Hi everyone! One of my friends, a top graduate of USC film school wrote and directed this short film called THE BROKEN HEART OF GNOCCHI BOLOGNESE. It's a whimsical, fun comedy with a similar sensibility to ROYAL TENENBAUMS. The trailer is listed under my favorites on my YouTube page or you can find it by searching for the title. The entire film is available on the iPad app Play Festival Films. The link for the iPad app is listed in the description of the trailer. Thanks!
I remember first seeing this in the theaters when I was in 8th grade. Seen Ben Stiller in it and expected a regular ol comedy but ended up getting a lot more than what I expected. Having seen all other films after this, Wes Anderson is now one of my favorite director/writers.
Just realised something: If Angelica Huston were really Ben Stiller's mom and Gene Hackman his dad, Angelica would've been 14 when she had him, and Gene would have been 36.
At 1:14, when Ben Stiller did that hand gesture while flipping through the book and said "A month... A year?", it almost seemed as though he was doing a nod to the french film "Breathless", where the main character does the same hand gesture and asks the same question. I could be wrong, though. I'm probably just a fan of both movies
i just couldn't imagine that the narrator was alec baldwin...this movie (with little miss sunshine) is perfectly ''weird''...so thumbs up to all the dysfunctional families out there!!!
I love how Royal, for the first and last time in his life, detaches himself from everything that's usually cherished in this world, and finds his true self - a free human.
I'm looking for a game where mafia families play against each other. the only name I remember is "Royal Tenenbaums" - Does anyone know the name of the game?
I think the Tenenbaum family was written specifically to reflect that innocent, childlike, ideal way you view your own family growing up. And like all of us the Tenenbaums had to deal with growing up and losing that innocence.
anyone see Another Earth? The Pagoda has a small role in that movie, but unfortunately he didn't provide comic relief...

it wasn't really rated "r" was it? i can't remember it should at least been pg or something
reak7835 3 years ago
drugs f-bombs and "sibling" romance probably constitutes an R rating
BlkBltLosh7 3 years ago 5
and suicide, don't forget suicide
whatawisecracker 2 years ago 2
2 things. First of all, the "siblings" aren't related. It's actually not illegal either.
Second of all, drugs in a movie getcha a PG-13...kiddos can deal with the drugs but not the F-bomb. You can use it once and any more is an "R"
So F-bombs are worse than drugs.
shadowhamster 2 years ago 7
@shadowhamster pg-13 is allowed one f-bomb. BUT it cant be used as an adjective or something.

I think the Tenenbaum family was written specifically to reflect that innocent, childlike, ideal way you view your own family growing up. And like all of us the Tenenbaums had to deal with growing up and losing that innocence.

hu stabbed u?
-he did (lol!)
i think that really helps sum up the film, after all that scene has the irony the film has in it alot, humour, weird/surreal expreinces...
tho i guess it misses out the sadness thaty the film has in parts...
still an epic film!
