip the board back.

That being said.....despite being the wrong feet, it does kind of give you the idea of what your meant to do....just with the other feet.

  • hey man whats with tha gay music in the background :D

dude what is it called if you pull a big spin out with your front foot?

sorry to bother but every body has their own stooopid names

    good trick tip man props!

  • I'd hardly call Malcolm Mclaren's Madame Butterfly a gay song but too each his own...

I'm not fully understanding what you mean by this front foot bigspin?

Do you mean if you do a big spin out of the feather flip?

Cause that'd be a fs bigspin featherflip...I'm pretty sure Julio de la cruz does one in "da deal iz dead".

  • yeah and donovan does one against koston (rematch)

    koston gets a letter...

oohhh ill try to film one...its deadly in a game of skate :D

  • Not as deadly as the switch toe flip revert of doom.....

Or the even more disgracful toe-lam flip.

  • feather flip ftw

  • Very cool trick. How many types of flips must one learn in order to become a certified skateboarder? Very thorough explanation too. Thanks! Will try it first thing in the morning. After coffee that is...

  • is that jack black in the video ?????it looks just like him

  • Your either not funny or truly stupid....

    Or both.

  • dude fuck off i serious thought it was him cuz when he started to explain if u look at him fast he looks like jackblack and im not stupid

  • You must be stupid.....I look absolutly nothing like jack black.

You've seen a beard and some hair and lept to the conclusion that some fat british skateboarder explaining a little known trick in his bedroom is actually an american millionaire celebrity.

That is quite the imagination you have.

  • ...i looked at u fast thats only reason i thought that...i never said u were him

  • I suggest a visit to an opticians.

  • who r those???

  • WoW, I thought you said you wasn't stupid?

Clearly you are. Not only do you not know what an opticians is but you also failed to notice that you are on the internet.......and all you had to do was type it into google to get your answer.

Unless of course that was another lame attempt at humour.

  • im not stupid, i just dont study and wasn't is bad grammer :P u should say weren't

  • There isn't a thing wrong with my grammar.

Besides, who are you to question my grammar when your typing "u" rather than "you". You didn't use a capital letter for "I" which is wrong, you also failed to start the sentence with a capital letter. You typed "im" rather than "I'm" as well as "dont" which should read "don't". You also left out a full stop and comma for the break.

Secondly, who the fuck needs to "study" to know what an optician is? It's an eye doctor you phallus.

  • what the hell is a phallus...

  • You....You are a phallus.

  • LOL. You owned him in the whole grammar argument.

  • i always lose my balance when doing my impossibles so much that i just avoid that try all together any tips to help keep my balance?

  • Yeah, that seems to be quite a common problem with impossibles.

Believe it or not it's all down to before you pop. Most of the time people are leaning too far back and the board shoots out infront of them when they land.

  • yeah i can do them but i can rarely keep my balance when i land them should i like try to fix my posture or do i just keep doind them over and over?

  • As I say, usually losing your balance when you land is caused by not being balanced before you take off.

So I'd say when you go to do one next make sure your head is over the centre of the board and that your not leaning too far forward (over your toes rather than over the middle of the board).

  • 1/2 featherflip to truckstand, thats easy

  • There isn't such thing as a half feather flip.

I know the trick you mean however, it's a half pressure flip to truckstand.

  • oh ok, thanks for the correction

  • awsome

  • That is a problem on pretty much every new trick.

Most of the time this is simply a sub conscience lack of commitment. Basically meaning that because you've never done it your body tries to get your feet back on the ground as a saftey feature.

The only other reason I can think is that your leaning over the nose too far. If your body weight is over the nose you will tend to land in a no comply sort of position.

If you post a vid of a few attempts I can let you know where your going wrong.

  • its like eric koston

  • Yep :)

  • that park looks sick as fuck

  • I'll give it a try. Those old video's sound like they might prove useful.

  • what exactly are nose caspers? and anti casper flip is when it goes fs instead of bs right?

