  • when/ where was this?

  • I have that effect on my amplifier!!!! everything is magic!

  • although they werent rush fans according to claudio the first band he played for was a rush cover band its in the neverender dvd

  • @shroudedassassian The band he started with Pat sayers, they auditioned a guitarist who, if joined the band, would want the band to play rush covers.

  • okay, anyone that says that coheed is better than rush is straight retarded. believe i LOVE coheed wayyy more than rush, but Neil Peart alone has more technical talent than anyone in coheed. rush has been around for over 30 years. they have influenced thousand of bands after them. then win. they are legendary. coheed is getting there though:)

  • they are two totally different fucking bands. rush is cool, coheed is better, get over yourselves. quit comparing the two.

  • This song is propa lethal

  • Huge Heed and Rush fan (looks at username)

But when you get right down to it, Rush comes out on top. But honestly it doesn't matter. Coheed makes some sick mother fucking music. And I am so happy that I get to hear them everyday and got to see them twice live.

  • kill yourself

  • This.

  • Claudio has stated in several interviews that he almost NEVER listened to rush. "Rush...They were just one of those bands that I DIDN'T listen to." Direct quote - "The Fiction Will See The Real - Documentary" Travis....didn't listen to them. Josh...didn't listen to them. They liked bands such as Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Led Zepplin ect.....Geddy was good....Claudio is better...and his concept, and music composing ability is far more different, and better than geddy, or Rush...Rush is alright tho

  • Claudio is better at what??????

Sorry dude, Geddy will hand claudio his ass...... On the bass.

  • claudio is a better singer than geddy and claudio can play the shit out of the guitar, which everybody knows, is better than the bass

  • Apparently youve never heard geddy play the bass.......

  • no i hav and hes a great bassist but i would prefer a great guitarist over a great bassist any day

  • Geddy Lee is a bassist and one of the best of all time. On the other hand, Coheed might have the best bassist (Mic Todd) currently in music.

  • wtf? The most ignorant comment I have ever read on youtube. You have no clue.

  • @razorblade42069 maybe a little overboard. I just dont like Rush. I respect their muscial capabilities though.

  • Coheed is a very good band. I can't stop listening to this song, 21:13. But Rush are legends. One of the top 10 ever, alongside Beatles, Zep, Stones, Van Halen, etc. If you're just unfamiliar, take a bonghit and listen to their early stuff, 2112, Hemisperes, or Farewell to Kings. Then again, my old bandmate hated both Coheed & Rush.

  • heard that

  • dude. coheed is amazing. but they arent better than rush.

  • So true, rush is amazing

  • I am a huge Rush fan.

I am a huge Coheed Fan.

I dont get why some of you scenester fucks get all riled up when somebody compares Coheed to Rush, Its a compliment. Rush is one of the most musically dynamic bands to ever hold a contract, and has more musical talent than most bands combined. Geddy is pretty much the best rock bassist ever, and easily the most talented frontman, alex is just plain unique on the guitar, and neil created a whole new world of drumming

  • And he influnced more drummers than any other drummer in history.

I think coheed is this generations rush. I absolutely love how they take the new styles prominent now and prog it out.

  • @RacinNdrummin The reason that the fanbase hates that is not that they are compared, it's when someone says they're just a modern day Rush. They have similarities, but in no way are they that close. However I agree that it is a compliment for them to be compared to Rush, I feel like Mic is one of the closest things to Geddy when it comes to talent as a rock bassist, especially among modern day bands.

  • @RacinNdrummin fuck rush. Neil's an overrated fagget

  • coheed and cambria are unique! i love them.

    haters stfu; seriouslyy.

  • Rush was great in their hayday and still are a bit but i hate ppl that give modern music flak because they dont innovate. FUCK THAT i hate guys that blow classic rock bands(such as Aerosmith, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd) because they "innovated" (even though there were hundreds of bands that were doing what they did....). give all music and chance and instead of finnding music on the radio go digging for music and research because you'll definitely find a band youre into cuz dats how i found coheed.

  • Ok people, on the Neverender dvd Claudio say and i quote "I dont even lison to rush." How the hell is Coheed and Cambria supost to be like rush when the lead singer does not lison to them? Ask your selfs that.

  • Sure, no similarities between the bands... except for mixing prog and rock, vocals that are higher than average in pitch, lyrics dealing with fantasy/sci-fi/concept subject matter... it's just remarkable that they'd end up so close without being heavily influenced by them.

