  • Jimmy Thackery...a master of the blues....'nuf said

  • God just created some people to play the guitar, this is one of those people...

  • Just played the Double Door Inn in Charlotte NC, theres nothin this guy cant do.Awesome original talent!

  • You should have seen him back when he had the Drivers still together with Jimmy Carpenter on sax a few years back. Check out some of his Nighthawks exploits too........ sick. We followed them for several years around the south. One of the best live guitarists I've seen.

  • He may damn well be the closest some of us might get to Hendrix AND OR SRV in this lifetime, Jimmy you whale ...

  • Not the best singer but an outstanding guitarist.

  • Thackery rules!

  • Have seen Jimmy and KNOW how he can play when he feels it. This is a great example.

  • excellent in the guitar! just the drum in the intro started slow, I guess,

  • Jimmy was an original member of the Nighthawks and played with them for about 14 years since around '72. In the beginning they were a local band from D.C, in the early '70's . I saw them open for Muddy Waters at the Cellar Door in Georgetown, DC in '77 - (that's right - the ORIGINAL Cellar Door! [seated around 200] back before they started a recording label)

Jimmy was the best guitarist they ever had. I've met him several times. He's so cool and down-to-earth.

    [Those were the daze!]

  • I've seen JT about 7 times and there isn't a lick or a trick that Jimmy doesn't know.

  • Wow.

  • Hot damn, he makes that guitar speak!

  • 'jes a pitty jimmy never seems to go overseas :-(

  • no mid life crisis here, just blown out blues, totally tubed, dudes and dudesses

  • Very tasteful chops and killer tone! Go Jimmy!

  • I consider him the best guitarist in the USA today. Saw many shows in the past- including some in MA and FL

  • @bluesfiend50 Check out Jimmy's neighborhood pal Bobby Radcliffe. Bobby was always the best in the 'hood and many think he still is.

  • Yep, looks like an insurance salesman but plays like the devil!! More amazing in person than you could imagine.

  • I say Jimmy T once-Blew me away! I'm a guitarist and I'll tell ya, he had one of the best guitar sounds I ever heard-this dude knows sound!

  • I shook his hand once,it was all meaty,and sof;.Like an accountants.Anyway,I,for one,think he's one of the top 10 guitarists right now.

    Goot love the Jimmy.../

  • guy has awesome tone too--anyone know what pickups he uses on his strat, and/or amps, pedals?

  • he uses joe barden pickups....

    hope this helps..

    peace...

  • Jimmy just rip's it apart...the dude is THE master when he turns it up a notch. I've seen him eighteen times over the past fifteen years. Always impressive.

  • That guy can shred the blues guitar like no one I've seen. Had the pleasure of seeing him in May at the Santa Cruz Blues Fest.