  • A nose casper is just rolling along and going straight into a casper on the nose......an anti casper is a half impossible to nose casper.

I'd say just practice rolling along and going straight over into nose casper just to get a feel for where your feet need to go.

If you still can't picture what I mean let me know and I'll try and find a old vid of one.

  • I find it hard doing these. Even getting the rotation for these is difficult. Everytime I attempt to do this trick I end up doing a 360 shove. =[

  • Sounds like your trying to get too much rotation.

Think of it more like a pressure flip than a shove it of any sort.

  • can you hit the back truck to rotate it back instead of the tail?

  • As I mentioned. You can.....but.....it gives you a very inconsistant flip which can lead to getting a few hits to the inside of your front knee.

If your having trouble with the "catch" in the casper position you might wanna learn nose caspers and/or anti caspers.

Easier to do but it really gives you the feel of where your feet need to go after you pop. Plus you'll automatically learn the flip out of nose casper which is the same for feather flips, nose caspers and anti caspers.

  • I have no idea, but that is exactly what it is....

I do quite like the name feather flip though. I think it quits the trick well.

  • ive skated there! was that the london banks?

  • Well the name of the place is southbank, and it is in London.......I've never heard it called London banks though, although I'm sure this is the place you proabably skated.

  • thanks it heled a lot and your hair is awesome. its like Joe Dirt

  • hey fuck off pissing on this guy,

look how, well almost, clean he does do these tricks, piss off and don't bugger around at this good skater :D

  • Who invented it?

  • I truely have no idea.

Some of the earliest one's I've seen were by Eric Koston back on the old H-Street vids and julio de la cruz in da deal is dead.

I'm sure it was invented before either of these though.

  • All i know is eric koston perfected it

(like Mike Vallely perfected the brain surgeon and called it the flamingo)

  • on a scale of 1 to 10 how difficult do you thuink it is

  • Well with 1 being a bs shuv it and 10 being a fs gazelle late flip...

I'd say about a 6 to learn but only a 3 once you have it.

Once it clicks it is a pretty easy trick. It's only so hard to learn because you never get anywhere near it....when your learning them most of the time you end up doing some poor ollie into a sort of late flail in which the board flies away.

Once you get the first bit of the trick right.....it becomes pretty easy to do. I'd say I can feather flip 8 out of 10 times.

  • i like how you have a trick tip that's as long as it would take if the person just went out and tried it

  • Feel free to explain the trick fully in less words.

What help would it really be if I simply said.

    step 1. learn pressure flips.

step 2. do a feather flip.

step 3. post pointless comment about it on youtube.

  • feel free to do trick tips on tricks that you can do in more situations than at half-a-push speed on flatground

  • Oh, I'm sorry. Is it too complicated for your simpleton brain.

What the fuck do you mean "tricks that can be done in more situations"

You obviously have no idea about skateboarding do you.....

In skateboarding.....ANY trick can be used in ANY way or with ANY other tricks. With almost no exceptions.

I guess skateboarders are only allowed to kickflip into tricks these days then?

Another thing......I'm getting sick of fags with no videos of their own telling me what I should be filming. Cocks

  • harsh...

i'm just trying to get rid of the 13 year old kids at the skateparks practicing flatground and asking everybody to play "SKATE". i bet you do a lot of primo flips too, huh? and i'm sure your hangers thank you for it.

IN MY OPINION you should only learn tricks you can practice going as fast as possible,or when bombing hills, or maybe when cruising.

this 'feather flip' of yours is ugly, annoying, and degenerative

  • And how often do you see anyone doing nollie tre's whilst bombing down a hill?

How often is it that you've seen somebody do a lazer flip on the hills of Frisco?

I can do my tricks going fast. I simply don't skate fast. Skating fast at southbank is rather pointless anyways as it's only around 90 feet in length. By the time you take 4-5 big pushes you have run out of flat.

As for wanting to get rid of any type of skater.....Thats just rather weak. I suppose you hate slalom too? Or even pool?