As for Rush sucking compared to them, don't make me laugh. I like Coheed a lot, but talk to me when they've got 20+ records, many of which are excellent, and have displayed the kind of musical diversity and ability Rush has.

  • i have to agree with u sir im a HUGE coheed fan but u cannot compare them to Rush. Rush has more gold and platinum albums than coheed can fathom. i prefer coheed over rush for the sheer fact that they actually bring a uniqueness to this conformist shit we call music these days.

  • You cannot compare Rush and Coheed and Cambria, besides the fact both bands have a singer with a unique voice, Coheed and Cambria is amazing btw.

  • well actually i read an interview where claudio said that they intentionally progged the hell out of this song just for kicks as a sort of a quasi-homage to classic prog bands such as Rush. However he mantains, as does the rest of the band that they were not at all influenced by them, but more by bands like iron maiden

  • OMFG PEOPLE STFU RUSH AND CoCa ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT BANDS!!!!!!! AND IN MY OPINION RUSH SUCKS COMPARED TO THESE GUYS, BUT HEY THATS JUST MY OPINION, STOP WITH THE FUCKING COMPARISONS YOU RETARDS, THEY DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT EACH OTHER, AND THE SONG HAS NOTHING TO DEAL WITH EM!

  • sry josephine dies later about 1245 not 2113 ( 9:13) check comic 2 pver claudios shoulder

  • so is this a tribute to rush or not? im so confused!! i hope not though

  • NO. I like Rush, but this is nothing close to a tribute. They may have similar names, but they are NOTHING like eachother. It's an original song.

  • thanks!! i was so confused :/

  • There's a damn Rush riff in it...

It's not a tribute, no, but there is a Rush refference in this song. The 21:13 thing is just a coincedence in the story line. The Rush riff in the song is sort of a joke.

  • What Hellraiser said is pretty much spot on. Coheed never really heard anything of Rush until after In Keeping Secrets.

The 2113, if I can remember properly, is a reference to when some clock stopped while Josephine was being killed.

I dunno. I'm probably dead wrong, considering the story has been changed around over the last year, and I haven't read many of the comics : /

  • Nah man. Defenwolf (sp?) gave Coheed a certain time that he had to kill his kids by: 21:13.

"When the clock reads 21:13, all work will stop and the ground will release".

Kill them by 21:13 or the world is doomed.

  • Ahh, see, you're on the ball my friend :D

  • From what I had heard a few years ago when IKSOSE:3 first came out, the title was a sort of Rush tribute only because so many people had compared Claudio's voice to Geddy Lee's voice (of Rush). Since every concert but one that I've seen has involved either Coheed or Rush, I"ve got to say that there's no disrespect to either band by making a 2113 title.

  • Josh= 10000 times better drummer than chris. imagine what this song would sound like without him... i think it would sound like utter shit

  • haha good one chris = better tech all im gunna say

  • agreed, but for coheed, josh was key

  • i guess...

  • true that man

  • Ugh, I wish I could see this when they do the Neverender tour here....

My girlfriend wanted to go see GAIBSIV instead of IKSSE -_-

    Grrrrrr

  • tell her tough titties and go see in keeping secrets anyway

  • Haha, It's all good, I convinced her to buy me tickets for SSTB for my birthday, my good ol' favourite out of all four! :D

  • awesome lol

  • We're gonna see this song again on the 'Neverender' tour!

I just wish we didn't have to wait until Wednesday to know the London dates!

  • i envy you so much...

  • AAAAAHAAHAHAHAHA... did anyone else notice the tags... tig ol bitties

  • yes!

  • Obviously "SoEpicRightNow" you're not as epic as you think, and have never heard of the word "Amazing" which is a synonym for the band Rush. Not to mention they're probably ten times the musician you'll ever. I agree with you that Coheed and Cambria is good, but you're just an ignorant prick.

    This video rocks.

  • I heard josh was poppin pills.

  • um no he wasnt

you dont jack shit so shut the fuck up

  • actually josh was popping pills and thats why he left the band. and mike used to be a heroin addict but hes fine now

  • thats also why mic doesnt drink anymore.

and yeah, josh was takin pills.

  • Yeah, I met them back in the day, and when I was talking to mike he was walking away with two hooker looking bitches and a look of urgency on his face. I was an addict, so I knew exactly what he was doing, but nobody believed me when I told them.

