no need to compare generations. everyone has a good time and people were, are, and will always be superficial. Those that go for the music and the music itself, will enjoy and appreciate a good night. Those who go for the sake of their image or to get with the opposite sex because their hormones are bubbling will never truly get what it means to be a raver.
not every young person now are what you people are making out though...I'm almost 20 and don't go out to get pissed and listen to Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber..My friends run a lot of underground house/drum and bass/hip hop/etc nights in York and are desperately trying to keep the music scene alive, now I know our nights don't come close to how this looks, but don't label our generation as being 'beer chugging, boring' youths...because it's not true!
@sashalovesderek A good point - I have a 14 yr old who is into dub-step and all that UKF(?) stuff - I force him to listen to oldskool! Every generation thinks that their 'thing' is the best - Maybe the reason that my generation bang on so much is because in the late 80s/early 90s the whole rave scene/chemicals were totally NEW and underground and, in the face of a Tory government, we partied, not rioted. Keep on enjoying your music and you'll be saying the same thing as us in 20 years' time ;)

oh yes ,,memories of how to go on a mad night out at the quad with the most joyful, non-violent atmosphere you could imagne. learn a lesson coke fuelled youth of today,,,, E's never caused a bad atmos!!!!
only went to the quad once-mate got mugged in the toilets!lol!-had a great night though-veteran of Annabells in Carlise,Legends in Warrington and Hacketts in Blackpool -remember nights like these in all of them-20 pound beans-original doves and disco buscuits-great time which will never be recreated due to the fact that this was a major change from alcohol to drugs-no-one was messed up and everyone was loved up!-just glad I was there! : )
I used to go to Cream in Liverpool every Sat night, and that was amazing too in the early-mid 90's. Nah, very hard to get kind of feeling back - but dont forget it was pre-Facebook, Twitter and all this social networking crap. It was pre bloody internet! We were more interested in getting off our heads and having a big night than who has the latest smartphone. Clubbing was all there was really.
you are quite right. i'm 43 now but still think ecstacy generation will alway's be the best days of my life. I often get dragged into town now and then and can't believe how boring its is with no atmosphere. And the clubs and music have no energy at all! We had our day now the young ones have there's now, sad to think that when there get in their 40s all they will have to look back on is facebook and twitter and how many levels there reached on Angry birds lol
I was there, got pure goosebumps from top to toe. No where else in the world would u feel atmosphere like that. It was a moment in time. My soul lives on in Quadrant Park xxx
i'm 30 and i've grown up watching these tracks on mtv partyzone, was too young to go to clubs though. however i disagree that nowadays dance scene is about money - it'd become a deep underground just after the 90s dance mass euphoria started to fade. almost the whole 90s were the commercial peak of uncommercial dance music - first acid house, then rave, big beat, trip hop, jungle and drum'n'bass to name a few. u can still find lots of artist unpresent on the charts but being stars in the clubs.
They should show all the younger generations of clubbers this video. They'd learn more in those 40 seconds than in 10 years of beer chugging, overdressing and being confrontational. Respect to the Golden Generation.
They are all on the same Vibe because now people are too busy trying to f@ck1ng pose and be cool, Dance/House has lost it's soul brothers and sisters, time for us late 30's early 40's to show the younguns what it was all about! :D
@Lowlifeshark i 100% agree, i have no idea how hardstyle and happy hardcore could have ever gotten popular, they are absolutely the worst techno i can imagine. this music is what i love :)
@Lowlifeshark VERY TRUE IM 18, alot of posers nowadays who get too drunk and violent in their flashy gear, good drugs an good mindset, none of that anymore from what i can gather from today compared to this vid!
was anybody else having a sledge on the ledge when the fire escape got kicked in, crazy shit but what a blinding night.God bless the good old days.R.I.P The Quad
first proper club i went 2!! my big sis took me for a 16th birthday prezzie.. big mistake ,i never looked back..pure class.candie station live..what an introduction to the scene..