  • why would i hate pool?

and yes... 360 flip variations are done downs street gaps almost on the regs now, mr sweatband.

skating flat is pointless unless it's in order to progress (and no... not to progress ON MORE FLAT)

  • Why would you hate pool? cause you don't like the flat, or freestyle by the sounds of it. And I see no reason you'd hate either of them.

Besides, your missing the big picture here.

What do you mean pointless? Skateboarding as a whole is pointless......

Real skateboarders do it for fun you fucking moron. We don't do it to be the worlds greatest, we don't do it to earn money. It's a hobby turned passion, not some fucking "how cool do I look" test.

    In short.

    Post vid or STFU

  • i could care less about some freestyle nerd doing late flips...

but when half the kids at the skatepark today are learning kickflips before they ollie....

and why would i want to video myself? i'm not a pornstar

  • That was a stupid enough comment that I need not post a come back.

  • what a twat london england australia is about 16,000 miles away and completely different accents i really hope your joking

  • you talk fucking cool as fuck every one is jealous thanx for the help

  • Thanks for the help, still can't get it though.. :/ But I wish my dad skated. :o Post more 'How to' vids please! :D Maybe even one on the "Sigma Flip?" I really need help on the underflip on them. :(

  • As soon as my treatment is over with and I'm back skateboarding again I'm gonna do a bunch of "How To's"

Sigma flips will be there too. The key to sigma flips is the catch. The varial flip should be done in a way that leaves you ready to catch the mid air nose casper flip.

  • mmm what is a sigma flip?

  • a sigma flip is in it's most basic termanology a varial half flip late nose casper flip.

In laymens terms it's a feather flip but you varial flip into it.

search for it....there's loads of poor examples on youtube

  • XD ok thanks

  • Would you prefer it in sign lanuage?

  • What is with all this aussie shit.....People confuse me sometimes..... :s

  • you are kick ass bro i wish my dad skated you are the legend man

  • u fucking fagot austrailian dont tell me how to do a trick go out run some more kangaroos fag

  • This comment made just made my day.

Here I was thinking all the stupid people on the planet had disappeared when suddenly I get this message.

    Excellent stuff.

If you hadn't already guessed, I'm from London. As in England. As in Britain. As in Europe. As in the other fucking side of the world.

My friend. You are a legend.

  • Rofl that was the best reply to a comment ever. Kudos to your reply. Also thank you for this trick tip I wanted to learn this. - Jin

  • you're a fucking idiot. how do you mistake an english person from an australian? also im from australia and we dont run around with kangeroos, once again. you're an idiot.

  • Agreed, I have no idea how you mix up a Londoner with an aussie.

  • ur all pussies respect this guy cuz he can do something you can't stop complaining. why don't u try it if ur such a bad ass

  • The board doesn't even flip. so why 'Feather Flip'.

  • I answered that question about 3 comments ago.

I didn't name it so I have no idea but the only reason I can think is because the board goes upside down at one point.....all the tricks I know that go upside down (excluding impossibles) are flips....

  • anti Casper flip

  • Same thing....

However it's always been called a feather flip as far as I know. Even back when Koston was doing them in H-street.

Koston still does them really well actually. Then again, he don't do many tricks badly....

  • great trick tip man, i watched this months ago and learned the trick but never commented about how wel explained it is.

  • thats not a feather flip well its a weird one 0.0 look at rodney mullens feather flips

  • I've never seen rodney mullen do a feather flip.....ever.

And it is as normal a feather flip as your likely to see.

Check out julio de la cruz's video part from Da Deal Is Dead if you want to see feather flips. He does a ton.

  • how is it a flip if it dosent eaven flip

  • No idea, I didn't name it.

It does get upside down though so you could call that the "flip" part. Even though it's really just a vertical rotation rather than an actual "flip".

  • eee..little to hard for me

  • i don't even know to say haha. all i CAN say is, i can't wait for tomorrow to try this crazy shit haha.