  • shut up deepelmdesciple, your such a liar.

  • I'm not lying, it happened in philly '04. If I find the ticket I'll give you the date. Back when they still toured in the Winnebago.

  • yes he was, so you, shut the fuck up totsuo. lol

  • There is no point in arguing about Josh's departure, I know him personally, so I know why he left. Unless you know him yourself, you wouldn't understand his reasoning.

  • hm....

    this was marked as spam.....

and killersdude272 doesnt have any videos watched other than this one, he doesnt any favorites or anything like that

    so i wonder......

is mistersamza aka the guy who posted this video killersdude272

my bet is that he is

  • 5:40-5:58 = Best Part of the Song.

Just watch Josh...he is so fucking amazing...God damn it I wish he would come back.

  • nah i love the time consumer intro part right after that ^^

  • agreed, that is such an epic twist to the song. they should play more things like that.

  • i miss josh

  • no actually this song was after people was saying they sound like rush. and they said wow we kind of do never listend to them. so this song is coheed haveing fun and writing a rush tune kind of as a joke. so quit the bitching and enjoy it

  • Damn. Wish I'd seen this one. So fucking good.

  • both of you shut the fuck up!! enjoy the sound that brings life to this earth!!! enjoy coheed and cambria!!!

  • Holy shit! Coheed is NOT influenced by Rush! they say so themselves! their influences are Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, and Iron Maiden. NOT rush. the only similarities between Geddy lee and claudio are they both have high voices. nothing more.

  • i agree!

  • That, and they are both amazing musicians ;)

  • They didn't model the song after Rush! They didn't even know who Rush were at the time. And he makes his voice sound higher because he's singing the song from a child's point of view at certain points. He explained in an interview what that was all about.

  • No, A Favor House Atlantic is his highest pitched song, and for the record Claudio > Geddy, in every way imaginable

  • And the 2113 - 2112 Coincidence is explained in the story behind Coheed and Cambria. 2113 refers to a time in the story that is very important in the first album. This song is basically refering to the song "everything evil"

  • I know the comics, but read what I quote

AT FIRST THEY WEREN'T. However, after hearing them later on they made this song so progressive in regards to Rush.

"There's that 2113 song which is kind of a joke (laughing). We just made it obviously so proggy and we had a good time doin' it. You know, we like to play those kind of songs"

YES he says they weren't influenced in the interview, but that changed after hearing about it.

    L2Addideas.

  • And in the interview where Josh claimed they weren't influenced by Rush when they started, it shows they now are. "There's that 2113 song which is kind of a joke (laughing). We just made it obviously so proggy and we had a good time doin' it. You know, we like to play those kind of songs" Meaning at first they weren't but after hearing of the comparison they checked them out and did something in regards to Rush.

  • yeah, basically awesome. you and me are the only ones who can comprehend what they read of here.

  • Coheed was influenced by Rush, there's no doubt. Rush is one of the most popular prog. Rock bands and it's obvious Claudio has been fascinated with sci-fi things, which a lot of Rush is. Also this song was named after a Rush song, 2112.

And in regards to Coheed trying to be as BIG and popular as Rush? That's insane. Coheed are not attempting to be as big as any band.

  • Whydicare is right, in an interview with Josh Eppard back in April 2005, he stated "neither he or the other band members are Rush fans or are influenced by Rush."

    Awesome song, by the way.

  • really doesn't matter what josh said cause hes a crackhead. and he got kicked out of the band.

  • Yes that's right. Claudio and Travis purposely kicked out Josh and Mic to sabotage their own tour. Fucking idiot. Josh left the band for his hip hop thing.

  • actually josh rocks and is so much of a better drummer than that bald ass chris pennie. coheed lost a really great band member. and i dont think josh liked the idea that coheed was completely selling out. their new stuff sucks compared to their old music.

  • I wouldn't say it sucks, but it does feel like it has less... humanity? soul? I dunno. It's not as... Coheed, y'know?

  • I'll go ahead and say pennie is a much better drummer technically. Pennie is a great drummer. BUT, Josh was better for Coheed's style definitely, Pennie should've stuck to Dillinger.

  • eh i dunno if he should have

therewere really bad tensions in that band before pennie left

i like josh better hes my favorite drummer ever

he influenced my style a ridiculous amount

  • Josh is great, and I love his style and playing, but he isn't even close to being on the same level as Pennie. Chris Pennie is capable of doing things that Josh couldn't even imagine.

