  • sure, kneel and pray before the instrument. Is mankind ever gonna wake up and move forward?

  • thumbs up if you watched the whole video to see if she would play somthin

  • show some respect please people, she is sharing knowledge.

  • it's a real shame this got put on expertvillage instead of published independently

  • if i bow to an instrument, that just practice time wasted...

  • I will not bow to my instrument, and im not gonna show it respect, its my goddamn instrument, i do what i want with it, it wont make me a better player just because i dont step over it and give it respect

  • Hey star play and stop praying to deads gods, you talk much!

  • amen

  • amen

  • SHE NEED TO HIT THE BLUNT SO BADLY

  • It's Tanpura ppl don't say tambura looks idiotic say TANPURA :D

  • O' cut the hippie crystal-grippig nonsense & just play the thing U quack

  • Thanks for the introduction :)

  • to me it seems that this instrument is so easy to play that teachers must extend the learning process with spiritual stuff

and I must say such a western europid female looks non-authentic in terms of tampura education

  • @ everyone who commented negitively: So sad to see how impatient you all are... every point that the lady explained was the basics that you need to learn BEFORE you even pursue any sangeet lessons. If you are going to consider what the lady said as worthless, then you have no right to even listen to the sound of the tambaura. You all are a disgrace in the name of Indian Classical Music. I doubt if any of you even know anything about music or art!

  • Thank you very much for the enlightenment. It is fascinating to see how Indian classical music differs from the western tradition.

  • Cmon already play the fucking thing.

  • Thank you for delving into the spiritual aspects of classical Indian music. We of the west can tend to be unfamiliar with this. American influenced musics have aquired more physical (sexual) aspects.

  • tambura is often the word for tanpura in south india

  • DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMB

  • b-b-boooooooriiiiiiiiing

  • She needs to cut the jibber jabber and play the damned thing! I clicked on this to hear some tambura dammit, not some pasty old hag trying to be the Maharishi!

  • @Rightsideup If you cannot focus, it is not likelly that you will get the mood that the instrument was intended to produce. This is important when practicing the art of another culture. Playing this instrument with the attitude of a country-western performer is like doing karate with the atitude of a bare-knuckles boxer.

  • @leftysergeant

She wouldn't shut up long enough to focus! It's an instrument that is begging to be played! Me arguing with a non musician over instruments is like a bare knuckle fighter entering a kung fu tournament. Toodles!

  • @Rightsideup Perhaps your attitude prevents you from hearing properly in the first place. I wonder how it would sound while being shoved up your disrespectful rectal chamber?

  • @99991ray Would you like some cheese with your whine?????? Instruments are an extension of the artist! If she is demanding respect to the instrument, she is demanding respect for herself, which makes her an egotistical person!

  • @Rightsideup Exactly how is she demanding anything from you? You're the one who looked at the video in the first place, you doorknob!

It's you who are doing the whining and the demanding. Seems to me that you are just a jealous

person who either has no tanpura or is too chicken to perform for us on you tube. You probably can't play one, right?

  • @99991ray I looked at the video to hear some fucking tampura! Hell no I don't own one, but I love the sound of em. Unfortunately this bitch didn't touch the damn thing. I have shit tons of videos up dipshit. I am a one man band, feel free to watch them,. though all you're going to do is trash them. Personally, I do not give a fuck, I have a great time making music, not yammering about it and NOT playing a note. Excuse me, I have to get back tot he song I am working on, I actually MAKE MUSIC!

  • @Rightsideup That's what I figured, you're just jealous. If you had half of a brain, you'd notice that it's an instructional video. No one expects trailer trash to understand that.

It also does not surprise me that you don't own a tanpura, as it's way too much of a challenge for to play. Leave it to the experts, you are far better off with your hands in your lap and playing with yourself anyway. Less danger to anyone around you.

Have fun playing the skin flute!

  • @99991ray Jealous because I am a multi instrumetalist who plays instruments that make melodies and not a single drone? get educated retard. This will be my last comment as it is painfully obvious you don't play shit. Leave music talk tot he musicians, and keep your recycled dick jokes for the playground.

  • @Rightsideup If you knew anything about ICM, then you'd know that it's all about drone. But, because your command of English is rather poor, you wouldn't grasp that notion, it would be very hard indeed to be able to read that in books about ICM.

I haven't made any jokes, the jokes were all yours, cementing your hillbilly personality. You're done alright, because you couldn't hold up your end of the conversation, you are much too ignorant. You've been shown up here, good.

  • @Rightsideup She clearly was fulfilling the requirements laid out for her.

  • puke and i step over you

  • tambura namo namah

  • And the purpose of this clip was.......?

  • I'm sorry but this is such bullshit.

  • jesus...you're not indian, stop trying.

  • You are the man!

  • I really appreciate your effort to introduce tambura and how to play it. Ofcourse i listen to it whenever i wanna read, relax or sleep. It calms down your mind and helps you to focus.

  • un giorni questi finti guru saranno spariti tutti. suona e taci ( play and shut up) grazie

  • yeah, not sure where that foot thing came into it. I'm not a guru or anything, but if you don't feel right pointing your feet at the instrument, don't. But if you don't care, don't. Sadly, I only clicked on this video to hear some music...and I was left unfulfilled.

  • Did you try following on to the next video in the series? Or did you expend all your energy opening the first one..