  • so is it basically an impossible in the air??

  • No, impossibles are done in the air? If you mean a late impossible, then no, it isn't that either. Impossibles go all the way round a full 360 degree.

It's basically half an impossible to a nose casper flip....all in the air.

It's an anti casper in the air.

  • Actually, I meant to say you "want it" over vertical.....

But yes, i did indeed hold the board horizontal while I was saying that. Glad I could confuzzle everyone :D

  • This was an excellent trick tip. I've seen someone do it with hitting thier trucks, it's the exact same rotation and what not but instead of hitting the tail he hits the trucks, it's still called a feather flip right?

  • It is indeed still a feather flip. Just a bad one :D

The idea is to catch it like a nose casper in mid air. I've done a few in the past that i've actually held before doing the flip back.

  • this video is trieng to get us all credit carded its horrible! lol nah imma go out and try this trick :)

  • Its very unlikly that you'd credit card trying this trick.

But, you'll prolly hit yourself on the inside of your front knee a few times. And that REALLY fucking hurts...

  • HAIR MATEY

  • featherflip..

  • feather flip

  • The shot on 00:42 secs is my local skatepark.

Cantelowes in camden. I've haven't skated there in quite some time though, actually, I haven't skated anywhere in quite some time :s

  • is that south banks in london?

  • That is indeed southbank.

  • i luv you accent :)

  • would this also be considered an anti-casper flip?

  • Thats exactly what it is yes. However I've never heard anyone (including freestylers) call it that.

I'm not sure who invented it but I'm guessing it would have been around 1991-4 when, quite frankly, so many tricks were being invented that multiple names would end up being given to a single trick.

  • I Saw This In Rodey Mullen's 2 professional Skate Video And He Called It A Feather Flip

  • What video was that from?

I've never seen mullen do a feather flip (despite inventing anti caspers)

  • this is possibly the most detailed trick tip ever way better then the one that said "the problems with this trick is your not fucking doing it right"

  • woah.. i do my feather flips completely different..

i pretty much do like a half kickflip then bring my front foot under the board, back foot on the tail like a casper) and toss it over

  • You your talking about a different trick.

What your describing is a casper flip. Very different.

  • whats funny is that i love doing IMPOSSIBLES

and i tried this trick once and i got it

    hahahahahahahaa...its like w/e

  • You should post one as a response, so people can see different styles of feater flip.

  • maybe i should huh

    ill see whats up

  • cool trick tip, your feather flips look awesome

i can do 1/2 pressure flip late 1/2 anticasper flip

is that still a feather flip? or is their a different name for it?

  • Sounds like a feather flip.....that is effectivly what a feather flip is.

Film one, makes it easier to identify.

  • ya im going to, i just learned them today =D

  • Good, post it as a response so people get to see other versions of the trick.

It's always good to see more than one person doing a specific trick, helps understand it better.

  • im not gonna lie, i kinda stuck the landing and fell off and got excited

but as soon as i land a nice one, i'll post the response

  • Yeah well you gotta start somewhere...

  • yo chris haslam was at venice on go ska8 day and he kiks da board bak after a half impossible wit his front foot is dar a different name 4 dis???

  • Well the only tricks I can think of that are similar is the haslam flip (varial half flip late front foot half flip)

Or perhaps a type of casper flip.

I know he also does shuv it rewinds that when done a bit wonkey can look a lot like feather flips.

If on the other hand you mean he does a feather flip but with the other feet then thats a front foot feather flip. Another trick I've been doing for years but never got around to filming...

  • aight thx.......wow i suddenly feel lik dar r endless possibilities of odd underflip late tricks stuff

  • There really are. I find everytime I learn a new trick I suddenly have about a 1,000 different variations of it just waiting to be learnt.

  • dude ur accent is so awesome and thnx for the good trick tip

  • Second person who's mentioned an accent....I'm from London, did you expect me to sound like an american lol?

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

  • Man doesn't that like make the board knee you?