That being said, Josh was a better match for Coheed, but then again, I still need to hear what Chris does with them on their next album.

  • hmm, ive seen coheed twice since they had chris join, and he's terrible for them. He's to adventurous in places and loses time, which even claudio noticed last time i saw them, and when it comes to playing some of joshs parts from the first good apollo record, well, they may as well have not bothered doing the songs.

chris = good clinic drummer, but terrible coheed drummer.

  • what do u mean about the GA songs?

  • Joshs parts on good apollo are very musical and original, chris didn't seem to be able to play the grooves the way they were written or intended to be played. Josh has an amazing feel which is very hard to replicate, and chris just doesn't seem up to the challenge of staying simple. Sure Josh does have flare i places, but even his most technical fills are musical and in time, chris however reverts to 16th note triplets all the time and gets lost in the song. even taylor would have been better.

  • I miss josh, he played like i do and that was cool, not to mention he was wicked good.

  • dude, your an idiot, i hate you

  • It's funny to hear him say that Rush was "overrated"...I like C&C but they are nowhere near the status of Rush...Alex Lifeson (lead guitar) and Neal Peart (Drums) have more musical talent than anybody in C&C...and Geddy Lee's vocals are just as "unique" as Claudio's just in a different way

  • i doesnt really matter if they were influenced by rush or not they are both amazing bands they defiently took something from rush

  • you know everyone compares c&c to rush. i think they sound way more like led zep, and pink floyd than rush. especially the last two albums. i mean "the final cut", thats the name of a floyd album. welcome home reflects cashmere(zep), and nwft is full of floyd and zep-esque riffs. get past the high octave vocals, and the comparision broadens...

  • I think most ppl compare Coheed to Rush because to the posers coheed's just some band with some big-haired guy with a high voice, and Rush's lead singer has a high voice too

But if people actually listened to Coheed more they'd develope a better opinion

    I love coheed

  • who cares... this song is great. They sound like Rush sometimes... who cares? it's influence, every musician is influenced by others. 21:13 is amazing, especially as apart of the story

  • Ok guys these guys are influenced by Rush. If the werent why would the bass player have a Geddy Lee Jazz bass? And in the new album why is The Hounds opening guitar riff similer to Rushes YYZ?

  • yea, maybe INFLUENCED...slightly....ALOT of people play geddy lees sig bass u fucking momo....its a great bass. coheed is miles ahead of rush rite now. even in rush's prime i might officially say that coheed has them by the balls

  • They definatly are influeced at least slightly. Definatly Coheed has them by the balls. These guys are just too amazing.

  • You obviously know nothing about Rush or are in denial. Just some punk who worships C&C. Eventhough I do like C&C, they could only dream to be as big as Rush was in their prime. If you don't recognize the amount of talent in Rush then you don't know what talent is.

  • is he playing his les paul in this? he hardly ever plays that.

  • Rush fucking doenst have shit on Coheed.

  • All HAIL JOSH EPPARD, AND THE REST OF COHEED AND CAMBRIA.

  • the song 21:13 has nothing to do with the band RUSH or any of their songs. you guys should read the story before you make any more inaccurate assumptions.

  • C'mon you can't tell me that Coheed named this 21:13 without knowing there was a Rush song named 21:12

  • dumbass.

the Rush song is 2112, as in the year, Co&Ca is 21:13, like the time.

  • Another of their kick ass songs.love when the vocals start in the album version

  • yeah thats what time it is in the story, its not a tribute to rush

  • Rush isn't one of Coheed's influences. In fact, Claudio has even said that he had never listened to Rush until so many people told him he sounded like Geddy Lee.

21:13 is the time on a clock (when Coheed kills josephine I think) in one of the Second Stage Turbine Blade comic book.

  • I'd say that Rush is an influence by proxy, as Claudio has cited Dream Theater as an influence, whom have cited Rush as a great influence.

Besides, regardless of whether they openly cite bands like Rush as influences, the fact that they subscribe to the label of "Prog", they automatically owe Prog pioneers like Rush their allegiance. They're an indirect influence.

  • i refuse to believe that someone like claudio had never heard rush before... you are retarded... OH YEAHHHH, by the way, you fucktard, listen to the beginnings of "2112" and "2113"... because it's OBVIOUS where claudio got his inspiration. You're ignorant, you just want to think that claudio is 100% original... He's pretty damn amazing, but not original.

  • they do have many rush influences but id say hes very original. i mean this song is very like rush because this is claudios tribute to them. but claudio, coheed in general, are very original musicians

  • He has heard Rush, but only AFTER he heard about being compared to Geddy Lee. So depending on when this happened, 21:13 may or may not be inspired a bit by 2112. So don't be a douche to people.

Just because he's the lead singer of a huge band, doesn't mean he has to listen to every classic rock band.

It IS possible that he never listened to Rush until a couple years ago....AFTER he started Co&Ca.

  • no... 21:13 it's a time, 2112 is a year and 21:13 has a another meaning and that's from the story "The Amory Wars" and..ok...let's say "he named the song 21:13 after 2112" why the fuck do people compare Geedy Lee To Claudio? yes both high pitched but they dont sound Nothing alike...

  • fo sho.

  • Also it is a time (whoever said it isnt)

    The lyrics go

'When the clock reads, twentyone thirteen'

Unless the person thought that it meant like when they played it, in that case my bad.

  • uhhhhhhh, lucky number 11... youre ignorant... its like coheeds little tribute to their number one influence and the greatest progressive rock song of all time, "2112" by Rush... and its titled that because its supposed to be in the distant future, like the year 2112, or 2113.... and soccer titan... i think we can all "infer" that you are retarded

  • no need for mindless flaming

  • oh yeah, and this song owns.

  • was this at the avalon cause i was there?

  • it sure was

  • we were the little kids screaming next to you or in front of you or somewhere on that same balcony :P

  • wow, did that guy seriously say its not called 21:13, lmao i think we can all infer that it is about a time lol. never heard this one live, excellent

  • no duechebag the song is called 2113 its not a fucking time

  • ..."When the clock reads 21:13" is in the fucking lyrics, you idiot.

  • it's not called 21:13 its just 2113

  • who fucking cares?

  • its 21:13

  • this song is sick

  • awesome... and it looks like claudio is using an acoustic?

  • Electric,Les Paul studio :P

  • This is the song that really set in stone that Coheed is a prog rock band.

  • wait is it true that some people are trying to decipher the songs of the co and ca.. i know claudio is writing some fictional comic book but according to some there song has a secret story...

  • This is an homage to Rush.

  • they didnt even know who rush was when this song came out douche.

  • Didn't know who rush was? What kind of a retard doesnt know who rush is... definitely not claudio sanchez. PLUS, i have it from a reliable source, someone who seriously worships clauidio, that he said in an interview that he listened nonstop to rush during the recording of in keeping secrets in order to be inspired

  • Uh no he has said he doesnt like rush and had never heard them until he got sick of being compared to them.

  • and im also a claudio worshupper and ive seen interviews where he has said that he didnt listen to rush. he knew who they were but didnt know their music. and i didnt know rush till i heard coheed was like them. and i hate rush anyway

  • but it does make sense that its 2113 like 2112 but thats just what ive seen in many interviews with claudio

  • oo nga sino kaya dito mewon nun....shit sana nga punta sila dito sa pinas..

  • one of co and ca's best song!!! i love this!!! sana pumunta sila sa pinas!!!!

sinu dito may kopya ng comic book ni claudio?

  • oo nga sino kaya dito mewon nun....shit sana nga punta sila dito sa pinas..

  • whats the date on this vid?? every concert ive seen him in he ALWAYS has an explorer in his hand and he's playin a les paul here... weird

  • all these videos make me sad now that mic and josh left coheed will never be the same

  • claudio busted out the les paul for this one...

  • its kept in drop d

  • Wow that song is awesome live! They def have to play that song for an encore more often!

  • damn thats sudistic o.O

  • One of the best songs of Coheed. I love it so much.

  • kinda looks like claudio might be wearing lady's jeans. that's hot.

  • i love the story behind it all

  • the Avalon, i've got this. ^^ good show.

  • oh.... alright.

  • I love you for posting this. Have my babies?

  • 21:13 is my fav fuckin song ever.. i wish they'd play it at a concert i go to in the future lol. coheed rox my sox!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. its such a good song too.

  • Yay!!! I was here, they played an acoustic set, then the electric, ohhhh god, it was beautiful. I wish I could do it all over again, every day of the week!!

  • damn you got lucky didnt you

  • This song ROCKs!
